I really love pitbulls or staffies. I know that they have a very bad rep, and alot of people look at them with such disdain, but in my own personal dealings with those dogs, they have been some of the sweetest, most loving of dogs.

I currently have a 5 year old yellow lab/pitbull mix, and she is the best dog. She is alot of fun. She has boundless energy and she is the most loyal, protective dog that I have ever had. She's a great trail/hiking dog as well!

German Shepherds were one of my favorite dogs as a kid. They are very beautiful and majestic looking. The only thing I don't like about most German Shepherds is their tendency to have that sloping, curved backside. I know they have been bred to have that look for the most part, but to me, it gives them a look of being a little fragile and weak in the hindquarters. I know they tend to have alot of trouble with hip dysplasia as well.

American "Pit Bull" Terrier. One of the best dog friends I ever had was a sausage looking, shovel headed, galut, I called Spike. They can be pretty easy to get along with and train.

when i was a kid it was german shephards. if my picture is not clear of what is now my favorite kind of dog, the lap dog there is a rottie. he is the first dog to live with me as an adult and i do not think i can ever get another type of breed. "he's my special boy." he is perfect with children, not aggressive in any manner towards other dogs or animals or insects even (i have seen him catch flys in his mouth and let them go, so i truly have a rottie that will not hurt a fly), completely obedient and was formerly a therapy dog. he would go to nursing homes and elementary schools for visits. as he has aged i no longer have him do those things. he's just a regular lazy boy now, i think he learned that from me.

I grew up in a family that was all about hunting. So all we ever had was retrievers. In high school I had friends with Rotts and Pits that were all good dogs. Than one day my mom decides to help some family and brings home this damn border collie. My first reaction was "WTF is that????" Three weeks later the dog and I cant get enough of each other and to this day he still blows my mind away with his intelligence and learning abilities. I swear, I could teach him to speak english if he knew that both our lives depended on it! Border Collie FTMFW!!!!!!!!

I agree canuck-shih tzu's are the best!!!I am particular with my dogs, and i the past ive had big dogs,(rotts, labs, shepherds)But in my last marriage, my wife was given a shih tzu as a gift for her birthday.Immediately I told her "NO", as we would have to put a big deposit down and I personally didnt want any more responsibility other than her,nor did I have the time to train a pup, but the next day i had a lil shih tzu and from then to today , Boomer and I are bestest buds. I can actually understand him when he talks and (believe it or not) Boomer CAN spell....

So in answer to your question....Shih tzu...loyal / friendly and always gazing right back at you with love .... temperment and personality...omg they are human...lol

I have a little one named Chester. He's the cutest thing, and he's not hyper at all. He's always sleeping and has his tongue out. He has been dubbed snaggle tooth for his right fang tooth that sticks out all the time! He has a lady friend Lola Pug that comes by on the weekends. I'm sure your Pug is just as adorable.

I've had a lot of dogs throughout my life, but my favorite was one of my Goldens. She and I soooo bonded! I've had a collie, beagle, sheepdog, goldens, terrior, border collie. Suprisingly, my Goldens and even my terrior mix had way more personality than my tri-color border collie. He was obsessive/compulsive, but a good dog, nevertheless.

Next I really want a Pembroke Corgie and a Golden together. I think Corgies are so funny looking in a really cute way and my vet tells me they have the outgoing personality of a Golden, so I think a Corgie and Golden would be a fun combo together. So many kewl breeds and so little time. I'd love to have a Bernese Mountain Dog, Clumber Spaniel, Bearded Collie and so many more. Just not enough time to enjoy them all in one lifetime!!

I have had dog's all my life and many different breeds. Have found Males are the most fun (un-neutered), but Females are the most loving and aren't as cantankerous and adventuresome.

I currently own a seven year old male Shiba Inu, which is a Japanese breed. He's a hell of a good companion dog and litterly owns the house and rules the roost, so to speak. Discipline and obedience is certainly not the long suit of this breed.

This breed looks exactly like a Japanese Akita, except they are half the size of an Akita. We owned an Akita for years and loved her, but she was just too big of a dog to jump in your lap and try to sleep in bed with you.

The male Shiba Inu we have is big for his breed and weighs in at 38 lbs, which is just about the right size for us. He is Mr. Personality plus and litterly talks to us with yowls, grunts, snorts and yawns. But he is not a barker. The only time we can get a bark out of him, is when we try to ignore him, which he won't stand for.

I wouldn't recommend this breed for everyone, because as I said above, obedience is not their long suit. They have been compared to a "Cat" in their attitude and independent nature. But Lord we have come to love this dog and he has trained us well. ~

Has a wonderful coat of hair and beautiful brown eyes......
"They have been compared to a "Cat" in their attitude and independent nature".
I rush to see her as I have been well trained. I make a mean dinner for her.
The first meal a man has ever made for her,
she lavishes her affections on me for loving her unconditionaly.
She is my best friend.

My dog is a mix of shepard and chow. Smart, protective, gentle with family and kids, wonderful dog! (see my profile for a snapshot).... He's mostly jet-black, but he's going gray around the wiskers now though. Personality too: when I throw a ball and ask him if he wants to go get it, I can read his face, "why would I want to do that? ..you go get it", and he walks away. But I get even, I tell him that after he's done with his coat that I'm going to use it for a while....

I have always been owned by larger breeds of dogs. Huskies, New Founlands and one St. Bernard. My favorite was the Newfie he walked on the cinder block fence after being raied with cats. I was alway glad he never took off. He was a companion and roade just nicely in the seast of the little 924 I had thats the back seat with head poking out of the sunroof.

Malamutes. Although they're known for being pretty wimpy at the vet, I think their overall disposition is great, and I love the way they look.

AnthonyJ - my favorite dogs are German Shepards and you are right about their hips. The best thing to do when you purchase one is to look at their hips and don't settle for one that has a rear end that slopes. They are out there if you know where to look and be choosy about the dog you buy. It's also good to buy from a litter that has the sire and dame hip certified since hip dysplacia is pretty serious and often ends up in the premature demise of an otherwise wonderful dog.

I'm not a dog person, but I like German Shephards, they're so friendly. And I like Alaskan Huskies i think they're called? Because they are so beautiful. And any dog that looks like a wolf, for the same reason that they are beautiful.
