How Old is Too Old?
Posted: 3/14/2008 5:54:09 PM
Rose, I am with you on this one. I get IM'd by youngsters all the time and when I tell them I have grandkids their age, they think I am "COOL". Well, I may have grey hair and be older(soon to be 66) but I am not desperate. I still parasail, hot air balloon, dive and ride my own motorcycle( had my first Harley at 14) and refuse to let anyone tell me I am "too old" My kids gave up on that a long time ago.... I lost my husband and my mom last year and after being a caregiver(don't reget that) for a long time I am making time for me and doing what I want. I am preparing to make a move cross country to Montana to live, know no one there , but things there I want to see and do. If it doesn't work out , I will go to warmer climate... It would be nice to have someone to share with but I refuse to settle on just anyone, especially someone 30 yrs younger. I love my share of sex but there is a whole lot more to life than that and the young guys don't understand that ! My dad taught me how to build a house w/roof before I was out of high school and I rode on a motorcycle before I could walk... I am going to live life to the fullest before they put me down........

Silverfox...YOU GO GIRL!!! I love the quote that says "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intent of arriving safely in a well preserved body, rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, a candy bar in one hand, a margarita in the other and loudly proclaiming "Holy Sh*t! What a Ride"!

I really believe that's what it's all about...enjoying life, with that special someone or on your own. ...just go for it! There are no age restrictions on joy, happiness and a zest for life. At 59 I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life. If I meet the man of my dreams, my happiness may increase...but it won't go away if I don't.

You are never too old! It's your attitude that makes you attractive/unattractive!

There are young people who are good looking who are miserable poopie-doopies.

There are old people who are butt ugly who are fun & kind & interesting.

And the gamut of everything else in between.

The fun-loving, positive people are out LIVING & LOVING.

The miserable old currs are home spewing venom in their crypts.

I am taking geritol for my soul!

I think after all this time it is safe to say that there is no one for me. Women just find me ugly So unless the earth is going to change its axis, it will be the same thing.

I think you would/could find the right woman for you if you would change your attitude.
Think Positive
Know what qualities you would like in a woman.
Take time to get to know them before you meet them.
Don't rush into a relationship; take time to enjoy companionship

Love will Blossom

no such animal as too old, quote from someone i knew years ago, said,"never to old till you die, then its to late to worry about" age is a number, nothing more, read in a profile, female by birth, woman by age, lady by choice. if you were too old for them, then keep fishing, they wouldnt have been right for you in the first place. you just weeded through some of the throw backs. nothing more, dont give it a second thought.

This is a good one! You get to decide when you get to that point!

I do believe older is better (for me anyway.) I'm at that stage of my life when I appreciate an older man.

I've had to tell a couple of men that they are too young for me, more recently. One was very young (25) and the other one was in his mid- thirties. It's all relative. Some men (haha....boys) like older women, and vise versa. There are those that like to date women who are in their 'ball park' age group, and those that enjoy the younger ladies.

Whatever works for you; whatever floats your boat. Go for it. My take is that you're never too old to live your life at its best.

I don't think any person is too old unless they look it and act it. If the person is in good shape, has kept her face up (whether through good genes, good facial cleasing and moisturizing, or light surgery -- as opposed to major surgery that has left the face so stretched that it looks like shoe leather), and has a youthful upbeat personality, I think that it's never too late to date. Of course, at that age, the person should be thinking of marriage instead of just dating.

Again, it depends on the looks. Frankly, let's face it, no one wants to be with a person who just doesn't look good and who looks old -- not even the old men. In fact, some old men are the worst. They obviously haven't looked at themselves in a mirror in decades, yet they expect the woman to be perfect!

I suspect that the younger men who want to date older women are looking for a free ride sugar momma. Yeah, right - I would NEVER pay for any guy's way! I must say, though, that I have had a few invites here and there from guys in their mid to late thirties and they were going to treat me out. I said no, of course. I have always liked the older men and feel comfortable with them.

I think that everyone is looking for a different kind of partner in a relationship—and we all have our “preferred criteria”. There’s nothing wrong with that. “Plenty of fish”, you know?

Personally I prefer older women. Older women tend to be more emotionally stable than younger women; they tend to have a better idea as to what they want (and don’t want) out of life; and they tend to have a much more relaxed, and appreciative nature. All these qualities lead toward the kind of relationship I enjoy. And, as a bonus, older women offer a certain type of beauty that younger women just can’t possess. Not to mention that their libido is usually stronger :-D

Sure some of the younger ladies can be nice to look at. Beyond that, though, what kind of a relationship do you want? Maybe some guys can find that in a younger woman. That’s great! That means less competition for me!

mc608, I believe one's ability to get dates is in direct proportion to how they feel about themselves. If your self image sucks, you present yourself as wanting and needy. If you think you are the bomb, then potential dates will too. What works for me are positive ind me affirmations. Believe it or not, a lot of women don't find me as cute as a I really am. So I say the following to myself several times a day, especially when my self image starts to crack:

I look great, I feel great, I act great, I am great.

Sounds silly, doesn't it? Try it, you have nothing to lose except a crappy self image.
