i would consider myself a bit of a porker im 6 foot and about 16 stone and if i could i would live like that for the rest of my life but due to the nature of todays soicety i feel like i have to slim down and tone up in order to get anywhere ive been on a few dates with people from pof but none have gone terribly well but i dont think it was my size that put these people off i jus guess it was mutual incompatilbility and i think that if people had any sort of depth to them as people they would see passed the size of the persons dress/pants and look at the person as a whole ie tastes/personality/intelligence because i for one would rather date someone with these traits than a vapid shallow self obsessed women no matter how she looked.

You know what I think is so sexy?

A brainy BBW. I amthinking in my mind this tall girl with a chop top (shoulder length hair style) and who wears glasses (and a cleft chin..OH GOD (SIGH!!!)). A very knowledgable woman who can spend hours and hours in delightful witty conversation. Someone who has an eclectic taste in music. Knows quite a bit of everything. Someone who will drag me to the theatre , an art fair or a museum. And who wouldl loveto critique about it afterwards over some coffee.

A sexy woman can be someone with "dangerous curves" and a "dangerous mind".
Give me an atttractive geek girl/bookworm of a BBW any day.

Oh Dear mysticrogue - shame you are so far away from me then... because apart from the cleft chin I can fulfil all your fantasies I have plenty of "clefts" elsewhere tho!

On the subject in hand... I am most definitely BBW - 5'9' and at my heaviest have been 24 st... although am now hovering around the 18 st mark. However with one exception - I think I carry it reasonably well... guys dont tend to complain about my 44F or G cup and the exception I can cover with some careful dressing. I too put weight on due to illness and due to many operations on my tum have NO muscle tone or feeling there at all - so cant tone up what doesnt work!

I have certainly not had any problems getting dates in the past - and only joined POF because due to home commitments (I'm a full time carer of a disabled mum) I just cant get out to meet guys socially - but I do miss their company. Some of the guys I've met on here actually seem to prefer larger lasses although you always get your fair share of the ones who only want to see your t1ts!

For me I don't particularly care for overexcercised muscle men - especially as you know that when they get older they're gonna just turn to flab anyway so why bother with all that preening now??? I'd rather have someone that is well proportioned and healthy and if that means a few extra pounds then so be it - we can have fun excercising it off together MUCH more important to me is someone prepared to take me as I am - and who expects me to do the same to them.

(love the comment by pantsonfire re the hammer and the 9 inch nail tho )

You know the thing about being a big guy is that no matter what you do right or wrong people will be either be your friend or they wont. If someone has trouble accepting you then the issue is theirs. They could cause you agro but thats their issue. I am BIG! Someone might be taller than me, might be fatter than me but no-one is bigger than me. If you have met someone and they cant accept you for who you are should you be with them? More to the point should you let them be with you?

Can I just point out that the same applies to all people, regardless of size?

ok...well...i signed up to a bbw site ages ago. But one of my friends who is a bbw too, she told me i was too small to be a bbw, and that i shouldnt be on the site i was on. I'm not exactly tiny, yet im not classed in the section of a bbw either! So where do i fit lmao NOWHERE obviously lol
I can honestly say i'm not the perfect model figured person, but it's never bothered people who i've dated or had a relationship with. I think it boils down to confidence! That seems to be more attractive!
In respect, i have to say i like a guy with meat on them. Broad shoulders, taller than me (im 5ft 8). There's just something about being with a bloke who's bigger than yourself, that makes u feel protected and safe, not to mention bloody nice to cuddle up too

I have this problem too. I've been told I'm not a BBW nor am I skinny but I don't count myself as average at a size 16/18.

Maybe we should start a 'just over average but with a nice chest' site! hehehehehhe

I'm 5ft 5 and I love men over 6ft (neanderthal thinking here, I feel safe and he's all manly) and I don't like them skinny. However, I do love an intelligent man and personality counts for everything.

I've only had one man say he wouldn't date me because of my size and he was a "modelizer" (size 10 and below) to coin a Sex in the City Phrase. His loss is what I say. A genuine man willgo for whats inside..........not how many rolls of fat you carry!

i don't think that size comes into it. i'd class myself as a bam/big average man.

don't think i'd go for a really skinny lady as i like them to have some meat on their bones.

as i'm still looking on here i'm guessing that the ladies out there are just looking for more average guts then me

I still think it's crazy that this comes up for conversation.

It's all down to people's preference. If you don't like larger ladies, don't date them! You don't sit and whinge and slag their size off! I have just fallen out with my best friend (known her since she was 6) as she is constantly being a **** over people's size! It infuriates me. I used to be a size 8 (and looked anorexic) and I would never have slagged anyone off or put them down for their weight. It's just a childish and mean thing to do. Just as I wouldn't put people down for being short, tall, thin etc etc.

Everyone has their own ideas of what is right for them - but people who don't fall into that catagory shouldn't be put down because of it!

I think larger women do have more problems when it comes to dating. I've just had it admitted to me in an e-mail that men love the idea of a voluptuous woman, just don't like being seen walking hand in hand with them. Well more fool them! I am a size 18/20 and I still have a figure, I still have a waist and I can still look good and there are alot of men out there who agree with this!

i haven't really had any problems getting a date, and nobody has ever insulted me for size. Well not to my face anyway (let's face it a lot of people are cowards when speaking the truth). I used to be a size 10/12 before kids. The level of attention has been the same regardless of what size i am. Which i think kind of proves its down to personality in some respect. I think it tends to be other factors that stop something working though, because why would someone date u or have a relationship with u for a while, if they didnt find u attractive - not just physically either.
I've been out with men who have been slim, it's been their personalites that have knocked me out really. The problem seems to have been changing personalities after a few weeks/months. But, predominantly i got for blokes who have meat on them. What u see is what u get with me! I'm open, i have an opinion (like everyone else does), sometimes i don't like what people write, and they don't like what i write, such is life. But, in the end this whole dating scene is a minefield lol
If someone ever didnt want to get with someone because of their size just move on and shout NEXT!!

reading back to Denny's comment about over muscly blokes. I do happen to agree that men who pump iron - like body builders, i don't find attractive. Simply toned people, who care about their body and work out is another thing. But, i prefer to lay on a mans chest that is comfy rather than hard and uncomfortable

I dont class myself as a bbw but im not small either i got lots of lumps, bumps and curves, personally i like biggish guys i tend to be attracted to them more but not all that fussed with size, and i always think bigger women look better than stick thin women and theres so many pretty big women.

I think it's important to remember that there is a difference between BBW/BHM's and obese people.
We humans are programmed to 'fancy' potental breeding partners.
A 'larger' person is fine, but when 'larger' becomes 'obese' it is likely that less people will find them attractive because of the health risks associated with obesity.
If one is obese one is more prone to:
heart disease
stroke
osteoarthritis
high blood pressure
infertility
gallstone
depression
polycystic ovaries
and cancer of the breat/colon/kidneys/stomach.
(any much much more)

People talk about 'fit' men and women.
Fit can mean in good health. It can mean suitable. It can mean 'fanciable'.
Perhaps the first two definitions equal the last?

Incidentally, to see if you BBW & BHM's are actually obese, here's the way you work it out:
Work out your own BMI using this calculation:
1. Measure your height in metres and multiply the number by itself.
2. Measure your weight in kilograms.
3. Divide your weight by the answer you got in step 1. The number you are left with is your BMI.
An ideal BMI for most people is between 20 and 25.

That was an absolutely hilarious read...

Thanks SJS, I am not obese, seems I will die of something else then.

Edit: I agree with you there Dr. Acid, the fat threads are the funniest on here, it makes me laugh the way people try and justify their obesity and want to be accepted for the person beneath all those lbs and stones - the real them.... because inside is a beautiful person but just to lazy to get fit or something. I like chubby people by the way, I think they look quite attractive, you know cuddly.

I really like reading these fat threads. I often wonder how the less fortunate in society live, and it's nice to get an insight into the world of obesity and lardiness. Good stuff people. Keep it going.

I think my BMI is just over 25. So I suppose I too am officially a fat fooker. Well, according to the BBC website which I can't actually remember to hand. Never mind, it will come to me.

There is obese and then there is voluptuous.

Obese are tjose who are unhealthily too large. Usually belly heavy. Medically speaking they must take better care of themselves. I mean comeon, some ofthese poor things look like sumo wrestlers. that is no laughingmatter. That is dangerous. This body setting leads to diabetes and many other ailments...nuff said.

Then there are the voluptuous. These are the solid gals who carry their weight well.
Imagine Queen Latifah and Jennifer Lopez when she was a liitle heavier as an IN LIVING COLORS' Fly Girl. These are the hour glass shaped babes that Robert Crumb immortalized in his comics. Now these are the same gals that make my heart pound and my blood warm up and make my "soldier" stand straight up at attention (in lustful/loving respect).

I general I dig big girls and especiallythe tall big girls.
Oh heck, the girls with wide hips andthe BIG BUTT! <img src=http://www.plentyoffish.com/smiles/icon_201.gif border=0>
