| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/9/2008 5:05:07 AM | I don't agree that any of us should be "looking" for a partner. It's important to just live your life, involving yourself in activities and hobbies that are meaningful for you. If someone comes along, that's great but if not, it's important to learn to be comfortable with living alone and feeling complete within yourself. Spiritual or religious practice of some type is also very helpful, in this regard, as is doing humanitarian work which makes you focus on others, not on our own desires only.

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/9/2008 11:49:21 PM | Boys & Girls Can We Say - You Are NEVER too old? Own it and believe it.
At 48 I am in a relationship with a very nice younger man. Yes, I am gay and he is bisexual but it's all good - we are in love and totally devoted to each other. We have been together for 6 FABULOUS years!
If I can do it at 48 then why not at....58-68-78-88-98?
You are really and truly never too old! Age=Experience, Patience and too many other good things to list.

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/10/2008 3:57:10 AM | Never too old. It's the contact and the intimacy I miss, as you say reaching out and pushing hair from a face, that catching of each other's eye and the smile, which makes you feel special. Knowing at the end of a bad day someone is there who cares. Who wouldn't want that? I am 63 and haven't given up, not yet | |

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/10/2008 10:08:51 AM | | My nan is 92 and has gentlemen friends she says at her age life is too short for tying herself to one man...how old is too old? Depends on ones perception I am 51years young. | |

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/10/2008 7:44:12 PM | | Dang, if the fifties is considered too old, then I must have reached the ancient stage at 71! | |

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/10/2008 8:21:31 PM | There's no such thing as too old. I just turned 59 on the 1st and I feel better about myself as a woman that ever in my life. 90% of sex and relationships takes place above the shoulders.
I frequently get young men emailing me saying they LOVE older women. I asked one why one time and he said "Because they are SO grateful!" I just had to laugh. These young men think they are such studs when in reality I think most women prefer a man who is seasoned like a fine wine and has learned the intricacies of pleasing a woman.
I love the bumper sticker that says, "If things get better with time, I'm damned near perfect!" That's the attitude!

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/10/2008 10:02:04 PM | .
A gal I know was saying that she hardly ever gets to meet eligible men with her interests. She’s 66 now and has just about given up.
I asked her what the age range was she was most interested in and she replied that it didn’t matter much anymore, as long as they were nice. So, I told her about a friend of mine who happens to be very well educated, a very good musician (like her), slim and trim and takes good care of himself -- and is retired but still teaches as a substitute teacher just for something to do. This guy doesn’t just work out every day, he also walk/runs a few miles every day. She’s a very good musician and he has a master’s degree in music and still writes and composes.
She was very interested, and he was, too, when I told him about her. So, I showed them each others photos and then gave each the other’s phone number.
Alas, neither ever asked me the age of the other and I didn’t volunteer that information.
Turns out, their first date ended up at his apartment, which is also a very fancy music studio, and they laid down recording tracks, rather than each other, (I heard some of what they played that night on his keyboards and it is excellent!).
So, apparently there were mostly musical dates, only sometimes interrupted by going out to eat and catching a cool musician, or two, playing around town.
But then, suddenly, the stuff hit the fan big time! She called to say that I deceived her, which I most certainly did not. My friend is not a bullshiter in any way. So, when she asked when his birthday was, he told her. Well, she’s well educated, too, and can count good. She’s 66 and had been really enjoying a lot of time spent with a 78 year old man.
Whoops!
Therefore, she was a bit upset with me. But, she said that age was “open” and I reminded her of that. And, “interests” were very important to her. That was a fit. Also, she wanted “active,” because she does a lot of gym time with us. A great fit yet again.
“But he’s way too old for me!” she said.
“Yup, and there is nothing you will ever enjoy with him because he is older than us,” I replied.
“Shut up!” she said.
Nope, OP, women our age didn’t run out of “bate.” A lot of guys are too lazy to be biting, though. Hell, I’m one of them, if you listen to some people around here. I happen to know many very nice women my age. But, most are married and some are recent widows and not all that interested in dating anyone.
Personally, I know of four couples in their 60s who were marred within the past two years. Better, I know of three more -- two from here -- who will do the deed this year. Okay, they might not be in their 60s, but they are well over 45 years old.
And so what does someone like me want? Easy: a gal that’s a little nuts, has a good brain for common stuff, and has real interests that she can do while I’m spending time writing. And, unless I find a good artist, or another writer, that will probably not happen.
Bummer that, but that’s the way it is.

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/11/2008 9:23:05 AM | Absolutely dbndon.. I don't think it is hard to find someone, just harder to find someone who is compatible, as least that is my take of it.
We are never too old, but as we get older, our interest often change. I would not to be joined at the hip (well, most of the time) with any man. 24/7 would be too much for me, so someone who has their own interests and I have mine, would be great.
Now to just find him, LOL

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/11/2008 10:11:41 AM | Last week I meet a couple that had just married. He was 80 she was 83. They had been sweethearts as kids but each had married other people. They both had lost their spouses and after dating again for two years got married. Oh and the way I met them- he was onstage with a bluegrass group and she was sitting beside me and was so proud of him that she leaned over and said thats my new hubby, then told me their story. marsha | |

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/11/2008 11:49:11 AM | | Probably you will never see this and then again you might, so should you, know this...your comments were compassionate, kind and very accurate... there was a sense of dignity in the scenario, and the inevitible, though we may wish it away, comes. How utterly joyfull you made the end.... I'm reminded of the poem in which Dylan thomas admonishes us "Do not go into that good night, but rage, rage, against the dying of the light"...I think that we can go ...gently, and lovingly and hopefully. I believe in love, and it believes in me.When we meet, is in the moment we allow it. Roger M. | |

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/11/2008 11:56:03 AM | Personally, I've always had a thing for older men. There's just something sexy about an older, confident man that knows how to slow dance, and smells good, dressed in khaki's and loafers (minus the socks) ......lord, don't get me started !
I've never dated younger; they always got on my nerves. The trouble now is I can't even find an older man that appreciates a little chubby southern belle....lol!

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/12/2008 7:30:10 AM | | I know I'm not as attractive as I used to be, yes I'm looking older. I better get used to it and get a good attitude about it. | |

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/12/2008 11:20:58 AM | I have never felt better about myself as I have in the last few yrs. When I started this journey of online dating I was scared shitless but having been on and off a few sites over the last few yrs I have met some wonderful men and women and have been fortunate enough to have had a few relationships. We can never give up on frienship ,intimacy, love or learning for if we do I think it affects many aspects of life and it leaves such a void... a void I would never want to experience but have seen. I'm not a quitter I'm to stubborn, I'm not getting to far but hey I love the challenge and I know he's out there...somewhere...youhoo where are you? hey I'm over here. | |

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/13/2008 9:13:36 PM | Well I am 74 and can hardly believe it myself.I have never felt old and I don't act old.I would love to meet a good companion but if I don't it would not be the end of the world to me.I see no reason to ever marry again at this age, that is just out of the question for me.I like my freedom and yet I enjoy the company of a man.I am a one man woman but I like my space. We never get over wanting love and affection but life is wonderful with or without it.In my humble opinion. | |

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/14/2008 6:37:56 AM | I had an incident happen yesterday that is very appropriate for this thread.
I was emailed by a "gentleman"....and I use that word loosely, on another dating website. He was 53 (6 years younger than me)...long hair down to his shoulders (which is fine if that floats your boat...it doesn't float mine)....looked like a washed up "Marlboro Man" who had been ridden hard and put up wet. Says he would like to "rock my world", etc.
Being the lady that I am, I politely told him I wasn't interested in meeting someone that much younger than me. He writes back that age is just a number he would like to "interject some young blood into my life" that he was like milk and "does a body good".
ME: "I know age is just a number...I am a very young 59, but I have my personal reasons for not wanting to date anyone younger." (Still trying to be a lady)
HIM: "I think I know what your personal reasons are....I'm not like that. Come on baby, give me a chance."
ME: "No. Thanks."
HIM: "Well, I hope you have a lifetime of geritol and viagra on hand for the old geezers you meet...you're going to need it. If you change your mind, I'll still be here needing my diaper changed (since you think I'm so young)...oh and I LOVE breastfeeding, any volunteers?"
It took every ounce of restraint I had not to email him back and write: "You pig! You sure DO need your diaper changed because you are DEFINITELY FULL OF SH!T!!! (note to self: Don't throw this pig back in the pond....throw him in the sewer were he belongs)
It just amazes me how, like this creep, some people think love, sex and all things good disappear or diminish when you age. The love of my life to this point was 8 years older than me (he was 66) and made me very happy in every way without viagra, without geritol, etc. Anyone with a mindset that you become "too old" has his/her head up their a$$.

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/14/2008 8:59:08 AM | Thanks, Namats...I'll try to remember that the next time I'm throwing up over an email from the next "gift to women". The funny thing is, in his picture he looked much older than the 66 year old I dated!
Older and wiser men need to teach these self-centered, egotistical "studs" (and again, I use that term loosely) a thing or two about how to attract women.
Maybe if he would get his hair out of his eyes he could see a way to get his head out of his a$$!

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/14/2008 9:09:58 AM | | My aunt, who is 94, has an s.0.. My Mom dated well into her 80's. I will be 60 this month, and I am very fortunate to have a number of men friends. I just recently "chaperoned" a valentine event at an assisted living center. Not a person there was under 70, and they seemed to have a wonderful time interacting. | |

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/14/2008 4:53:27 PM | I think I know where you are comeing from. For me it's all about mind set and yes perhaps age can get in the way if we go to far south/north I have also messaged women who were only a few years younger and have gotten the same reply or not. I'll tell you a secret ha ha and like know one will know eh My former was 11 yrs younger than I and not so long ago either. Her daddy told her to get a younger man and she listened. Some people just have hangups. Keep calling the younger guys would be my advise as not everyone is that way.

| How Old is Too Old? Posted: 3/14/2008 5:49:49 PM | Age is just relative if we let it control us, I must not be that old as I still have not decided what I want to be when I grow up. When people ask me my age My response is I don!t mind admitting my Age just don!t ask me to act it. I find that this is the time in my life that I can offer my partner all my attention and do not have the pressures of work or raising a family. Although things take a little longer to do, I never begrudge the Time. I guess I am a hopeless Romantic and Plan on looking until I find My Friend/partner/lover. | |
