A New Understanding
Dreamt last night, of warm winds
Caressing and soothing the side of my face
Walking through the flourishing forest
In a far off, yet familiar, distant place
I could hear the chiming of the birds
Calling out to meet their mate
Ruffling and spreading their tail feathers
Nature’s dance of destiny and fate
I could smell the moister of the moss
Blanketing the emerald woodland floor
Peace overcame me in this escape
A destination, without sickness or war
I could feel the mist off the river nearby
Which the Zephyr carried directly to me
There was a new sense of understanding life
In everything I could see
I woke up refreshed and clear minded
My spirit was renewed by the dream quest
It awoke and reminded me
Of how truly I am blessed………

but, I smoked one and decided to write here instead
I only have about ten minutes
so I thought I'd write about biscuits
I haven't even made them yet
needed a biscuit recipe and asked "the brown baker" for some baking powder magic
(bet he giggles if you poke him in the stomach)
I sure as hell giggled when I tasted his cookie recipe
decadent...I baked a lemon cake just to make more icing
redneck thing
or something
ha!
crap..that took 12 minutes..
something is gonna be 2 minutes raw
I'll tell you later about the biscuits
I've still got to let the flour thaw

Melting
Each day I watch
The inches of snow melt away
The trees are budding out
More mud each day
Shades of green
Breaking through the sod fields
New found streams in every ditch

The birth of spring is near
But Mother Nature holds the cards

it falls off in a kind of bally string
greenish yellow dust covers everything
only a good downpour keeps it from falling
and all of the trees have that fresh green leaf glow
the weeds are thriving, but the grass is still slow
that same downpour will make it grow
then I'll be writing about pushing the mower
I thought my giant rubber tree got killed in the freeze
I cut it back to an eight foot stump without any leaves
you can butcher the fvck out of them without fear of killing
(I studied up..did you know these things can get up to two hundred feet?)
it already has about a thousand red branches breaking free
never did get around to planting the seeds for the garden
now I think I'll just set some plants in
just go down to the flea market for Vidalia onions
and fresh tomatoes straight out of Ruskin
the corn should be in from Homestead
small sweet yellow and white ears that you butter on bread
it's as good as it gets
the kids eat it raw if you let them
(hungry yet?)
you won't be able to drive a mile through the country
without seeing a sign that says "pick your own peas"
I know that blackeyed's are a southern thing
but, darlin..you gotta try these
the farmers sell their stuff for nearly nothin'
down here in central florida people are hurtin'
and store brand juice is up to $4.59 a gallon
I've learned to live like the migrant mexicans
you don't waste a thing and know where to shop
don't ask "why so cheap? is it hot?"
do ask "would you take less? I've only got a ten spot"
that's when you find out if they're serious about selling or not
gotta do that just to survive nowdays
save up money to buy gasoline
which is going in the truck and the boat monday or tuesday
just rubbin it in, darlin...yeah, I know I'm mean

cajun got a new rod in his easter basket
open faced reel and the pole's telescopic
he's been sittin on the boat practicin
gotta love it
so far I've cut out a dozen crow's nests
thank god he's tired of castin
now he's huntin butterflies with the dipnet
he's all excited 'cause I told him next time we go fishin I'd let him use a hook
lol
yanno..
I've been having him practice casting with a harmless cork
I'd like to take him fishin for snook
but, I don't wanna put the aluminum boat in salt
Kinda anal, I know
gonna get over that, though
that's why I bought this big deck boat
it's even got a poddy so the girls can go
that's always good for a laugh
it's either that, or over the side with an ass
hahaha...girls are funny about that
don't wanna accidently pee on a bass

shyness overtaken by nature
about then I make a joke about hearing them tinkle

I just pulled a lemon pie out of the oven
I went simple

ham and a couple boxes of scalloped potatoes
a few fresh ears of corn and sliced cukes with herbed tomatoes
that's about it
well, and a loaf of bread made by jesus
cajun said something earlier about liking gold
and I made a crack about him studying judism
nobody got it
I chuckled though
the bigot in me
sometimes I'm the only one who thinks I'm funny
'cept your hubby
ain't he an irish catholic?
..and a black one at that
the kids go back to school here, tomorrow
spring break is the first week of april
that should go over well
they're doing that stupid testing down here
see if a kid can multiply after chewing the head off of a chocolate rabbit
I just can't wait to find out the statistics
apparently politicians have never been parents..

Well the first 3 days of Spring
And it snowed everyday
I got fishing fever
And it isn’t going to work this way
So today we have some warmth
It’s 40 degrees outside
But the rain is on the way
It’s a fricken rollercoaster ride
We got people fallen through the ice
How much dumber do ya gotta be
To view the puddles on the top
And know the future you’ll see
So here I sit and whistle
Washing the salt off my car
Vacuuming the sanded floors
That was dragged in off the tar
Wiping the finger prints off the windows
And the candy wrapper off the seat
Thinking of new things to do
While I wait for the heat……

Took a screwdriver to get in
With heavy snow on top
Took me two hours to win
Finally got it started
As the temps are rising
And as I watch it melt away
The weather here is always surprising
By Thursday,
It’ll all be gone
Back up to the 50’s

to cut all the corners so the carpet looked factory.
Aluminum..
had to glue everything down.
wrapped around
then inside too
upon attempting the first one I knew I was screwed
I should have just dyed the special marine carpet
it's thinner so it's easy to work with
my ass
I was thinking of using the boat to pot plants
it took for fricking ever
but by the ninth one I got clever
because to start with I had no patterns
once you jerked the old stuff off it fell apart
stencil the lid on the expensive carpet with a marker
guess and say fvck it!
I had just as good of luck
then I went to the auction and blew 1500 on the boat
just glad to not have to look at it anymore
fvcking eyesore
