the game is on now and we lead the Sens 2-1
This thread will be quiet I guess until the regular season starts lol but for anyone following the leafs now this is where you can post :)

We are definately gonna have a GREAT season this year. and from watching interviews with the new coach.......... he takes no ***SHIT*** from non of them............ if they need a good kick in the ASS he will definately give it...........

Posted: 9/24/2006 5:35:15 PM | well the leafs are looking for a goal to tie the game and are running out of time with under 4 minutes to go!
I give props to JFJ to hire Maurice as head coach as so far he has shown he desrves this role. After taking the Canes to the finals in '02 and from there the team got even better and won the cup as we all know.
He knows the leafs well especially the yongins being in the Marlie organization and will work them hard along with the rest of the team!
The rosteer may be trimmed down a bit more tomorrow so I really hope they will keep the youngins who have shown this preseason that they deserve to be a regular player!

Posted: 9/24/2006 9:49:31 PM | well for a team that played without the stars and playing against a team that was considered one of the better teams with thier roster .. i must say the kids held them up really good ...
they kinda slowed down a lil bit .. but hey .. they only youngins ...
i can't wait till next month to do some serious ass whoopin ...
they should be cutting the roster down to around 24-27 ... depending on how some of these youngins hold up and the injury bug plays it's role ..
Maurice let all the kids play tonight cuz he knew he was sending most of them down in the next few days ... but i expect White, Suglobov, Pohl, Newbury and Brown to be staying a lil longer just to name a few

In case you missed it the leafs have sent the following players down to the Marlies
(September 25, 2006) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs assigned nine players to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on Monday.
The following players were assigned to the Toronto Marlies:
D - Dominic D’Amour
D – Tyson Marsh
F – Kris Newbury
D – Jaime Sifers
F – Jeremy Williams
F – Robbie Earl
F – John Mitchell
G – Justin Pogge
F – Jiri Tlusty
Pogge of course has potention to be a star within the leafs organization in the future and lets hope the leafs will keep him in the blue and white. Jeremy Williams has also been impressive and would be a wise call up if the leafs need him this season.
puck drops between the Leafs and the Sens at the ACC in less than 30 minutes on Leafs TV so enjoy the game everyone and

Posted: 9/27/2006 10:16:25 PM | Ottawa may not be able to outbest the Leafs in the Playoffs, but hell, that is only Round 1, then it's the tougher teams, (and just think the Habs are included in this list). There are still dreamers (Leafs fans) and then there are the winners (everyone else).
Sorry Guys just couldn't resist. Not all of us are true Leaf Fans but will always be there when the time is right. Afterall a good thing doesn't come around that often. | |

Whats going to be good about the Detroit games this weekend is the line up will be closer to the one we will have on opening night.
Kaberle hasnt played yet, watch the impact his presence has, especially on the power play.

Remember this is just preseason and its not fair to write the team off after a loss! They came up short against the Red Wings last night! The wings will do well again this year and maybe in the post season as well lol.
Yes your right AS the line up they had last night is similar to what they will have on opening night Oct. 4th!
Looks like O"neil may make the team after all the specualtion about his future. I also think this is Antropovs last chance to show he can be on the leafs! If Maurice cant get him to improve I hope they let Antropov go!
Battaglia, Kubina and Peca have all been impressive so far as I see them to be key new leafs this coming season!
Game 2 against Detroit tonight at the ACC to finish off the preseason! I should be here for that if not enjoy the game!

Leaf TV might be a possibility to get maybe, but if anyone has a suggestion around here to go and party it up with other leafs fans, let me know.
As for their season, I think their defence is still to weak to contend, but who knows.

well fellow leaf fans, sens fans and hockey fans we are just under 4 hours away until the puck drops at the ACC between the Leafs and Sens! I dunno about you guys but i am pumped and anxious to get the season underway!!
The leafs will be without newly acquired Kubina for a one game suspension in the last game of the preseason and also I heard Antropov wont be in the line up due to injury.
I really hope the leafs can make the playoffs this year as if they get in anything can happen! Look what the Oilers accomplished last year  But it would suck to get that far and not win lol
The best thing to happen to this team is Paul Maurice and I am excited to see what he can do to improve this team. This is also Fergusons make or break year as there has been some major changes and we will see if it can improve the leafs!
I will be here later on to give you real time updates on the big tilt tonight!!

Posted: 10/4/2006 7:30:05 PM | well folks the leafs season has gotten off to a bad start as the Sens yet again beat us the first game of the season :( I remember the first game last year and I think the score difference was even greater than this years score so thats a good thing lol Nice goal by Sundin too woot woot!
The leafs have some work to do especially in 5 on 5 situations and Sundin and O'Neil have to produce for this team to be successful.
I am disappointed in the result as i know other leafs fans are but keep in mind everyone this is just the first game of the season and its too early to harshly criticize this team.
I usually wait 10 games before i can give an honest assesment of the teams strengths and weaknesses. If the leafs are 4-6 after 10 games then thats a concern for sure!
We got a tough couple games coming up the Sens again tomorrow and then the Habs on Saturday!
Even though we lost its great to have hockey back again :)
I wont be around till Tuesday but I will be watching the games up at the cottage so hope leaf fans and non fans will keep this thread going :)

Posted: 10/4/2006 7:42:04 PM | I watched part of the game tonight. I learned much as a fan of Detroit (was Leafs fan until Lanny and Daryl were no more) before Illitch bought the team and I see in Toronto what I saw in the bad years in Detroit.
They lack natural talent.
I'll do some bragging here, but years ago, I played hockey with many Junior a, AHL and NHL prospects during the summer months. I've learned a few things from these guys.
The number one problem with the leafs, is control. They do not control the puck in the offensive zone. Once they accomplish that, they may become a decent playoff team.
There is nothing more that I would like than to be a Leaf supporter, but they (Leafs organization) need to convince me it's worth the while. | |

Wow that must of been neat to play with some of the prospects out there and thats a good way to learn how the skill set of these young guys is different than a Sundin.
Perhaps Salming should come out a of retirment lol A very nice tribute to him, Red Kelly and Hap Day!

I see that Always Smiling is here as well with Sns & ERSunshine.
Now for the bad news: with the Leafs playing the Sens 4 times in the first 11 games they are in trouble already. They had the worst divisional record in the league last year mainly due to their record vs the Sens and Sabres (man don't they look spiffy in the new uni's!). With the Flames, Avs and Tampa in the mix the Buds will be in tough to start at .500.
This team will struggle to score once again but at least they wont get blown out by 5 goals too often.
Speaking of Goals against....defence and the like, what was Maurice thinking when he put Belak on defence, against a very good (fast) team like the Sens without ever giving him practice time as a D-man? At best Belak should have been an extra forward to take on McGratton if required not running around in his own end taking penalties because he wasn't ready to play that position.
How can you miss Tie? First he was more entertaining as a sound bite than on the ice and now he is on TSN so we can hear him all the time. Second he was an enforcer that didn't fight anymore in a game moving away from using fighting as a tool/weapon. But hey Belinda Stronach!!???? how would Tie have had a shot without being on the Leafs? | |
