With your negative attitude about online dating sites OP, you should have all the women swarming around you in no time......................
Well after the lawsuits that some states attorney generals have brought against a few of those sites, he has reason to be negative. Yahoo personals was one, Date.com another.
These things dont always hit the news and a LOT of people dont even realize they are being cheated and ripped off.
Fact, some places only charge the men.
Fact, some places charge you in order to READ your e-mail let alone send any.
Some places block your personal e-mail address from being sent to another member.
Let me explain the scam perpetrated by some sites...
You join for free...you can browse etc but if you want to contact anybody, you have to pay. Fair enough.
If you DON'T pay...expect a few e-mails from gorgeous women who live in your city and/or state. Of course you can't read their e-mails and if you can, you can't reply....until you pay. Here's the scam...the women don't exist. They are bot accounts. These "accounts" send e-mails to new members who have not paid. After you pay up and respond to the e-mail, they never respond back.
A few guys suspected what was going on and tested the system by making up new bogus accounts. BAM...like clockwork....the new accounts received e-mails from...gorgeous women. If they created an account in the same city state, they received e-mails from the exact same bot accounts....if they created accounts in other states, same thing only different bot accounts from THAT state.
If you pay, expect the activity on your account to pick up as soon as the membership is about to expire. That keeps you paying so you can stay in contact.
Some sites go as far as filtering anything after the @ sign in an e-mail to another member...keeping you tied to THAT site to stay in communication. So you are not allowed to send an e-mail address like (at)yahoo.com
So he has every right to feel ripped off because he was. Some sites like I said ONLY charge the men and the women are NEVER aware of this.
So even for all of PoF's faults....it's free and doesn't block e-mail addresses from being sent... | |

Sorry I misunderstood.
"women" will send you flirts and even write you a letter. When you subscribe and write back to them. You'll never here from them again. I know that most of the women on these pay sites don't take it very seriously. For them it's some form of personal amusement and nightly entertainment. They either are married or have a steady boyfriend when they say on there profile they are single or divorced. While the remaining women that are "single" are a bunch of fakes and phonies.
when you have a problem it’s easy for you to blame the Site and the women..............bla..bla.............bla...bla.............and..........son on .
if you are true to yourself and someone will be true for you ok..........

Actually, there was a thread in there recently where a guy had a great date with a girl, and got a similar response at the end, and was then blown off (sounded much like that date you had, and a few I've had). I did make of point of saying that in the thread... that open-ended comments/texts/emails that essentially thank you for the date, with little or nothing else, are definitely not a good sign. Probably not in 100% of cases- but from what I've personally experienced and what I've heard, that seems to be the norm.

I think that con artists have taken over some sites that were completely free and than they became pay sites. Maybe the success stories are fake. Allot more computer dating when I was in my later teens than there is today. Maybe because most sites now are pay sites and today most people for real on the pay sites are not paying them as for distrust.
I think that Many of those for real on match.com or yahoo personals if they go seeking again should come onto this site.
I have been getting a lack of hits and no replies back on pay for free sites. Maybe those pay sites when they were free were allot more responsive. | |

I must admit I've tried a couple of te international sites and many seem to play similar games. I was on CherryBlossoms for a while and I found that at least 70% of people would eventually ask for money or try some other "scam approach.
Many of the international tours sites also seem to be listening the same people. Has anyone tried a Romance Tour. I know you pay for them but I've actually read some good things about a website called A foreign affair. Anyone heard anything else about the international sites? | |

POF is as good a free site as there is, no rip off, and alot of features some of the paying sites dont have. What POF may have is alot more chaff to search thru to find the wheat tho. The one paying site I hated was eharmony. No pics, costly, the emailing process with people they match you up with is a pain in the rear and doesnt facilitate getting to know anyone, and we wont even get into why they only matched me with women hundreds of miles away. Apparently this countr boy has alot in common with NYC women..woohooo. Hey OP, hope you got a better TUDE about online dating and found someone by now. As for me, im the eternal optimist. | |

Their screening rates you for how religious you are. If you don't measure up to their standards of religion you are disqualified.

I've had really good luck on match.com and had a couple of dates that really worked out--one ended up a long term friend that is very dear to me. loveandseek.com also resulted in two very close friendship that grew out of dating. However, this site has the most people in my area and the degree of compatibility has been good to very good. I like that the owners simply use advertising to pay the bills on this one and loveandseek.com (a christian dating site) had the most invasive billing policies and seemed to constantly be trying to get more cash. Ha ha, the irony of it. Anyway, I like it here and think that the forums make it even better. | |

They should on all of the free dating services have a report a concern feature on the profiles if we suspect that they are fake.
I wouldn't come onto this site if I hadn't been into Internet dating or Internet friends.
Maybe the success stories that are fake are set up by pay sites. People really have gotten married with success of eharmony. I know someone who's in the landscaping business who found his girlfriend on match.com.
I never want to get married. I only want long term relationships and that's why I would never try eharmony.
I even tried OK Cupid. | |

I have found on this site unless you are are or willing to be a male chick with d!@k most women here will not talk to you. They want a girlfriend who can take care of their need's Lets see if this post gets deleted before morning they all seem to anymore somebody dont like the truth or men. | |

2. Unlike traditional Dating sites we don't put a pay wall between you and everyone you try and contact.
3. Social Dating is all about giving you tools you need to help YOU find someone. Traditional Paid Dating sites care about the exact opposite, raising prices and trying to keep you around longer. If paid dating sites gave you what you wanted they'd go bankrupt.
4. We delete and banish scammers, its easy to do. Traditional Paid Dating sites have little interest in deleting fake profiles because they could convince you to pay for the service.
This is a reason to not use pay sites anymore.
I don't think that the pay sites care whether or not we find that special someone. Greedy crooks might've taken over them. They should be shaped up by better people while those greedy crooks go to prison on fraud charges. | |

Yahoo Personals is a total rip off!!! Do not give these crooks your credit card number. I signed up a for a 6 month membership 6 months ago, suckered in by the cheaper monthly rate. The selection was poor and I immediately felt ripped off, but I had paid for it so I ate the loss.
6 months later after 5 and a half months of not using the site, I was billed again for the next 6 months. Now I'm ticked off. I ask for a refund and they tell me they will only refund if I contact them within 3 days of the billing. I had contacted them within 5 days so there was nothing they could do. This is total bull s&%t. I have now been forced to pay for something I will never use. | |

then again i would hope that on a pay site the women would be nicer ( i dont mean their looks but in their manner and politeness ) and much more serious.
