| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2007 8:04:16 AM | Hmm, let's see after staining an entire wooden patio set and caulking the outside of my house, I'm feeling muscles that I haven't felt in awhile. Also the joints are a bit squeaky so I'm tending to those with WD-40
Growing old? I expect to do so with grace and dignity. The only thing I'm not liking about the aging process is those damn white hairs in my eyebrows.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2007 8:09:46 AM | I'm trying to get used to it. It never bothered me until I started losing my hair, then it didn't bother me until my face got loads of lines, then it didn't bother me until I realised that lots of women on POF excluded me due to the fact that I'm over 30, or over 35 and that lots of older women keep saying that older men are not as youthful as they are.
I like the fact that I'm getting older.
I don't like the fact that I'm still single, and I'm suddenly becoming excluded from things because people have an age limit.
That's why I'm going to marry an alien.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2007 8:55:37 AM | | I hate being 55 the thought that most men are lucky to reach 70 means that I might have less than 15 years left ........ and it makes me feel like doing something really daft like packing in work, selling my home and blowing everything on seeing some of the world ...while I am still feeling fit and healthy enough to enjoy it. | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2007 10:37:54 AM | In my mind and spirit I am still 25 and always will be. Yet my body constantly reminds me that I'm not.
Remember that old Twilight Zone episode where this old couple goes into a place and the man somehow transfers himself to a younger body?? Man, if only we could invent something like that...

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2007 2:06:22 PM | How do I feel about getting old? We don't have a choice in the matter, but do I have to like it? Nope... I hate getting old.. Sure I am wiser (I think) then when I was younger, but old age isn't something I look forward to. I work with the elderly, and know I will be there sooner than I want to. But I don't have to like it | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/2/2007 2:39:37 PM | Granted, getting older isn't necessarily "user friendly" (lol) and it can be depressing, and most frightful but the "Other Option," I'm soooo not ready for yet so I exercise, eat right and find things/projects I like to do for myself and others...visiting nursing homes, working with students in schools, makeovers for everyone. When the blues hit as they will, I go with the flow and realize that I'm feeling what is natural and not a lot I can do about it but accept it and try to combat the Aging Demon of the moment. That's why I'm on here, it helps to have those with similiar situations to vent with...glad the forum is here and you all too! As The Beatles would sing, "Turn off your mind and relax and float downstream..." Let's help each other! peace, BW | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/3/2007 8:41:54 AM | When I ask my father how he's doing he always says he's another day older (he's 86). When he asks me how I'm doing, I answer...I'm as young today as I'm ever going to be, gotta love today. | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/3/2007 5:22:36 PM | | How do I like getting old?.....I like it, mainly because the alternative sucks! Sure, I have more aches and pains, and some things take me longer to do, but SOME things are much better because of the experience I have gained during this growing old period. I dont feel like I am old, I still enjoy a lot of things that I did when I was much younger, so as long as the good lord grants me another day, I am going to enjoy it! | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/4/2007 6:05:50 AM | | Want to know what I think...it seriously feeling like fine wine. Sometimes a bit of pizazz sometimes a bit silly and sometimes a bit youthful. Perhaps even a bit spicy or maybe spunky. | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/4/2007 5:26:47 PM | I HATE IT!!!!!
Just this weekend, I went on a great date - camping, hiking, canoeing, biking and extreme sailing. Today -- I am sooooo sore! Give me those days of youth, strength and muscles of steel. AHHH, the good, young days.

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/4/2007 7:07:03 PM | | It's funny, but I seldom think of myself as old. I know I am, because I am nearly 67, but I am having too much fun to worry about that. I swim several times a week, take dancing lessons. Date men - some my age, some younger. Still enjoy sex and kissing and hugging. I have several hobbies having to do with flowers and they are my passions. I belong to clubs, and do some charity work. The one thing I don't do is to make time for getting old. My mom is 92, and has no physical problems. Her father lived to 102 and had black lung disease. I am going to live for a while and I am actively looking for someone to join me on the next episode of my life. Some have said they hate getting old. I'll let you know when I get there. | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/4/2007 7:18:08 PM | I think some of you look incredible for your age. I hope I get to keep my youthful look for a long time to come. | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/4/2007 7:42:15 PM | Some days I look in the mirror and then I throw a towel over it, other days I look at my reflection and think, "not bad for 50 something"...its all about attitude...someone said "growing old is mandatory...growing up is optional

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/4/2007 7:45:52 PM | My dad who lived to be 93, always used to say "I still feel the same inside as when I was young.." and I now totally relate to what he meant. But that is what I hate about aging, you feel like the young you, think like the younger you but sure as heck don't look like or feel like the young you. What I hate most of all is the patronizing crap I get from waitresses and other service people - the "how are you honey and well sweetie, ok dear" gag gag gag, I am not thier sweetie, honey or dear and whenever I get the chance I let them know that I don't want to be called that _I'd rather be called a mean old witch than any of those patronizing terms. As for attitude, oh yeah, of course it helps, but it sure doesn't take care of the limits in our bodies, minds etc. And for all of you who are under 55, and think it's all a matter of attitude, boy, are you in for a shock HA! But, as everyone else has already stated - the alternative just isn't appealing at all Keep that rock 'n roll turned up loud please! | |

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/4/2007 8:53:26 PM | I've got my share of aches and pains and there are things like wilderness backpacking that I don't see myself ever doing again. I think the trick is to be sure you continue to find enjoyment in things.... and you may have to look new places for that enjoyment. I have always enjoyed film and now I'm making short videos that I put on YouTube, a wonderful new creative outlet for me. Just as you may have to make new friends as the old ones move away or pass away, you may have to pick up new hobbies and interests that are suitable to who you are at this age versus 22. There are lots of choices!
A lot of folks have posted some variant on "getting old is no fun but it beats the alternative." I like to say "It's too late for me to live hard, die young and leave a good-looking corpse, so I might as well just do what I please at this point."

| how do you feel about getting old? Posted: 9/5/2007 6:19:57 PM | | It's been happening since I've been born, so I'm pretty much used to it. Since I have no recollection of any "previous" lives, being "old" (whatever that is) is something I've never done before. I'm gonna make the most of it and have a blast! | |
