| What do women over 40 want? Posted: 3/19/2005 9:50:29 AM | Women on POF over 40 haven't a clue about what they want and wouldn't know the right guy if he came up and kissed them on the cheek.
As long as we are tossing generalizations around....
Most men on POF can't imagine why every woman doesn't want them , so they blame the women. "Women are shallow, materialistic, illogical, can't make a decision, don't know what they want, blah, blah, blah."

| What do women over 40 want? Posted: 3/19/2005 9:53:14 AM | Paradoxx, don't worry, I am listening/reading. The children just need to simmer down now! I am half-kidding about using the word children. AND hey, we all need to play at any age and I know doing it on a thread is the least risky place to express some aggression, passive or otherwise, etc. As far as the question goes, I prefer men my old age. Since my divorce I have met a few guys 10 years younger, 38. THey were beautiful men, very nice, very likeable and gentleman (which, I am reading is a rare trait, I better call them back! HAHAHA) Now, I am teasing here, so don't get too excited. I prefer men in my own age range because it seems like we have a lot more in common, lived through the same current events/history, music, are at the same place with our siblings and parents and have some experience with the world. If I go 10 years older, I begin to hear more stuff about retirement and downsizing and I am not quite there yet. I have met some young 55 years olds over the years that I felt very comfortable with. I guess more than anything else I wanted to say that I don't want to babysit, teach/preach, repair or rehab the guy I am with. I want to spend some real sweet time with him just enjoying him, etc. I met a really nice 48 year old last night, very sweet. We had an interesting evening, one which I hope to repeat. Perhaps a nice connection was made, I believe anything is possible! I met him on POF too! | |

| What do women over 40 want? Posted: 3/19/2005 11:04:21 AM | Thanks CandleLighter :) Wow, I am not a pessimist by a long shot, but if those are the beliefs held by most men over 40, I think I will just get a couple more cats and call it a life.
A thoughful post (as always) and I agree with your reasons for staying in the age range we're in. I have had a couple of date offers from men in their thirties, and I am toying with the idea...not sure yet if I want to try that or not.
One more thought as to why some women would be online; I live in the middle of 1,000 acres in a beautiful and somewhat secluded location. Ten miles to a one stoplight town, I enjoy the mountains and natural beauty here. I work in a sheltered workshop, rather like Goodwill Industries (as staff). My point: I have a small networking area. There are singles groups in the towns near to me, but I am a bit hesitant to try them at this point.
I can think of no other medium that places people together with the ability to destinguish character, values and attraction (potentially). The net has brought wonderful people into my life, and I am so glad for that. I am so glad to hear you had a nice evening with someone here...best of luck and hugs for you.

Guys, the first step in getting out of a hole is to stop digging :P

| What do women over 40 want? Posted: 3/19/2005 3:43:21 PM | | I had a woman in her 40s tell me that she got all upset thinking about getting involved with me, as she started thinking that she did not want to give up the home she made, the life she made, etc, if we were to get married. She confessed this to me before we had our first date. | |

| What do women over 40 want? Posted: 3/19/2005 5:15:40 PM | This is without doubt one of the more fun posts. Regardless of my opinions, you ladies, and some of the men too, have really brought a sense of humor and fun to it. I got off it about a week ago and didn't realize it was still going until the other day when I made a comment. But it seems to have gotten bigger and better after I left the first time. Maybe I should leave again and come back in a week and see how things are progressing.
You guys are a riot! | |

| What do women over 40 want? Posted: 3/19/2005 8:24:02 PM | Just finished reading all that has been written here in this forum. One of the guys made a comment that all men wanted young women. (Thx but I am being polite on the words here.) Want to say that I am one that prefers an older woman. Have friends in thier 20s and 30s and several in thier 40s. The kids in thier 20s is just that to me. I perfer a woman in her early 40s to early 50s. Have been with ladies in the 30s. I left the kid stage a long time ago.
Now I also think that the ladies that have replied here have said what they wanted. If the guys take the time to read closely, they will see it. I know most women place a lot of thier out look at men with emotional thoughts but I have five sisters and all are over 40. They as well use emotion a lot but they are very logical in the way they think. Have had quite a few talks on issues of the heart with them. Have to say that most men don't take the time to think they react to a ladies lovely eyes and flirting. I used to be very shy and at times I am still. It took a woman to break that problem and I owe her a great deal. The ladies here I have thought were quite profound in what they had to say. I know guys you will think I am nuts and just out to make points with the ladies. (NOT) I joined this site because a friend told me of it and asked me to join it with her. I have seen and read quite a few of the ladies profiles that are in this forum and enjoyed them. from what I read they all pretty much said what they wanted in a guy. Think and look past the egos that are there and read.
