| Instructions..manuals Posted: 4/30/2008 6:28:46 AM | Just wanted to pop in to say 'Hi' I'm new to posting and never been interested in doing so in the past. But reading through some of the forum topics, I feel i could post some very relevant answers and possibly have the odd obscure question!! I have experience in most avenues, and no regrets.

| Introductions..Manuals Posted: 5/8/2008 8:56:09 AM | Hi everyone!
My name is Gary. I am 55 yrs young & a resident of Fairfield, Ohio ... a very small little Midwestern town in the United States. I've been divorced for a little less than 4 yrs after a 30 yr marriage. I've been a member of POF since October of 2006.
Last year my son Jason graduated from college & spent one semester as a foreign exchange student in England. He attended EdgeHill College in Ormskirk ... just outside of Liverpool. Since graduation he attended a local police academy & is now employed as a city police officer in a nearby large city.
I visited my son in England during his last year of college & fell in love with the country & it's people. He met me in Manchester & took me back to his campus where I was permitted to stay with him during a school break. We took in all the local Liverpool sites, which was great for me since I haves always been a big Fab 4 fan. We also spent several days in London taking in all the sights & I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!
My son (an athlete since he could walk) fell in love with a new game during his staying England ... rugby. He ended up playing for both his school team & the local Liverpool St Helens club team where his wonderful teammates & their families adopted him for his entire stay in the country. One of the highlights of my trip was getting to see him play in a rugby game & then attending the family reception in the clubhouse after the game. His teammates & their families made him feel like he was a part of their family & I was so very happy for that.
I would love to correspond with some people (preferably ladies) from England via e-mail, which is my main reason for posting to this forum. I am a regular contributor to my local forums but like I said would love to make some new friends who reside in England. I promised myself that I would return for a visit to England one day ... my one hope is that I won't have to make that trip alone! I think London is probably the most romantic place I have ever visited!
So, if you are interested in trading emails … pleas contact me!
Thanks, Gary | |

| Introductions..Manuals Posted: 5/24/2008 3:24:38 AM | Hi all. I know I can't stay because of the rules... but the Aussie forum has its share of o/s posters so was kinda hoping nobody here would mind the occasional visit from a colonial. (I did live amongst you for a year when I was in my 20's if that counts??) If I could I would claim dual citizenship, because your forums are such an interesting read. It's that fantastic Brit way of expressing yourselves and your own brand of humour...the place has a great feel about it.
I know that at some point Australia will probably break ties.... the republicans are getting more vocal with each passing year. But to be honest I suspect many of them have actually confused it with the notion of becoming publicans. After all, who doesn't want to own a pub.
|
| Introductions..Manuals Posted: 5/25/2008 10:13:14 PM | Hi Naamah
I hope you dont mind but I grabbed on to your coat tails as you went a visiting....as I too came over for a sticky....our forums in Australia are great but because of the smaller population and hence smaller amount of people on POF we dont tend to get as many posters with much diversity....or maybe we are just dull ? at times we are resurrecting old threads or sometimes it appears we are a little bit out of touch with the rest of the world, so we need to get our intellectual stimulation from somewhere
I was born in the States but grew up in Australia but lived in the UK for 12 years so maybe like Naamah we can claim dual citizenship...???? we just come to see how other forums are conducted and where everyones head is at...so hopefully Naamah and Pookie can drop in every so often..if no one minds too much....Naamah I think you hit the nail on the head about the "publicans"
