I'm 48 now but I still feel the same inside as when I was around 30 - so I'm still awaiting the growing up bit...
As I teach in an aged care facility I see people who are OLD 85+ and when I see them smile and share a joke I realise that if they can still enjoy life - then what the hell have I to complain about!
Love life and enjoy every day!!!

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/3/2006 8:48:50 AM | | Actually, I can't wait to get old. My gramma just went into assisted living and gets her meals made, laundry done, can participate in all kinds of activities.......I want to move in. It'll be fun to yell at kids, get a yappy dog with a perpetual curl to it's lip, drink port, smoke cigars, and wear red lipstick that bleeds into all of the lines around my mouth. I think I'll order my cane now. | |

I figured 53 no mate, no money no need to compromise cause you got nothin to lose. I thought man freedom do come with age don't it. Now everybody tells me there is life after 50. shucks.

Posted: 9/3/2006 10:35:23 AM | | age is only a number its how you feel health wise that makes a person feel that age whether it be 40,50,60 or beyond... personally I think life tends to move to quick to have any time to think about getting old it just seems to happen in the blink of an eye

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/3/2006 1:32:04 PM | | Actually, there is one other aspect to getting older besides how we ourselves feel. That is how the world perceives us. My experience has been that the world sees your physical age and responds accordingly. I know that I use to get a lot better service from the place that changes my oil, the clerk in the grocery store, the waiter at the restaurant down the road than I get now. Maybe not better service, but a nicer attitude. A little more small talk and a lot more banter. Sorry to say, but no matter what we feel like, the people out there see what we look like. Wish it wasn't so, but it sure looks to me like it is. | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/3/2006 6:52:41 PM | OK! I figured out how to do this! trust me, it should work..
I get all the books and papers and magazines that have the word "old:" in them
Ya with me so far?
Then, I dig a pit in the back yard.
I burn all those nasty papers until there is nothing left but ashes in the hole..
Then, when 'old age' comes along........
I kick it in the 'ash hole'..and bury it!!!..
Think it will work? | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/4/2006 8:12:02 AM | | Being that my birthday is in 2 days, how I do feel about getting old? Well I have heard people say that the 40's is the best time of their life...and you know what so far I think they are right! People are more mature in their 40's and I like that. So I guess I don't mind turning another year in my forties! | |
