| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/18/2008 7:09:59 AM | My hair is very much a part of who I am
It not artifically titipated Its simply *me*
I'm almost 50 and still cant imagine myself with short hair
Often I wear it up in a twist...or in a plait Or down Depending on the occasion or if I am working or in a very windy place! lol
I always carry a hair pin in my handbag just in case Being wind whipped and blinded by a wind coming from behind.....isnt fun

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/18/2008 7:16:37 AM | I had long hair for many years in an old style that I loved. When my daughter got married 3 years ago she asked me cut it in a modern style. Alas there began the short went to shorter and shorter yet. I finally said, enough of this insanity. I am letting it grow back. It is now almost to my shoulders, curly and blonde.......I am so glad I grew it back. I am not planning on cutting it again regardless of who's wedding I'm in lol. I think short looks great on some gals but is not for me. Yes I agree that guys do fantasize about long locks.......... | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/18/2008 7:35:41 AM | OMG this tired old thread is back again
Cut your hair to fit your face and good stylist will tell you that
And since we might as well get this over keep it clean and colored . You have no idea how
many years you add back to your life when you do.
Applies to men as well as woman

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/18/2008 8:07:29 AM | | I am 56 almost 57 and as u see I have long hair.Yes it does take a little longer to get ready,,but I dont mind. I know many women my age that say,,"when u get older u should have short hair" I dont know where that rule is written,,BUT, I like having longer hair, and the men like it too..I know women cut there hair real short because >,well in my opinion,, I dont think taking care of myself and looking nice and being clean is a bother... | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/18/2008 6:48:59 PM | Great :) So glad you spit out your coffee Sara I'd love to see the pics of that wonderful (and oh so mentionable) event
Along with the pics of YOU seems how you have so much fun coming in here mouthing off and being critical of others who are NOT HIDING themselves
Might it be a picture of a TROLL perhaps?

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/18/2008 7:20:08 PM | I have no idea the percentage of men that "fantasize" about long hair, but I have had the experience with cyber male friends commenting on my hair and even sometimes with IRL male friends commenting on how they like long-haired women. I have no idea if my hair was one of the reasons that drew them to make contact in the first place.
I have found being freed from the constant upkeep of monthly trims, hair spray (no more helmet-hair), etc., to be liberating!!! now, if the wind blows it all over, all I need is to comb it. period. I still need to perform some styling after washing it, but NOTHING like I did when it was short.
for ME, my hair is just fine and fits MY needs. no harm, no foul.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/18/2008 7:25:09 PM | | I like long hair I cannot lie, but when I see Posh Beck's short sleek ' do..... I wonder, would it look anywhere near as good on me?? As long as Madonna's got her flowing sexy locks , all of us older ladies can flaunt ours! | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/18/2008 10:40:58 PM | | SaraMana, do I really appear to be ridiculous looking , IYO? I am frankly getting tired of your veiled insults on this thread. Just come out an insult us and quit playing games. | |

SaraMana, do I really appear to be ridiculous looking... Why even respond? It's not as if any of it is constructive criticism

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/19/2008 6:29:57 AM | sapphhireeyes, your post was the most touching in quite a long time...
In 2002 I lost all my hair from chemo....when it started to grow back and was at the "short stage...my kids said "Mom, you have hair... you look like a dyke but you have hair!"
.....and when I read threads like this I have to laugh cause there is always the option of NO HAIR!!!!! Amen sister. Long or short or NOTHING, it's the beauty underneath and inside that makes a woman shine. Our accoutrements are just that.... and we should never lose sight of who we are.
I think this thread was quite enlightening about who certain people are, and for that we should be very grateful! lol

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/19/2008 11:37:16 AM | | I say wear your hair the way YOU like it. Long, short, permed, colored, or natural...be who you are, and do what you like. | |
|
| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/19/2008 11:44:53 AM | | Does anybody out there really care what Saramana thinks about the subject or how we wear our hair? I really doubt it. | |
|
| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/19/2008 7:43:24 PM | | "People say that women over 30 shouldn't have long hair? "What people? The short haired butch women? I never met a man who complained about long hair on ANY woman. That's pretty convenient since I love my hair and don't intend cutting it anytime soon. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/19/2008 8:13:32 PM | i've had long hair my entire life for one simple reason: its easy. i don't own a dryer, and have never needed one. i simply wash my hair, comb it, and go. no time, no effort, no fuss. i often wash it before bed, spread a towel over the pillow, and simply let it dry overnight.
and i also love the look and feel of long hair, along with its versatility. so over the years, i've never listened to all those people who told me i'd cut it when: 1. i got married, 2. i had children 3. i took a management job 4. i hit 40 or 5. my kids were grown.
silliness!!! do what you want, BECAUSE you want it, ad you'll be happier and psychologically healthier...

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/19/2008 8:36:35 PM | "good gawd....have mercy........this is better than
going to see the clowns at Ringling "
OMG a mirror was just delivered to the trailer park and poor saramana got a look at herself. Don't fret saraman Ringling Brothers has an opening for you, there is always a job for the bearded lady....

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/19/2008 9:14:16 PM | If it looks good ,wear it!!!!!! Long hair is great if you keep it in good shape, and you can wear it up or down. Once it's short you don't get as many options. However some people may look best with different styles, its a personal choice. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/20/2008 12:56:52 PM | I would never tall a woman how to wear her hais. and I think that there are lots of good solutions for any individual. However, I love long hair always, and don't think that there is anything at all wrong with women who have long hair at any age. I think that it looks just terrific. I particularly liked dreamgirl's answer, that it is both practical and that men never object to it.

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/20/2008 1:53:18 PM | | I had my hair cut last November and really regretted it, so I'm still trying to get it back to how it was before. Nobody preferred my hair short either. | |

| Long hair on older women Posted: 7/20/2008 2:20:51 PM | Bullielover, thank you...the funny part is now 5 years later both my kids tell me how beautiful my hair is...that to me is worth more than any compliment from the men ^^
As far as someone who likes to post for attention, I would rather be who I am and comfortable with it than feel I have to insult people to get someone to acknowledge my presence.
