So many factors - i.e. stress, lack of sleep, hormonal imbalances, steroids (not the ones stupid body builders use, but the ones that doctors prescribe to lessen inflamation), thyroid problems - ad the list goes on. Many BBWs are quite fit and loathe the idea of sitting on the couch eating bon-bons. | |

I know, I was in a marriage for 27 years, my ex was not interested in sex, and it got to the point where he did what he felt like doing and I was not included, I felt along most of the time and I finally left him for someone else who is over 300 lbs, I myself am over 200 lbs right now, but slowly losing weight. The last person I was with ended up leaving in the middle of the night and I don't know why, he is the one over 300lbs. But I don't think anyone should stay in a marriage just because of their grown children, and if they can't accept it, they have a problem.

Posted: 11/6/2006 2:36:50 AM | I know that being a big girl all my life, I have been subjected to all the names, attitudes, and been discriminated against. I am not even that big, all things considered. (I am 5'7" and I am a 20/24 depending on the cut). I am curveacous, voluptuous, all those words that mean I have big boobs, thighs and a big butt. I dress well, to accentuate my "attributes". But in the great state of California, anything past a size 7/8 is considered thick, chubby, chunky or any other cute way of saying a few pounds over weight. Once u get to an 11, u are on the "big girl" side, and with each size , u get a new discription.
Marilyn Monroe was a size 8, but they have been making sizes smaller throughout the years. So a size 8 in the 1950's is equal to just under a size 14 today. (Look it up if u don't believe me, her measurements were 38-23-36 an she was 5'4" tall.)
MARILYN MONROE, THE SEX SYMBOL OF A GENERATION WAS A SIZE 14! That is considered a BBW by todays standards, in other words, FAT! This is the same group of people who call Kate Winslet (Titanic) and Drew Barrymore(Wedding Singer) chubby!
I read in my new People magazine that they are designing a new "designer line" of clothes for a size sub-zero. That's funny, I thought All designer clothes were for size sub-zero. Do u know how hard it was up until about 3 years ago to find nice, flattering clothes for BBW that didn't look like a business suit or something my gramma would wear? Then there is the option that I like to call "I've just given up" either sweats and a t-shirt or the Muu-Muu. I have never worn either option, so I had to get clothes and alter them myself.
Kirsty Alley claimed she weighed 207 LBS at her largest, yet I know that she wore a size 24 and is 5'8" tall, she has an inch on me in height, but other than that, WE WORE THE EXACT SAME SIZE. I WISH I weighed 207 LBS! Try 250. She lied because being fat has never been acceptable, and once she lost her weight, she "came clean" stating it was really 219 lbs originally, which is still untrue.
My point is that BBW is a term that is used and depending on who is using it, is depending on how big they mean. Hollywood means an 11 and up. Normal society means 16 and up.
I am a beautiful, voluptuous, smart and sexy BBW, thank u very much. I am sexy as hell, and I am a lot of fun to be with and around. Anyone who would overlook me because of my size is the one who is losing out as far as I am concerned. | |

I went through all of that myself while I was growing up. Being ridiculed for being overweight, and I've also gone through the whole discrimination thing as well. I remember walking into a Brooks Brothers last year to get fitted for a tuxedo, and I was told without a measurement they did not have my size for a jacket. When I asked up to what size they had, they told me a number that didn't seem to be correct from what I remembered in their catalog. When I requested a copy of their catalog from the cashier, and showed them the size they went up to, they said they didn't do big & tall in the store, that I would need to order it from the catalog, and take it elsewhere for alterations. The store was in an upper class neighborhood back in Ohio.
Since moving to California though, I see what you are getting at. Someone told me that some stores wouldn’t carry the XXL size because they don't want to give people the impression they may be fat by having it on the racks.
I've always been asked why I prefer larger women, I say because I am larger myself, and find BBW's to be just as sexy as any other woman. If it's a fetish, so be it. | |

I myself like to be around people who don't downsize someone for their weight, when in my early day of going out to bar, way back in the early 1980's, most of the guys I talked with perfered woman that where a bit on the plus size, as they said, they liked girls who liked to be them self and like to talk and go place and not be showy. As long as the person is on the plus side and is happy with them self and walks proud, like I do, I am on the plus side and have been as far back as I can remember, and yes, growing up heavy and trying to find clothes that fit right, isn't easy. Where in Cal. do you live, look up on the computer for big and tall stores and see if there is one near you. I am sure somewhere here in CA they have one.   | |

I argee on most of what you where saying, thing have changed over the years. I personally think the first few dates should have respect on both sides and not rushing in on having sex, only if both what it, for myself, I like it when a gentleman opens the door for me, and wishes to take me out for a meal, and it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg, and if he wishes to go dutch treat, that's okay with me. It is very importment to me to be treated like a lady as I would treat the man I am with like a gentleman, and get to know him, and if down the road we decide we want more then it will be a decesion we both make.

I know a man who is over 400 pounds. I had not seen him in 2 years. When he rolled into town I met him for dinner. He quickly noticed the 30 pounds I had gained. Had he lost any weight himself? Hell no!! But he was all over me about the 30 pounds I gained. Oh, he was more than willing to still want sex with me. Like I would after that comment! It never bothered me that he is so large. But, he is now off my list of suitable men.
One of the things I look for in a man is moral charactor. I want to know if he knows what faithfulness is. I want to know if he can be honest with me. I like a man who can laugh, joke, have a conversation that has nothing to do with sports, hunting, and cars. I want to know if he believes in family. Oh, then I may look at what he looks like. I have a soft spot for the tall ones. Then again my youthful appearance gets me their attention. But what I like about these ones is that they are open minded.
They are not brain washed by todays mores that you MUST date someone in your age range. In mexico , I have friends that tell me they have met and married women much younger than they. The guys are in their 30's and 40's and they get girls is in ther 20's. Heck I have a physically fit uncle inhis 60's who is divorced and who has a 21 yiur old lover/girl freind. Inthe Philipines it is the same way.
