I wonder about people who will critize others, not even knowing them yet calling them less than sexy, lazy and other put downs based on hair length alone.... My goodness I think thats mean sprited and shallow. I can easily grow my hair but its very unlikey that one's personality traits will ever change. Hopefully I will meet someone who appreciate me for all that I am including the length of my hair. Ah Mae, just another reason why I wub ya.....
I could give a rat's hiney whether or not anyone likes my hair long.
I like it.
End of story. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/17/2008 10:12:06 PM | I have never understood why long hair is such a hot topic, but it truly is, women especially are so upset that I wear my hair long, I have a nose ring and a tattoo, but it is the hair that seems to upset them, you would think it would be my politics, religion or something REALLY important, but no, it's my hair- WEIRD
as far as trying to "act" younger or "childish"... actually I like not shelling out my hard earned cash to a hair dresser every other week, and as far as upkeep, the most I give my hair is a shampoo and throw it up or braid it- long hair fits my budget and lifestyle, so if other women don't care for it long, that's the least of my concern-

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/19/2008 8:34:35 PM | as I always say age does not matter
when you act old ........ then you get and are old
long hair depends on the person how it looks on them not how old they are
men prefer long hair
I know a woman who had long hair and she was 60 and she was beautiful with it it was past her waist long it looked good on her
why do these women insist on omg i am a certain age now I have to go cut my hair and look that old then they start dressing like old women
I have a friend who is in college with me she is 50 something she has a figure better than most 18 year olds because she runs 7 miles a day she has beautiful dancer legs and long hair like I do
people try to tell her she is too old to wear long hair and to wear shorts and short skirts
know why they are jelous of her because she is beautiful and looks good and they have let their selves go and act and dress old
again if you act old you will become old its all in the attitude

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/19/2008 8:39:40 PM | It just depends on the person.. I see nothing wrong with an older woman with long hair or short hair, it's only hair.
I have had short hair most of my adult life, and it suits me fine. My hair is very thick and the one or two times I tried to grow it out, I didn't have much luck with it, so got it cut.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/19/2008 11:54:15 PM | ...I have learned to please myself first, I have kept my hair short and sassy for many, many years...it suits my face and I think my personality. There are some very attractive males with long hair and some with no hair that are incredibly sexy...its not about hair length, its about "the package"...inside and out. If someone choose to pass me over because I wear my hair shorter....than maybe " its a good thing" to quote Martha Stewart.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/20/2008 10:10:12 AM | lm 50 years old, will be 51 in a couple weeks, my hair is to my butt and that is short for me. When my grandmother died hers was to her knees but she always kept her's rolled into a bun. l roll mine in hot rollers to give it curl and because it is naturally wavey it holds a curl and it looks nice when l roll it for special occasions and it looks nice when l dont as well. l have never had anyone tell me that l should cut it to look my age. l have had many people tell me they dont believe that lam as old as lam. l will never cut my hair short and that has nothing to do with a man, it has everything to do with me as a women and my personal feelings about my own femininity.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/21/2008 4:04:44 PM | Long hair on a woman is a preference-whatever a woman is willing to put up with is the thing. Mine is like medium length, but I sure wish it was long again.
Once thing that needs to be seen is when the woman has spent a long time of all that care on her 'lofty locks' it should be taken into consideration. Each time I get my hair to a certain length I get all this bull about my hair needing a trim. Now I understand that there are split ends that need snipped, but some folks go overboard.
My own sister did this to me-told me my hair needed a cut so I could 'fit in' the newest styles. I had already trimmed it, but was too intimidated by her to say something. When she was done all I could do was cry. My hair has never gotten long again, and I really miss it.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/21/2008 7:51:43 PM | I'm 55 ;5ft 3; size 2 & I cut my hair onca a year if it needs it or not. Presently I am coloring the grey, that is the most work I do. I can braid it, french twist it or bun it faster than any of my friends with short hair. I keep it long in the summer so I can wrap it away. Let it grow long for the winter, When I cut it , I cut it short, one length & let it grow again for a year. I don't really care what other people say, its my life, my hair & my choice. My question is what about shorts & short skirts, I'm willing to consider social norms sometimes. No one believes my age, its a mental concept to me. I have always set my standards regardless of anyone else's opinion, do what you want as long as you want. if your not hurting anyone else it should be Ok, The only person who I would care about would be the opinion of a family member or close friend. I don't really care about the opinion of men, I am much too secure in my opinion of myself to care. I know what my personal value is & that seems to attract more men whether my hair is short or long. Take care of yourself for yourself, your happiness depends on you, not your hair, eyes, leggs or anything else. Abundant happiness & health to all. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/21/2008 10:30:47 PM | | Gone are the days when women over a certain age are expected to cut and lighten their hair. I'm 57 and have thick, naturally loosely curled, soft black hair that is past the middle of my back. I am always getting compliments, from both men and women of all ages, on my hair. Keep your hair the way you like it. You are the one who has to live with it. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/24/2008 12:09:17 PM | Well I can t believe this , but I am growing it again. Just happenned. PPl made comments your hair is getting long. no too long is needing a trim sorta rough at the edges. it grew fast you would not call it medium lenght anymore just longer hair almost mid of my back grew like a weed | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/24/2008 3:39:17 PM | | I really think that long hair gives the older woman a more youthful appearance. I say the longer the better. Keep it growing!! | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/24/2008 5:01:32 PM | I Love Long Hair. I Love Long Hair on Men. I Love Long Hair on Women. I love the feel of wind in my hair. I love when I feel it down my back, against my skin. I feel sexy when it touches my shoulders. It keeps me warm in winter when I wear it down and cool in summer when in a ponytail. I cant imagine why age would have anything to do with the length of your hair. Maybe its that green monster called JEALOUSY!!!!! If only my nails could grow..... | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/24/2008 10:10:56 PM | I suggest therapy for anyone that looks to others for a decision regarding what is 'right' for them. If you are happy with long hair.... keep it. There will always be someone out there (men and women) ready to criticize whatever choice you make. Live for what YOU want... enjoy your choices and embrace the life you live. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/25/2008 3:21:28 AM | OMG - I have long hair??
Now what do I do, cut it off for a date, or keep it, thinking,
Long hair you can change the style all the time, up down, half up, left parting right parting, lion hair, smooth hair, and the list goes on.
When it gets lank and boring and horrible then I shall cut it short and be stuck with one style till the next visit to the hairdresser.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/25/2008 10:06:32 PM | | Have to agre with Cotter on this,it's damn sexy, was walking my dog in the park and met a lady who might have been in her fifties wearing pigtails, she made my knees go weak, her hair was graying but I swear the pigtails took twenty years off her. Had she not been wearing a weding ring I would have proposed to her on the spot. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/26/2008 5:23:08 PM | | I am 53 and I have long hair... I've had short hair for years and decided to grow it out... My daughters and my friends love it on me and I'll be honest, I feel great with long hair... I wash my hair every day and maintain it so it doesn't look raggedy... I think it depends on the person and if they are willing to take care of long hair.... | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/26/2008 5:51:42 PM | | I use to have short hair mainly because my hair is really think and unruly.. it does what it wants to do. I decided to grow it out because a hair dresser told me that if I did it wouldn't look so thick.. lol it is still thick but I like it longer. I can do more things with it. I too rarely blow dry my hair. As for men wanting their women to have long hair.. well I want my man to have hair on his head! Us women should insist on that.. I find a thick head of hair very attractive.. however it is not a determining factor as to whether or not a date a fellow. They have to be able to communicate effectively before I even consider meeting them. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/28/2008 11:17:07 AM | I still wear my hair long because it feels right for me, i've nearly always worn it long. It is breaking and thinning out though, possibly due to stress over the past couple of years or maybe because I tend to clamp or tie it up far more to 'compromise' with 'expectancy'. I find some people think I am rather odd because I have long hair - I suppose I am a little eccentric. I dread the day that I may have to cut it short, but it certainly won't be a boring 'mature' style...as that is not ME! I am always jealous when I see women with longer and thicker hair than mine...that says it all, I think...! Need I say, I love long hair on men too...! | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/28/2008 12:21:46 PM | I wear it (waist-length), 'cause I LIKE it like that!
Smiles, Rossal
I don't know where people/they/society come up with all these rules....like cutting your hair once you become a certain age......it makes my mother crazy (LOL); she bugged me for 30 years to "why don't you wear it like you did in high school?!"
Sheeesh; she made me keep it short back then, and it is very thick and verrrry curly........does what it wants to.....Now, I do what I want to, LOl, LOL

| Long hair on older women Posted: 5/29/2008 9:07:55 AM | | Some of us older women have to wear their hair long.Mine is really curly so short is out. Lots of guys like long hair but in the end it doesnt seem to matter. My benefit is also wash and wear. | |
