UH OH, methinks they did the decaf switcheroo to rbisme a couple of days early.

A few years back my kids pranked my ex by dumping his cola and refilling the bottle with black coffee. I could barely watch when he mixed his rye and 'coke' that evening!!

The Lake Champlain monster is Chessie. I didn't hear that one, how perfect. The best pranks are ones where no one gets hurt.

One year one of my sons set his dad and I up for a week before April first. He was in college for graphic design and animation. He said someone from Industrial Light and Magic was going to visit his class. (ILM is George Lucas' company). So, we wrote back about that being exciting. The next day, he wrote again that his teacher had shown the guy from ILM some of our son's work and the guy was impressed and wanted to meet him at lunch. Again, great, wonderful, exciting.

The next email, which was on April 1st, said that they had met and the guy had talked to him about hiring him. But, he wanted our son to start as soon as the school year was finished. (He was a sophomore at the time.)

Of course, his dad and I had no doubt about our son's abilities, we knew he had talent. And we discussed the pros and cons about leaving school vs. this incredible opportunity.

Later that day, we got the April Fool email.

We were flabbergasted. We could NOT believe he had gotten us so thoroughly!!! The good news is that he now works for Bungie (Halo computer games).

There have been others from both of my sons that are almost as involved and just as believable.

I am just a bit concerned about an April Fool worm that is supposed to surface. I have lots of barriers and protection, but that hasn't prevented other worms from invading my computer. It is always such a hassle.

Pazoozoo,

You're probably talking about the Conficker worm - it comes in two varieties - A and B.

If you're using Windows XP or above, you can go to Microsoft and download their Malicious Software Removal Tool for free. It gets rid of Conficker and other junk.
Once there, do a search for KB890830 and it should take you right to the current version of MALSRT.

It's better to have it on your machine BEFORE you get infected because Conficker edits your ability to get to the most common antivirus sites as well as Microsoft.
If you have the tool on your machine already, you can simply run it to get rid of Conficker. If not, then you may be stuck.

I'm pretty sure one of my instructors got infected with it, then she uploaded files that were downloaded by students. That computer that I downloaded files to is still in "stasis" until further notice. Had to go get a new used one to replace it.

Trust me, it's no prank to get.

No! The Chesapeake Bay creature is Chessie! The Lake Champlain monster is Champy!

My kids look forward to April Fool's Day. I've gotten them with the kitchen sink sprayer a couple of times, including this morning. Also messing with the toothpaste, but this morning it didn't trick them, I guess I need to give up on that one.

I think I will be making habanero "chocolate chip" cookies for dessert tonight.

A local newspaper always comes up with the best April Fool's pranks. One year, they wrote about a historic bridge being demolished in the city. Another year, they were going to install a huge tarp over an entire park for an annual festival that almost always has rain.

Today's prank was probably one of the best they have come up with yet...putting a bylaw in place to ban drive-thru restaurants. City councilors, the chief of police and owners of local drive-thrus were all in on the prank and gave great quotes. The article used statistics...but never cited their source, except to say it was from an 'official study'.

And, the article went on to say the city's next step is to promote tele-commuting by subsidizing web-cam purchases to encourage residents to work from home.

On the paper's website were several comments..if only they had read the last paragraph:

If you’ve been feeling a bit hot-under-the-collar wondering how you’ll cope without drive-thrus there is no need to worry. It is April 1 and this is an April Fool’s joke.

I tried pulling a fast one on my daughter, but she did not buy into it. I yelled through her bedroom door to get up. We were being evacuated for a gas leak in the neighborhood. All she did was yell back, "that's messed up!"

"Hurry up, Carmen. We have to get out of here!!"

I wasn't going to tell her she could go back to bed until I had her outside and wide awake, but she wouldn't fall for it...Dang, she was no fun at all!!!

Put a sheet of wood over most of someones door frame , fill with cement , remove wood.

Disassemble someones car and reassemble it in their living room.

Without going into too much detail...Four words: saran wrap , toilet seat (for the less adventurous: superglue , toilet seat.)

Change languages on other peoples electronics.

Start a cult.

Fake sasquatch encounters.

I could go on and on...
