Posted: 12/2/2008 7:23:30 PM | I would not agree with "ALL HORROR MOVIES." There are a lot of good ones out there. If a horror movie fails you can at least laugh at it. Comedies are worse when they're bad because there isn;t even laughter to be had.
So skip Cabin Boy. Trust me on that. | |

That gilded turd is also known as 'Magnolia'. That movie had so many people that Ilike in it, I kept waiting for it to start getting good, but it never did. Another crappy one was 'Meet Joe Black'. I cheered when that one was over. | |

Um hello!?!?! that movie is priceless... simply priceless...
i watched that movie growing up, and i have loved it ever since, it's impossible not to laugh, its SUPPOSED to be stupid it has leslie Neilson in it *** Point made***
it's supposed to be dumb..
the odd couple was good, any and all of the jaws movies are cool, okay maybe not the LAST one, where they tried to incorporate animation into it.. but they tried..
back to bad movies, X-files (the first one)
i'm still sticking to worst movie EVER made = Perfume
seriously, you watch it, and you will know why..
and buddy, if you make that thread for movies almost never heard that are good..
put in "Darby o'Gil and the Little People" - Sean Connery is like 20 in that movie, one of his firsts! | |

I prefer the Mel Brooks Magic in Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. (Now those films were funny!) This flick was Community Theatre/High School Drama Club funny.

Posted: 12/5/2008 3:19:26 AM | How about Napoleon Dynamite? It was so hyped up and when I FINALLY got to rent it, it blew. I sat through the whole thing wondering when it was going to get funny and it never did.
I just read an article in Spin that says for a brief time in the 80's, Elvis Costello tried to distance himself from his name and assumed the persona of a nightclub MC named Napoleon Dynamite. When asked about it, Costello says, "It was strange. The guy [director Jared Hess] just denies completely that I made that name up! He says that somebody came down on a... flaming pie and told him that name. But I invented it! Maybe somebody told him the name and he truly feels that he came about it by chance. But it's two words that you're never going to hear together."
I really dislike people who steal other people's creative material with no kudos or reference to them. Kind of like Carlos Mencia, but that's another story. | |

The previews looked like it was an emotional drama, but really it was a poorly written, poorly directed film which went nowhere and the characters just stumbled through the entire movie. THIS movie should NEVER have been mentioned in THIS thread. Yes, I agree it was an excellent movie, but to even be MENTIONED in something with a subject title of "Movies to never rent"? There are MANY movies I have enjoyed, and many I have lamented even viewing. The lamentable bear announcing here. The good ones should NOT be. | |

Chronicles of Riddick, "see once". Now, I agree with that. I
thoroughly enjoyed that movie, AS a "one-shot". I have seen and
enjoyed MANY "one-shot" movies, NONE of which I would care to see
again. It got me going at the time I saw it, but there was not enough
push to it inspiring me to view it again. Almost like an awe-inspiring
prostitute that I would quite willingly pay to fvck ONE time, but
would not care to see her again. | |

Troma movies; tried and FAILED. NONE that I have seen inspired the

I watched it because the TRAILER was one of the BEST I've seen. Uhh,
trailers apparently are MEANT to be deceiving. While this movie was
not the WORST I have seen, it definitely rates right down there.

OK, I agree here. But, PLEASE, if you choose to state an actor's NAME,
SPELL it PROPERLY. The NAME is "Keanu Reeves". He is an excellent
actor, in SPITE of the fact that he portrayed roles in less than
stellar movies.
Darby O' Gill and the Little People was awesome.
Goes without saying. But I maintain that EXCELLENT movies do NOT belong on THIS forum.
Does anyone know the definition of "Off Topic"? THIS is IT!
