It brought up a lot of reasons I had forgotten, such as the partner is away in the navy at sea for six months at a time. This can be true to many men who have to work away from home either in the field, at sea, or on location.
Really great explanations women, I know I re-learned a lot about the depth of women.
So often we men carry around these rather flat judgements on celibacy and women, and we men forget the true range and depth of women with regards to sexuality, emotions, commitment, children and family.
You all have definitely reaffirmed my faith in real women beyond Hollywood. They are out there, we just have to look, ask and talk to them.

Posted: 10/13/2006 8:15:46 PM | I went two years after the birth of my child. I had broke up with her father because he was a cheater. I was very hurt . He was my only experience with a man, so it turned me off men in general. I concentrated on being the best mom I could be. Unfortunately never learnt to satisfy myself till much later in life.
I became celibate again when I fell in love with a male friend of mine that travelled. We saw each other for 4 years on and off. I went 1&1/2 yrs. again without sex because I waited for him to return from Europe. I could not imagine being with anyone else because I follow my heart. I leant to satisfy myself. I went 1&1/2 after my friend and I stopped seeing one another.
I fell love for the third time with a wonderful man that had a horrible drinking problem. It slowly took over every reason why I loved him and he became a stranger. When it was over, it hurt probably the worst. I did not want to be with anyone till my heart healed. I was celibate for 10&1/2 months after that.
Sex is much better with someone you know and love. | |

2. Sex comes with intimacy and emotion. If I'm not in a relationship, as much as I enjoy it, I don't do IT with a stranger just to relieve a physical need.
3. Stay busy and active with friends, family and community, and be true to yourself. If the urge arises...I'm a grown-up, I know how to take care of myself.
The risk of AIDS, herpes, and other STDs is not worth any one night stand. | |

A woman is physically able to remain celibate indefinately. She many not like it, and she may be REALLY IRRITABLE, but it is possible.
I have been celibate for almost 9 months now. Why? The relationship I was in ended. Should have never happened in the first place. To many times we are in such a rush...we miss seeing those clues that would tell us we would be better off as just good friends. I am afraid of STDs, and getting pregnant. So until the time comes when I am in a relationship I feel secure in....I will wait.
I am not saying that it would not be nice to be with someone else. Hell....we all know that would be a lie. But as for me, until I meet someone very special, I will be satisfied with toys. No worries about disease or birth control that way. | |

I had been through a rough time with men in general and really didn't feel strong enough emotionally to put myself back out there. After a while, not having sex was no big issue...it only becomes an issue for me if I have it and then I don't....takes some time to learn to live without it again. How do I deal with sexual urges when celibate? Masturbation with my battery operated buddy when I have to feed the urge until the urges die away. | |
