You said I called you stupid, which I did not. I merely asked if you read it because you've given numerous examples of not reading nor understanding the original post.

| How to meet someone at the gym :) Posted: 9/1/2006 12:15:21 PM | | I go tot he gym to work out- but it's also a place I spend a fair bit of my time and if there are guys there with similar interests to mine (such as working out) what is wrong with meeting people there? I tend to be shy at the gym myself so havn't but woudl love for some nice guy to come talk to me while we are working out. | |

Thanks :)
Are you having a bad day? Don't worry, some guy will hit on you at the gym eventually.
I just don't think she's getting it. I haven't twisted any of her words. I quoted exactly what she said and she got herself into a hissy fit for apparently no reason.
Speaking of "twisting words" she says I called her stupid but can't seem to find that in any of my post.

personally, i wouldn't be caught dead in a gym, nor would i date someone who hung out there.
Most people I have seen in my gym are there to work out, not really "hang out." Poseurs are pretty easy to spot....they're not sweating

| How to meet someone at the gym :) Posted: 9/1/2006 2:32:15 PM | | now I do have to say something about that- soemtimes I go to the gym on my lunchtime from work. I have no time to take off makeup and work out then put it on again- only wear eyeliner anyway but sometimes that might be the reason they are still wearing makeup- jsut timing. Weekends are different- ponytail and no makeup. | |

| How to meet someone at the gym :) Posted: 9/1/2006 2:47:39 PM | I work out with my best freind who is a gorgeous guy so know what you mean- but oh well we work really hard and challenge each other and guys have told him in the changeroom he is lucky to have such an in shape wife- Lol Perhaps you'll see her again when you are there with your daughter and she can slip a "Dad" into the conversation wehn you're near her. :)
I still can't understand why people are so up in arms about this topic. The man smiled at a girl and they had a conversation- what could possibly be wrong with that. If she didn't want to be bothered she would not have talked to him. simple really.

the point to all of this is NOT the fact that he was at the gym! but the fact that he made a polite approach, introduces himself get her name and has a conversation,, he could have done this anywhere,, it just happens to be at a gym,, he could have been at a grocery store and done the same thing I am totally agree. I don't understand why all people are so ****y about this? WE don't look the best in the gym, so? If someone would ask my name in a grosery store, I would be insulted. In gym, where I spend almost every morning, it wouldn't be so bad. If I see someone every morning, I can even remember the face. I'd give my name and we could just talk when we have to do all these stupid things anyway. When I am on treadmil, I am reading magazines, but other time, it's boring. Why not to talk?
I was with my 16 yo daughter and peole still talk to me, to her...........what's so bad about it?
I think OP told us really good example how to meet people....................and it definitely doesn't have anything to do with him personally. It looks like some women have personal problems with that.oh well
Women wear make-up after work, or another reason. I personally don't but all my friends do. And I know they are not hitting on guys...so ridiculous even to think that

Umm, 'coz they didn't read the first post too well :)

Hey I take it as a compliment. If someone is attracted to me when I look like heck, they're gonna really like me when I clean myself up :)
If someone would ask my name in a grosery store, I would be insulted.
Why?! What's the difference between a gym, grocery store, walking along the sidewalk, the gas station, movie theatre line, etc?! If someone is attracted to you and has the guts to come up and say hello, that's a great thing!

Oh I see, you mean because you are familiar with them. I talk to everyone in the gym, but that's just me. I'm extroverted.

That's all I was trying to do is show that anytime, anywhere you can meet someone if you are keen on timing and signals. The goal wasn't to get some digits and try and score, it was to build a rapport with her so I can get to know her better over time. There's no rush.

Women wear makeup for many reasons. Like I said, I think they look better without it, but that's just my personal opinion.

But I wouldn't give my name unless they meet me every Sunday at my favorite store..lol I live in a small town and people generally don't walk here - they drive. It's not too many chances to meet anybody at sidewalk.lol I am an extrovert, too, so for me it's not a problem to start conversation. But in the gym it's possible to chat, to smile, to exchange local news or something........ I persoanlly think it's much more comfortable place to start conversation. Especially when after pool I am waiting for my daughter to finish her shower (and apply her make-up....lol), I sit in the lobby at least 10-15 minutes. I always have great conversation with people over there

| How to meet someone at the gym :) Posted: 9/1/2006 4:17:59 PM | ((but have ya noticed the women that wear make up to work out, that drives me nuts, haha))
Drives you nuts??? Try being there with your hair up in a messy pony tail..no makeup on..sweat pouring out of you, with your ipod on loud so you don't hear the two bimbettes who look like they are on a man hunt chattering like cackling hens on the treadmills next to you (or worse on either side of you). And here I thought you guys liked having that eye candy to watch.

| How to meet someone at the gym :) Posted: 9/1/2006 4:26:11 PM | I dont go to the gym to meet girls. I go to train hard.
That said, I have met a girl at the gym, but it wasnt anything like one of us just hitting on the other and hooking up. We were training in the same gym for over a year before we even started talking to eachother. Then we talked and became friends before we even mentioned meeting outside of the gym.
I would never ask out a random girl at the gym. People making women uncomfortable at the gym is the reason they now have Curves and other womens gyms. Trust me, ive had some chicks make comments to me when im trying to train, and it wierds me out.
Sure I glance, take a quick look now and then, women are beutiful and I am only a man, but I let them train in peace..

And here I thought you guys liked having that eye candy to watch. What is wrong with that? Young girls supposed to be beautiful.that's the nature. I like to watch them too. I didn't pay attention if they attract guys, but hopefully they do.
My daughter is 16 and she never can go anywhere w/o make up. So what? it's the age.....and even in gym it's still life. I never compare how pretty they are in the gym in compariosn to me. They work out -- if they look pretty at the same time -- better for them.
I don't -- ohh well I am not ashemed, you know
