| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/10/2008 7:47:09 AM | I had my hair long until about 2 years ago. And when I cut it short in a bob style, a lot of people told me that I look younger. I'll never let it get long again. As a matter of fact I am going to get it cut tomorrow again. It just seemed that after a while, I needed a grown-up professional looking hair style. I have seen women with long long hair in their 50's and to me it seems kinda overtly childish. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/13/2008 2:22:55 PM | I am 48 and have had long hair all my life, and I am not getting it cut again (just trims to keep it healthy). I color it because I now have a headful of white and silver streaks. I had over 12" cut off in '90, and a bodyperm, but it was more difficult to take care of. I work in manufacturing, and I just pull it back in a ponytail to work around the machinery. I also ride motorcycles and am involved in the lifestyle, so long hair is very much accepted on males and females alike...no matter what age. I love to see a woman or man with clean long white/silver hair either loose or in a ponytail. One day I will just let mine grow without coloring it, and be very proud of my long white/silver tresses. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/13/2008 10:13:29 PM | Per your quote: _____________________ I'm 55 and look better with longer hair. When I did have short hair, i looked like a character from Beetlejuice...... ___________________ hehe - I'm not sure which character but that was funny!
I used to have thick blonde hair that reached blow the butt till about 5 years ago - got tired of it. Ever stand in line at a grocery store in the Summer, whip your head around to look at something and discover your head is kinda hung up due to wth is going on with the hair and EEEEKKKKKERS!! - a good clump of your hair is now deftly caught under a horribly sweaty man in the line in front of you.
Horrors!!! So what do you do ... I poke him on his arm - smile weakly and tell him my problem - raise your arm please and so he does and now I'm able to extract my hair out. He really smelled like he mucked out a cowbarn for the last 10 hours. Tired of the length of hair - stupid length got stuck in my jeans too, car doors, car windows ....
So anyways ... So I prefer my hair shoulder length to a little above or below. right now it's below. Tired of the people telling me -- Nooooooo don't cut your hair ----- it's soooo thick and gorgeous ---- noooooooo.
When I had my really long hair - I mean even braided - the braid went over the butt - it is so thick and heavy that it pulled on my scalp and essentially pulled my hair out - not to mention give me headaches, etc. So now it's still freaking thick, but at a length I like - shoulder.
(hmmmm, it's long at the moment!)
But I guess most importantly - age to cut the hair had NOTHING at all to do with it. I'm nearly that age and my hair is just fine - and terribly thick as always. I was just plain tired of it. I still will always like longer hair on me - but a couple feet less than what I've had it before (btw when I had one initial cut done - my ponytail went to kids with cancer).

I..........am......................wounded.
"pouting in the corner now"
Hey, I love pulling my hair up in a ponytail and braiding it especially on windy days, or when I am in a convertible car or on a bike! I Wear it straight down my back most of the time....I keep it clean, brushed, and shaped ... I have almost always had long hair, everyone who knows me has accepted me with my long hair over the years.... even tho I am old and decrepid. I kind of like feeling overtly childish at times , so I guess I can come out of the pouting corner now! My grandkids love brushing it and braiding it for me too. I think they would be shocked if I came home with a BOB haircut or anything in between

Ugh - this in reference to the women in blue post.
Need some better quoting stuff as I'd like to aim my answer to the person who quoted.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/14/2008 6:38:56 AM | | Your hair should be whatever length suits you. I have had my hair all lengths. I do find it harder to upkeep when longer but on the other had feel sexy with the long locks. Only one comment from a man wanting me to keep it long! | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/14/2008 11:15:01 AM | My vote is for long hair on a woman.... I've dated women with long, hair, short hair and all the lengths in between.... But long hair definately gets my attention first... To me, long hair seems so much more feminine.... | |

I discovered wigs and found an addiction. So if anyone wants advice on that do let me know. I have about 20 and match my hair to my outfit. I have hair now. But I wear them anyway. Its too much fun. Hazeldreaming, If I had money to spare, I would buy wigs too just for the fun of it. The only ones I have are the cheap ones I bought at Halloween. One is long, straight, and jet black and the other is a short spiky bright red wig. I loved wearing both of them. I think it would be fun to have short ones, long ones, straight ones, curly ones, black wigs, red wigs, and blonde wigs. Who knows, maybe a blue one or a pink one would be fun.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/15/2008 9:38:25 AM | I recently turned 49, and have very thick below the shoulder length hair.........
I would not trade it for short hair.......... not in the least.........................
I have been told many times, that I look 35, mind you I have great skin and take vvery good care of myself.......... I wear the appropriate make up as well.
I find long hair much easier to care for on a daily basis, and I am a very busy single parent.
I am finding that most men find longer hair very attractive....................
However to each his own...........................

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/15/2008 9:52:33 PM | Thats BS.. whos to say that a woman nearing 50 can't look mature and sopisticated with long hair? Long hair does not necessarily mean that a woman is trying to look younger. Maybe she just prefers it long and its healthy and well kept. Also, there are many different ways a woman can wear long hair. Many that are appropriate and fitting for an older woman.
Sheesh! the silly things people come up with!

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/16/2008 1:50:11 PM | Hmmmmm, so some people think that long hair on older women looks ridiculous??? I'll have to ask some of the guys I've met. I can tell you one thing for sure, I get a lot of compliments on my smile, eyes and legs but as far as physical things go I think I get more compliments on my hair than anything!
Longer hair definitely makes me feel more attractive AND..I need it to hide behind when I'm shy!
I also bleach ONLY THE FRONT blonde. lol I'm sure to those same people that really looks ridiculous but I feel it makes me "unique" and when I do something silly I can blame it on a partially blond moment!!

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/16/2008 2:02:46 PM | | Same here.I get many more compliments on my hair than anything else.It starts many more conversations than anything else. Its an ice breaker for some. When I blush I can easily hide behind it as well.lolIt makes me feel beautiful and it is so easy to keep.I do it for me,and ok for my mom as well since she told me she'd kill me if I cut it. lol | |
|
| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/16/2008 4:06:44 PM | | Long hair on any woman is sexy. You can do more things with it. And blonds are extra hot! And Debb1110, I agree with mom. Dont ever cut that hair. Its beautiful. Long hair is sexy. And woman of any age should be able to have thier as long as they like it. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/16/2008 5:10:59 PM | I'm 50 and my hair is almost to my waist, All natural and I LOVE it!!! wooohooo Hey Passion - my Grandma's hair went grey from the front and the back stayed darker .. mine is going the same way - Naturally!! The ONLY people who have said anything about me cutting my hair are other women who have short hair. One said to me: " Alien, you know, older women look better with short hair." .. I said "Yeah - You do!" lmao .. I suppose if i wanted to attract a short haired woman I might change my mind .. but .. Nope!
