| How's your Health? Posted: 9/6/2006 3:40:46 PM | I am incredibly healthy .. but then "they" do say .. blueberries are the healthiest food ... lol .. seriously though .. i'm 50 and more fit than i was in my 20's! .. i've had a check up and my heart and lungs are excellent .. sure i have a few "past life" scars .. had a couple surgeries .. survived cancer in my 20's .. but .. ALL of my health issues are History .. i have a feeling i just might be the one to hit that century and pass it! .. as long as i don't need to wear a mask when i take a hike!
i walk at least a mile a day .. sometimes i take more than one hike .. and i drink a lot of water .. mostly warm water actually .. it is better for you .. and i mean Just water!! .. i have my 2 coffees in the a.m. then its h2o .. mmmm .. i am also lucky because i do like foods that are good for me ... always have .. .. I've never been on a diet .. never worried about my weight so it never became an issue .. i'm pretty lucky .. i've beaten death 4 times .. stubbed my toe last year and broke it!!! lmao .. and yes .. i do think thats lucky!
best of health and happiness to all vixen

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/6/2006 3:58:41 PM | I am pretty healthy for a man of 60, so I guess I've got good genes. Both my parents made it into their 80's so I have a good shot at living another 20 years.
I do have bad hearing, I played in a rock band with a very loud guitarist and it eventually took its toll (sneaked up on me actually). I've been through the whole thing with hearing aids, to put it bluntly, they don't work very well at all. (Some day I'll get on a rant about why does a piece of electronics that could be made in Taiwan for $10 cost over $1,500 here). I do wear eyeglasses and have ever since I was 15.
Also I do have a hormone imbalance that is fixed by taking a drug called cabergoline, and I have a mild case of GERD, which I mostly have dealt with by changes in diet, iced herb tea instead of diet coke, for example.
I usually walk every day, a circuit of my neighborhood that is about a mile long. Take senior multis, 1500mg of CaMgZn, Co-Q10, ginko, and loratadine for allergies.
So there you have it, full disclosure. My inbox awaits.

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/6/2006 4:57:15 PM | Overall, I've never felt better -- however, 5 years ago was an entirely different story. Had thyroid cancer, complete removal and with that they got a nerve to a vocal cord and two of the four of the critical smaller glands called parathyroid. Those regulate the calicum in your body. I made light of that early on and refer to myself in one of my email screen names as One Cord Mama or OC for short. (lol)
Anyway, I'm doing great, scans keep coming back clear and aside from a jolt now and then of a metabolism glich, I'm loving life. I know I was very lucky and that episode 5 years ago has made me appreciate my life, my family, and my friends more than I ever did and probably why, even on POF, I don't care if I meet "the one" or not -- I'm just enjoying the journey.

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/6/2006 5:16:30 PM | | So far, so good. Have not had any major health problems ever, either physical or mental. The only things I take on a regular basis are Omega-3 capsules and multi-vitamins. The only thing missing from the original parts are my tonsils (which were removed when I was 20). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I stay healthy for many years to come. My parents both lived into their mid-80s and were functional up until about the last year before they passed away and no one in my family has a problem with weight. So, I have great genetics too. I feel so lucky to be so blessed, especially when I see other people who suffer terribly with health problems. Three of my sisters have had breast cancer, but it was caught early and they are fine now, with no other health problems. I am at risk for breast cancer because of my sisters, so I make sure to get my mammogram every year and a pelvic ultrasound every three years. | |

Changed my diet bt I occasionally still cheat (pizza, hoagies. Hey, I live in Philadelphia. What am I gonna do?). Other than that, so far so good. My bloodwork comes back looking good and my blood pressure and cholesterol are excellent.

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/7/2006 6:34:25 PM | | Well, I have experienced a lot in my lifetime. I feel good an I know I am in reasonably good shape.I don't look as good as I once did, and I am nowhere near as strong. I have had major surgery, and recovered from it.I know I am fortunate to have my health. Its my mental health that I sometimes question LOL | |

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/8/2006 2:30:53 AM | Apart from the ongoing effects of major injury, visually disabled due to head trauma and recurrent eye problems (Chronic Iritis and Photophobia) due to my refusal to let them remove my left eye. My doc tells me I am in better physical shape than most of the 25-35yo women she sees.
I am very active, being as I am not allowed to drive, I walk everywhere locally (eg within 5 miles). Can run up the 4 flights of stairs to my apartment and do several times a day, one of the joys of having a dog and no yard Walk my Labrador for miles daily, in all weather.
I would say I am in far better health now then I was in my 30's, I am certianly more active and since coming off HRT (menopause started in my late 30's) I have loads more energy and am mentally sharper too

| How's your Health? Posted: 9/8/2006 3:40:50 AM | I died on July 20, 1998. It was my mom’s birth day - that was one heck of a birthday present for her.
I woke up 13 days later with the burn marks on my chest. I was told I had a heart attack - but I never did buy that cause. I had and have no heart damage - no heart problems at all - don’t even have high blood pressure. Just recently I finally formed my own opinion. I think hypoglycemia killed me.
I had been working so much - like 30 hours at the computer - up to bed for 1 hour back at the computer for 24 hours - to bed for two hours and so on for months. I was missing meals like crazy. My body ran out of sugar I passed out and died. No I don’t have diabetes - hypoglycemia (in my case) is caused by not eating and the fact that I burn up energy like crazy. Our brain runs on sugar - no sugar we pass out - if no one is around you die.
The thing is - I work from a home office and no one was home during the day. That day I happened to be out looking at a motor home - started feeling bad - went in the men’s room to splash water on my face and croaked. If it had of been any other day - no one would have found me in time. I went and bought that motor home the day after I got out of the hospital. Being out looking at it is/was the only reason I am here now.
Later the sales guy noticed my car was still there and went looking for me - found me called 911.
These days I have some nerve damage in my feet that bugs me sometimes - but that is about it. Trying to run down the cause of that has caused all kinds of blood test and everything is in line - even my cholesterol is in good shape.
No one knows how long I was dead - and NOPE there are no bright lights - no floating above no nothing - when you are dead you are dead.

Me? Nothing too serious GERD mostly and that is so controllable and I need to keep an eye on my blood pressure. God bless all of you and an extra little prayer for kid :-( hang in there
