Posted: 4/8/2007 5:31:02 PM | Variance, I think you need analysis, perhaps you were in the Hyperbaric chamber too long or they cut off your oxygen when you were in there.
They can't trade Mats, he is a free agent unless the team exercises it's option on the last year of his contract. If they exercise their option they get him for 4.5 million but take a 5.5 million hit against the salary cap. If they wanted to trade Mats it was at the trade deadline.
Pogge had a poor season with the Marlies. He isn't ready for prime time. Raycroft is the goalie for at least another season. Maybe they pick up another goalie for a back up and they can fight over the #1 job but Raycroft is a 2.7 million salary cap liability for another 2 years. How can you get rid of a guy who had just a so-so season after a lousy season in Boston?
We CAN NOT TRADE MCABE. He has a NO TRADE, NO MOVEMENT contract he is here for another 4 years PERIOD.
Why keep Belak? They can pick up a goon for the league minimum why spend extra on a 4thy line winger who has no hockey sense or a #7 defenseman who can't defend just blows the coverage and goes to the penatly box.
It is too late for this team. The time to make changes was last summer. The decision to sign McCabe and give in to EVERYTHING he asked for was idiotic. They could have spent the money on Chara. Picture him on the blueline for 30 minutes a game. Somebody who makes the other team stop and think when he is on the ice.
Why re-sign Tucker. I love the guy but if he wants to be in Toronto so bad, trade him and in July give him the contract. They could have received a first round pick for Darcy.
We are stuck with a barely mediocre team for the forseeable future and will be just good enough to hang around the #19/20 overall position, too lousy to make the playoffs but not getting a really high draft pick.
The only thing I can agree with you about is that they should blow up this team now. | |

I am glad that the Leafs came out to play last night and proved that they werent out of gas by not giving up when the Habs took the lead! What a great way to end the season against rival Habs! Unless the Leafs move back to the western conference again we wont see them in the finals but it sure seemed like a game 7 last night!
Wow what a game today and I thought about flipping over to the Masters once the Isles went up 2-0 but I still had hope that the Devils would come back and they did with just a second to go in the 3rd! Brodeur in net may have been the difference today but no need for him as the Devils were already in. Clemenson though did play well for someone that doesnt get much playing time!
We should of beat the Islanders the other night when we got the chance if we did then we wouldnt have to worry about todays game.
Dubelivitz (or however you spell it) has done a great job as back up but I think the Sabres with Miller will have the edge in that series. So Im rooting for the Sabres there of course lol :)
We came so close today and it looks to be another exciting playoffs this year!
Some tough decisions need to be made this summer for the Leafs and perhaps slipping down in the standings may be worth it to allow for some bottom feeding and a chance to start building the team into a Stanley Cup winner. Dont think JFJ is the man that can do that.
I look forward to watching the Raptors in the playoffs and the Jays also are determind to get back in the playoffs again.

Posted: 4/10/2007 9:41:09 AM | The laffs are a product of corporate money..they dont care if they win as long as the tickets are sold..there would not even have been a race except for the Islanders fell on some bad luck and key injuries....they are the most overated team in the NHL..I say Good riddance to the bums....problem is the fans care about the team but the team dosent care about the fans......maybe in another 40 years they may almost make it again | |

I have to give the Leafs props, they were probably the best team in the AHL, too bad they play in the NHL. The only reason they made it as far as they did was because of the coach. You can't win with 1 top line forward and a couple of top 4 defensemen. | |
