Well if it's fine to ask Palestinians to migrate, why don't the Israelis just migrate themselves? What's wrong with them leaving their homeland to find peace and refuge an ocean away?
Jews from Arab lands, over 2 million, were forced to leave with nothing since 1948, in fear of their lives.
They just did the best they could to survive. We don't hear much about it.
There is nothing wrong with Palestinians to filling up this void in Arab countries. | |

my point was give Hezbollah and Hamas the same weapons as are being used against them and they will not resort to the tactics you have referred to.
I am thinking that you don't see the cultural differences. Is it ignorance, or are you teasing us? American Indians didn't suddenly become conventional soldiers when they were given rifles. Neither will Hamas and Hezbollah. Hezbollah had a massive a***nal of rockets, but insisted on firing them from civilian areas. If Israel couldn't buy those weapons, they would build them or use their nukes. If Isreal used Hezbollah and Hamas tactics, Palestine and Lebanon would be a nuclear cleanup zones.

If they are the ones who need a buffer zone to protect themselves from all the Muslim nations that surround them, surely they would be the more logical choice to ask to give up their homeland to seek peace and refuge in, say... the United States where there are many successful Jews.
This history of Israel is fascinating. They created a modern democratic state from a virtual wasteland. The first Zionist settlers had the permission of the Ottomans, the empire that had ruled that section of dirt for hundreds of years. That same empire had not created any modern infrastruture in the region, but had political domain. The Zionists made it into Israel. They cleared swamps and built roads, and as civilization progressed, they progressed. Palestine, on the other hand, was the remnant of the old Ottoman occupation. These people have been living under occupation for hundreds of years, but they were happier under the Ottomans than under the British, and happier under the British than they have been lately.
Most of Palestine was given to Jordan, before Israel declared independence, and the British, not the Ottomans, prevented the Zionists from settling there. If immigration had been forced upon the Palestinians in the early days, the problem would be much smaller. I wasn't suggesting that forced integration or immigration be implemented now, but '48 would have been a good time, and after 67 would have been another. The Arab states forced Israels game, and should be required to take responsibility for their brethren, rather than forcing them to live in subhuman conditions and fight against Israel. The largest part of most Arab nations were occupied by the Ottoman empire prior to WWI. Occupation is not a new experience to Palestinians. The only difference is the race and religion of the occupier.
And what's wrong with Palestinians staying in Palestine?

Even if they didn't become "conventional soldiers", they would no longer be called terrorists if they started using "conventional weapons". And if they were considered terrorists, then you would not be able to argue that Israel is not terroristic in nature using the same "conventional weapons".
If Israel couldn't buy those weapons, they would build them or use their nukes.
And if Hezbollah and Hamas could acquire the resources needed to build F-16's and the missiles fired from them, I'm sure they would as well. But even if they could acquire the proper resources, chances are Israel would blow up any manufacturing facilities where they were being built.

No... only 10 or 15 Lebanese civiliains would be dead at a time instead of hundreds... or do you suddenly not believe they use suicide bombers?

If Arab Jews and Christians could return to their lands, which was theirs long before Islam and the Caliphate, and could live in peace and harmony with their Musllim brothers, it would be great for all. Without fear for their lives, or to be converted with force by extremists.
It definitely will take very strong democratic leaders to achieve such endeavors. | |

It is grotesque watching the Bush Administration and Tony Blair maintain the ludicrous pretense they are re-fighting World War II.
America didn't have a defense industry before WWII and after its rapid deployment in WWII a decision was made to maintain a standing army. This is when the CIA plots to overthrow foreign goverments began - Bolivia, Iran and so on and so forth. These were covert ops though. In the news there's always a great evil to justify massive "defense" spending (for obvious offensive postures) - The forer Soviet Union, Korea, Vietnam and now the Iraqis. Noe of whom of course have ever attacked America. For the record all intel points to Osama as being behind 9/11, a US trained Suadi who objects to US hegeonomy in Saudi Arabia.
So, it seems to me the economy of war has displaced democratic rule in the US and that WWII never really ended for them.
This of course is exacly what Eisenhower warned Americans - in his word - "gravely" about in his farwell address in 1960.
The standing army is frightening in its paralells to Imperial Rome and was of course the downfall of Rome. President Washington also warned of "foreign entanglements" subverting democratic ideals.
Look ah how much has been spent on the US on wars since 1945 - it's on the order of dozens of trillions of dollars and consider what could have been done with that money instead. | |

There never was a country called "Suadi Arabia" before the war either. But in both cases the people there had been there for literally centuries. The palastinians are pissed because they've been kicked out of their land of their fathers which is now occupied by people who in many cases were born in Europe. The mess made by the creation of Israel is arguably the fount of the mess in the middle east and the more western powers interfere in the middle east the worse it gets for those western powers. | |

Posted: 6/1/2007 6:34:39 PM | War is big business and terrorism feeds right into religion with it's fear, hell and sin psychological components.Many seemingly conservatives support the "War on Terror and Islamo-Fascists" because they have retired and invested their nest egg in military corporations such as Grumman and General Electric.
So while they don't really believe in "islamo-fascism" they like to keep saying it's credible so their stock values go up. They actually feel a touch guilty by it all.
Do you actually believe this BS?? Are there UFOs' that the government has been hiding and let me guess - GWB actually planned 9/11 so that he could justify the war?? You conspiracy theorists crack me up | |
