It's not as much a job as a lifestyle choice, you know?
You're right! There are some occupations that can't be left at the office. They kind of define the person in that occupation and have certain social responsibilities connected to the profession.

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 6/22/2007 4:38:46 PM | Cops and firefighters are very naughty, naughty boys - they need to be spanked!!
cops and fireman are kinda the respectable version of the cliché bad boys, aren't they? all the excitement of the bad boy but you can also bring them home to meet the folks. and i guess the same for the male fantasy...the good girl is kinda bad when you realize she can kick your ass faster than you can blink (and you probably deserved it anyway so you can't get mad at her!)
to answer the question--yep.

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 6/23/2007 8:17:07 AM | My parents were cops and they managed to raise a family and keep their careers going strong.
I would date a cop as long as he is willing to remember to leave his work at the door and not take his crap out on me. Unfortunately a lot of cops have trouble separating work and home and the after effects usually tend to ruin the family unit.
A lot of indiscretion also comes into play, but this is not to discourage you it's just so you know that as much as you are a part of her life, her job might take prescedent from time to time.
If you are able to have a relationship based on her schedule and respect that she will need to be out all night some nights (this is based on the date progressing) then I say good for you.
Take it one day at a time and just stay away from some cliche cop jokes etc.

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 6/23/2007 11:43:16 AM | Hell No I wouldn't date a female cop.
Women with guns and handcuffs make me as nervous as hell.
Top it off with the sugar rush, from all those donuts and coffees, um no way, far too much energy to wear off !

|
| Would you date a cop? Posted: 6/24/2007 7:33:32 AM | I was married to a cop. Thought I loved him, turned out it was the cuffs I loved...so I divorced him and bought my own
Seriously though, it all depends on the person. If I truly liked the person, it doesnt matter what his job is.

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 6/24/2007 9:20:31 AM | Shoot I used to wear 2 uniforms.
I served with the Canadian Forces, so in a way, I was a cop !
Then I was a volunteer medic, with St. John Ambulance.
Now all I wear is a "uniform" that looks like a cops uniform, in my Star Trek/Sci-fi fan club. And yes sometimes I do volunteer "Law Enforcement" at Sci-fi and Fandom Conventions. Sadly with no handcuffs !!!

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 9/10/2007 10:37:03 AM | This thread has made me laugh so hard!
So...would I date a cop?? In a heartbeat. My reasons...my father was one...twice over...military and civilian...I am also retired law enforcement so I know what goes on...my uncle was one...it is an honourable profession IMHO...and...they have the cutest tightest lil butts in all creation when they are in shape! *cheeky grins*
It's not the uniforms, or the cuffs, or or or...he/she is a person first and foremost...if they appeal to you...they appeal to you...if you fall in love with each other...even better...it's the person, not the job!!
As Always,

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 9/10/2007 11:55:57 AM | While I'm not closed minded over it, my concern would be how he would react if I did even the slightest little illegal thing. ie. I have a tendency to jaywalk a lot. Also, I have a friend who smokes marijuana (for medical reasons, she has MS but she doesn't have official permission for it) so I think it would put him in a very awkward position. Gotta admit though that those handcuffs are mighty tempting. | |

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 9/10/2007 1:09:16 PM | | Another girl answer for you. Why not date a cop? You could do worse. I come from a family of them (grandfather, father, brother) and have been friends with some. Don't prejudge by her profession - unless you've got something to hide. | |

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 9/10/2007 9:01:54 PM | I dated a cop quite a while ago and work with a cop in one of my musical projects. They're a whole lot 'kewler' about things than most people give them credit for ... in my opinion.

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 9/11/2007 7:35:20 AM | | My wife would be very very upset if I dated a cop... or anyone else. But they're cool to hang out with. Cops are people...good and bad... just like anyone else. | |

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 9/11/2007 9:34:19 AM | | bring em on.......of course I would, now if only someone would send one my way | |
|
| Would you date a cop? Posted: 9/11/2007 2:00:01 PM | | I would date a cop. I know they would understand shift work and week-end work which I have to do as well. Two of my co-workers are married to cops and it's no different than being married to anyone else except the shift work and their jobs are more risky. | |

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 12/30/2007 6:13:12 PM | don't go overboard here, there is a lot of people in the 911 profession none players the only problem might be because of the different hours and the close knit community of the 911 profession. I don't think a player is associated with a profession just with a mentality. I know a lot of 911 professionals me included, if you always play it safe you never live life | |

| Would you date a cop? Posted: 12/30/2007 8:03:47 PM | Maybe depending on the person.
I have reservations about even getting into a relationship with some one with a stressful job because of past experience. An X of mine dealt with abused children and became violent herself a few months after she started the position. That violence started suddenly too and didn't stop. There were no signs of it before. This was right around the time the Lorena Bobbit stuff was going on. I didn't sleep too well then!
