My point is that NO WOMAN thinks she looks 'bad' doing ANYTHING that she 'thinks' all by herself as 'looking GOOD' !
You are entitled to your opinion, of course. If anyone "thinks" or "feels" good about how they look, that is justification enough for how they chose to wear their hair or dress, in my opinion.
I don't wear my hair long to look younger. I don't dress to try to look younger. I just happen to enjoy the style and comfort of the clothes that are currently popular. Styles keep improving as the years go by; people want comfort as well as style; this is improvement over the old days when so much emphasis was put on "appearance". I think a reasonable amount of modesty is important for any age. How you dress or wear your hair, is a matter of individual choice, in my opinion. This goes for men and women. I don't see very many men or women dressing as we did years ago. Thank goodness.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/23/2007 2:04:40 PM | I personally wear my hair long for myself and it only takes me about 10 minutes to dry as it is curly and locks tend to look fried if I dry it too hard. I've been told I look much younger with my longer hair and more fun soooo......whatever floats anyone's boat is what they should do for themselves, not someone else.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/23/2007 3:13:10 PM | I for one love my short and sexy hair cut...I found it easy when riding with top off (car) and I dont look wind blown. Aslo takes me 15 min. from shower to out the door....Easy for my man to kiss my neck from behind also .... I didnt do it because of my age, but do think at a certian age women shouldn't try and look like a 20 something. But lets be real, men like long hair on women...why????? | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/23/2007 3:23:42 PM | debb1110 I thought that was you grabbing that groovey maxi skirt I have Mennonite relatives that wear long dresses and don't cut their hair...you know they never worry about style. They always look clean and neat. I just think it is really funny that a paranoid man comments on this. It is pretty obvious that some men think that they are the fashion police and yet they haven't a clue even about computers and safety. Even a man familiar with men's fashions isn't necessarily familiar with what is in style for women. I know that if my 11 year old wears something that I own or if I wear something she own's, they do not look the same. I really haven't located any age coding on any adult clothing or any magazines that state that this is the hair style for this age group or that age group. And I really have appreciated emails from people saying they like my hair. Thank you! I really think that, man or woman, it is up to the person and their choice for their hairstyle. Someone that doesn't post a picture is hiding probably because of a horrible hair cut. I have found few jobs where you can not be on a dating site and very few jobs that dictate hair length, pony tails work on men too. (I know not everyone here wants to date, but someone that hides their picture, age, and all information seems to be here to ridicule others.) | |

Weren't you posting on this forum before under a different name? Stating your "opinions" on this subject (long hair) and various other subjects (clothing and piercings) as being wrong of older women? Weren't you informed then of how wrong it is falsifying your age and claiming to want to date? OR am I mistaken..hmmmmm. Seems to me you like coming onto this post in the forum just to intimidate women and create havoc amongst us on the subject of long hair on older women. Not to give an honest diplomatic opinion on the subject. You don't like it..we can all get that..now..post your real age and a possible pic if you expect to be taken seriously on your posts as well as on your "dating" profile. The most basic information is in no way going to have an effect on identification theft or POF giving or selling it to advertising lists. You may actually even get a date that way. I certainly don't know of any woman..with short or long hair..that would e-mail someone for a date that won't even be honest enough to put a true age on his profile.
Long hair or short hair should always be the choice of the individual. Same with hair dye. Hair after all is only hair..even if we are sometimes identified (whether it's by ourselves or someone else) with a certain style..or color. If a woman cuts her hair to gratify somone elses perception of what length a hair style should be at a certain age..she can't very well glue it back on should she and/or others decide after that short hair isn't suited for her face shape and/or size..and/or..body shape and/or size. However..if a woman that feels she has out-grown the short style..or has a change in face and/or body shape and feels she no-longer looks as appealing..or would like to try something different for herself..she can always let her hair grow at ANY age. It can always be re-cut. Some women look better with short hair at any and every age. I'm not one of those women. I prefer my hair long and so do others on me. I'll keep my hair long until I decide it no longer is appealing.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/24/2007 9:44:10 AM | I think long hair versus short hair is what looks good on the person and what makes the person feel good about themself. It is one of the few places we get to be individuals or identify with a group and I think that should be a free choice.
Some long styles look more youthful than others because we have been socialized that some are age approriate but I don't know that I buy into even that arguement. My preference is for braids because I like the pattern and enjoy when loved ones share the time together; not because they are and ethnic marker. My guardians thought cutting my hair would make me look less Native and boy did that flop. lol Turns out I looked more like my siblings that all followed the "pixie" style at the time.
I have had my hair both long and short. I don't think either radically affected my sensuality. My experience is men have preferences and it hurts their feelings, if you ignore their's as a mate, but if a guy is only in love with my hairstyle then I am with the wrong person.
I find the long hair easier to wash, style, and control and certainly less expensive to maintain. Mine is real straight and not all that thick so with out a talented hair dresser it would be very plain long or short. Since electric shock probably wouldn't curl mine I gave up on the curlers idea long ago.
I tend to like hair ribbons, barrets and other hair jewlery that works better with long hair. Since many are travel souvieners and gifts from my friends and family I would miss wearing them so probably won't cut my hair anytime soon.
My only bottom line is if you have hair keep it clean and out of my food, machinery, or keyboard. If you are going to work where it is going to be an issue keep it covered male or female equally. Really grosses me out people who scratch, comb, twist, chew, or other wise mess with their hair where cleanliness should be a consideration.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/24/2007 10:44:14 AM | 30 pages of personal opinions is way too much for me to consider. I can't explain why, but, cutting my hair is not an option. I know that I should take "majority rules" but still I grow old with my long hair. I'm happiest with my hair thrown into a ponytail and only style it when an occassion arises. I guess I better rethink this long hair on older women. That is, WHEN I become an older woman. | |

Since WHEN is a woman approaching 50 years of age considered a YOUNG woman ????? (well she might be compared to a woman 90)
...Well since you state on your profile your 101 years of age....I would say 50 would be considered pretty young.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/24/2007 1:04:58 PM | That's kind of sad shekelcounter..that you think older women who have long hair look ridiculous. My granny didn't cut her hair her entire life. It was beautiful when she died at 89.
As far as women who are in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s dressing in clothing that YOU think looks like something a 20 year old would wear...well, some people do indeed think that men and women should reach a certain age and strap on granny panties, or in the case of men....black socks with flip flops, etc.
I'm of the opposite opinion, and really hope that I'm confident enough to take my "junior" jeans with me into my 80s. I have to say that I greatly admire those little old ladies who are strapped into fitted, leopardskin pants and wearing heels. They think they've got it goin on and by gosh...in my opinion..they DO. I'd much rather be one of them than one of those who is wearing a frumpy looking blouse over an ill-fitted skirt with orthopedic shoes to match. lol

The parade of long hair continues to grow. I know I posted here once or twice...but it was awhile back.
My hair is now officially past my waist!!!...AND it just keeps growing and growing and growing.
If I can meet but one goal in my life...it looks like I will be a granny with braids!
Peace to all and Happy Holidays WS

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/24/2007 10:18:41 PM | Ok. I agree 30 pages of opinion is a bit much but apparently this topic is hot for a very good reason. I would like to offer yet another reason why women with long hair are so appealing to men.
We are wired that way and it is only our culture which convinces us differently. Although I would never tell a woman how to wear her hair since she is the one who has to deal with taking care of it, I much prefer longer hair to short hair.
I think our Creator knows/knew what He was doing since He is so much higher than we are. Here is His opinion:
"A woman's hair is her glory, and it is a shame for a man to have long hair."
OK. Flame me if you wish now, but it is my conviction that a woman who has long hair is a glorious thing to behold.
(disclaimer*** for you ladies who have chosen to keep your hair short, please , this was not meant as a personal insult to you. )

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/25/2007 10:04:17 AM | | I keep mine medium length. It's barely long enough to pull back if I want to, and it has that fullness that not only a lot of men like, but also I feel it's more flattering on my shape of face. So there we go, I found that happy medium. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/28/2007 5:32:06 AM | I agree ... personally for me long hair is my style. I've had short hair before and all the comments that I got when it was short was "WHY DID YOU CUT YOUR HAIR OFF?"
So I figured that people perfer me with long hair, and so do the men I've dated. Dated a guy one time that told me I should cut my hair off ..... HENCE the ONE date... lol
Yes pass the bottle here too, I think if a woman or guy has long hair and keep it trimmed (split ends) and looking healthy then it's all good.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/28/2007 1:49:21 PM | | Wear your hair long if you look attractive that way, no matter what your age; also remember with longer hair, you can pin it up. Just be yourself! I 've worn my hair in various lengths throughout my life. I'm in the process of growing it longer once again. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/29/2007 1:48:19 AM | julie3167..
I had my hair trimmed about 4" just before a date. We had been on a few dates before..so he'd seen my hair already..and liked it. When I got to the place we met at..I told him of the trim and said it was a bit more off than I usually like. He said.."Let it grow." I told him if I didn't get it trimmed regularly..it would end up in a straggly vee shape. He said.."So..let it grow!" To him..trimming just meant shorter hair.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 11/29/2007 3:31:53 AM | I think it's up to the individual...If we want longer hair & have no prob w/ the upkeep, then fine- if not-fine!
I got quite a few inches chopped off mine recently- went from a longer shag to a bob because I was TIRED of all the PRODUCTS I needed to keep it 1/2 way decent. I thought to myself- WHO am I doing this for? When I decided I want to please myself more than some arbitrary member of the opposite sex, I had it trimmed!
