Heck, I've seen over 45-50 year old women still attempting to wear
micro minis, and 'short-shorts' like they are 19 ! I suppose they 'think'
they look good with that on, when in fact it seems to look foolish and
a bit out of place Yes, it's about the right time of the year to wear the short shorts too. (I get them from the juniors department because the one in Misses are too long and I look better in shorter shorts.) I'll be age-inappropriate (if that's what you want to call it) for as long as I feel like it or until I get cellulite. If I were trying to appear younger I would color my hair like most people do. The great thing about getting older is you care less and less what other people think.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 6:44:48 AM | "Opinion" need not be vetted, to be issued....
It's equally as 'foolish' to 'battle' over 'opinion'..
"Opinion" need not be agreed to...that too is silly...
Whether or not a woman accepts some basic axioms about age-appropriateness is telling indeed.
The process of aging dictates some common sense...A 50 year old chunky woman wearing micro minis, short-shorts with long hair down her back can look a bit inappropriate to say the least.....unless of course she is deluded into believing the 'mirror, mirror on the wall'.......which, by definition is quite delusional.
But of course, every woman has the right to be delusional and inappropriate...that's a given..........others have the right to exercise a thing called good judgment, taste and a bit of common sense.
To each his own......but everyone still has the right to peruse, comment, and of course laugh out loud.
You know who you are.
No one must agree...that's called freedom

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 8:50:04 AM | Opinions...and Tastes.... My Opinion...: If a womans appearance is Enhanced by ANYthing....she can have it...show it...and Flaunt it...however she sees Fit..!! My Tastes .. I _Adore_ L O N G Hair..!! Even if I don't find her otherwise 'attractive' .. Long Hair _Always_ Drops-My-Jaw !! . . . . | |
|
| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 8:59:33 AM | and she has the right to look positively foolish doing so ^^
no doubt.....
she also has the right to think she still has the attributes of yesteryear as well....even when the mirror suggests otherwise...
There's something to be said about an aging, wrinkled 50 year old wearing short-shorts, five inch heels, and a lingerie, midriff top as well.....
such is life | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 9:02:59 AM | | ^^^Not sure just where you have been looking, but I have not found that to be an issue! All things in moderation keeping good taste in mind. And truly? If one does not care for another's looks or the way they present, they do not have to look, correct??? | |
|
| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 9:35:07 AM | I absolutely love long hair on older women. I don't see why age has anything to do with it. I don't think of long hair as being a graceless attempt to appear youthful at all. If the hair is nice, why not?

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 9:37:16 AM | ^^^ THE SALIENT POINT IT SEEMS remains 'one must look' FIRST in order to ascertain what is 'cared for'....
that should be easy enough to comprehend methinks....
one always must "look" then decide, not 'decide' first....
whew....quite silly reasoning
to each his own..... | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 10:47:02 AM | | saramana... you sure are negative about women over 50. I makes me curious as to why. What women have you been around all of your life? I am 57 years old, have minimal wrinkles, hardly gray (do not color it) but I have never worn a micro-mini or short shorts or midriff top in my life. But I would if I should decide to. That is my decision to make and not for you or any one else. I can decide what to do with my hair also. My former supervisor is a dark skinned lady, very classy and elegant. She is 63 years old and wears her hair in an poytail with a wide clip, ponytail is about 15 inches long and it is salt and pepper and she wears it all back, no bangs. She is so beautiful and I could never imagine here with short hair. She definitly does not look silly. You have lumped all women with maybe the ones that you are picking up in sleazy bars? | |
|
| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 12:15:32 PM | | There is nothing wrong with older women and longer hair. There are some cute women on here with long hair, so if you have it show it off. | |

PhD???? Actually I have seen the women you describe above on some street corners trying to make a living. Moi thinks you have limited your life experience to the above women….
You might view some of the profiles here of women in their 50’s .... are you a troll?

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 12:53:58 PM | Ms. Wolves, what was your first clue? LOL A man called Sara? The date he/she joined? If not a troll, perhaps a bottom feeder or under 18? Whatever the case may be, the poster certainly dislikes older woman with long hair and wearing certain fashions. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 1:17:56 PM | I dislike older women with long hair and wearing certain fashions as well. Of course, the "older" part is not related to my taste, nor is the "long hair" part. There are just some fashions that women wear that I don't find appealing.....
In fact, it may not even be related to the fashions, either !
No doubt about it, however, there are some fashions that I just love, especially on older women with long, luxurious, flowing, glistening hair falling across a magnificent pair of....oh well, you can probably fill in the rest....

SaraMana: It's like women over 40s sporting a new butt tattoo, low-slung hip hugging jeans, nose studs, micro-mini skirts, six inch heels, bare-midriff tops, and the like... IT LOOKS MOSTLY LIKE THEY ARE TRYING TO COMPETE with women 20 years their junior.....and that is very very foolish indeed.
You keep using comments such as "to each his own" and "such as life" but still you continue to have these ongoing opinion and rebuttles... you made your point... which portrays you in my eyes as very narrow minded.
I'm 45 and have collected tattoos for 22 years and will never stop (near half my body). Shall I have thousands of dollars of removal done because they are no longer age appropriate or because people such as yourself feel I am trying to compete with 20 yr olds? get a grip. I also have a facial peircing for some years. Are they a select fashion to only one age group. I wear 6 inch heels on occasion - why, because I love them. In my world, you would be flattened by some very miffed men if you ever openly vocalized your opinion that I was "very very foolish indeed", within their presence.
As I said, lets see a picture or two of you...

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 2:13:35 PM | | You just have not seen me extolling the virtues of short haired women. But, I do.....:) | |
|
| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 3:25:15 PM | | My youngest sister sports a belly ring and now and then in the summer she dresses to show it. She may even have a small tattoo somewhere. She's 44 and tiny with a small waist and she looks cute whether her tummy is showing or not. Her husband evidently doesn't have a problem with it. She isn't trying to compete with 20 year olds or anyone else since she's been happily married for 20+ years now. I think we're all able to decide for ourselves how we want to wear our hair and what clothing we feel best in. I don't know why some people think older women are worried about competing with 20 yr olds anyway. Most of us have daughters or nieces that we love dearly. We know they're beautiful. So what? | |
|
| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/3/2008 5:01:58 PM | my hair is long because i like it that way and it feels comfortable to me. mine was a few inches below my waist before a 6 inch trim. now it's a couple of inches above my waist. i find a shorter cut to be MUCH more trouble to style. when mine was shorter i felt limited, with no way to dress it up for evening wear. it was the same ol tiresome do day after day
it's not that i think long hair is the only way to go. not all hair is suited for a long length. i frequently admire attractive shorter cuts
At what age should/would women "give up the locks" to remain attractive and "in style"?
who says that's what it takes?

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/4/2008 7:12:27 AM | ^^^Well my good man? I can understand that sometimes certain things do not look appealing on either a male or a female. I do ok for my age and have never been accused of acting/dressing like a teenager. And quite frankly? That is all that is important to me. You are most entitled to your opinion, the same as I am and the rest of the folks that have posted here.... | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/4/2008 7:13:25 AM | Since you wanted to know Ms RUNNING :
PhD ? well no.....but I didn't see a MBA/JD box to check
fair enough ?
Second point : What's with the personal attack ?? that is unnecessary and is
revealing about YOU.....why do you find it necessary to attempt to attack a
poster personally, as opposed to the content of the post ?
Cheap, stupid stuff | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/4/2008 7:26:42 AM | ^^^^^ well, Sarasota/Manatee, that would be in Florida-
why don't you find some other topics on POF to post, where your MBA wisdom would be better suited because you're becoming redundant-
we get it- if you're over 40-short hair good, long hair bad-

| Long hair on older women Posted: 6/4/2008 7:36:35 AM | for me it depends, just as it does on younger women. i personally like longer hair and wear it pretty proudly myself. as a child of the 60s-70s i grew up with long haired girls and still find that a preference. | |
