Long Hair Is A Woman's Glory At Any Age
Posted: 7/21/2008 10:34:36 AM
I am 50 and have worn my hair long for the past two years. I love it. It's never a big deal to wash and wear down or up. I only get it done once a year because it doesn't require a lot of work, at all. But the biggest thing for me is that I feel pretty with my long hair, which I usually wear down. And yes, the guys like it.

Long hair is also my way of being a non-conformist, since most women my age have short hair. I love having long hair, and when I'm old, I want to be a long-haired, eccentric old lady who wears t-shirts and long skirts :)

Sara, just some little pointers here. One, this is dating site so the general idea, if you are hetero, is to present myself as attractive to men, because I'm looking for a man, yes? Hint: men like attractive women, not bitter, "appropriate", "common sense" women. And you, sound very bitter and emasculating. Yeah. BAck to the drawing board for you.

Psssst...... In the future peeps, all ya gotta do is report the person who is offensive and breaking the PoF rules....
DO NOT RESPOND TO THEM. If you'll note, he's gone. POOF.
And he's gone because *someone* reported him and his posts. The forums are for debate
and discussion, and when someone is hindering that process due to their own negative
agenda, REPORT THEM and DO NOT RESPOND.

OT: Long, short, curly, straight, real or fake...... It should only matter to the person wearing it.
And if someone feels the need to demean or put someone down for their choice, then that
person is not worthy of your time.

I went on a first date with a bald man who suggested I cut my hair because that's how he'd like it.

He had dessert by himself.

I am a middle aged woman who has had long hair all my life. I like it, it is easy to manage, up or down. I am sure it makes no difference to anyone but me what length my hair is.

No purple in my hair right now, but my hair 26" long and is still growing! I can hear ZZ Top singing she has hair down to her belly as I type this. Of course I love a sharped dressed man too.

I still have had no complaints about my hair and have been told never to cut it. I donated it once to locks of love, too old to do that again, but highly recommend it to younger women that can grow it back.

Me too...at one point it was too long ( waist length)..I had like 7 inches cut off..and I donated it the local place that used it to make wigs for children going through chemo..one of the most gratifying things I ever did...

I am sure that it is just me, but I do not like long straight hair (parted in the middle and hanging down the sides of the face) on many women, especially those over 40. 20's can handle it fine. But, it seems to drag the face down with age and gravity. Full long beautiful hair is beautiful on anyone.

No written rule for hair length. It is up to the lady to be happy with however she wishes to wear it. I personally hate "comb overs". If a man wears his hair that way, fine with me, I just click "next".

...Its funny you should mention that because one of my daughters has shoulder length hair and she is continually brushing it away from her face....her hair completely covers over one eye and half of her face. When it came time to pay for school photos, I jokingly told her I'll pay for half, since thats all I can see is half your face.

I've always had long hair. It keeps me warm in the winte and it's on top of my head in the summer. If I live in Florida I might cut it all off.

Long Hair dates back to cave days and is pure Sex things for men. Older women look older with long hair as gravity is working against you so cut your cut and find a more sophicated man with some class.

In what handbook (that I apparently didn't receive) is it stated that older women should not have long hair ??? And what the heck does having class have to do with hair length ???

Some of these posts are just laughable!

My daughter is a cosmetologist and assures me every time I get a trim I am waaay too old to be wearing my hair long. WTH ??? As I constantly remind her (as she's cutting 3 inches instead of the 1 I asked for! ) it's MY hair, I tend to it, and it's just a part of "WHO I AM".

On that note ~ I will say, that some female friends and co~workers have gotten theirs cut and they "do" look younger. Apparently I'm just not that worried about looking younger!

I think it's all just a matter of purrsonal preference and we should do as "we" please with our locks, whether they be long, short, colored, or natural. I'm sticking with long and natural (even though the 'character' grays do seem to be totally unruly! LOL)

Oh, Miss Kitty: I TOTALLY resonate; my hair is looong, cause I like it that way. I never have been a follower of someone else's rules---about anything!

I know some women my age think you ought wear skirts down to the ankles too......that will never happen with me. Legs are the last to go, LOL!

I have long hair. I have class.

Remember that, because there might be a test later, LOL!!

I love my hair. I plan on having it long until I am senile and in a home and even then I am going to inist it stay long. Unless I decide that I want it short. I like the way it feels, the way it makes me feel, how good it smells...I don't care who likes it or who doesn't- *I* like it and that is who matters the most.

Obviously a woman can do what she wants.....inarguable...(I still have the right to laugh and snicker)

Obviously some women on the street don't own a full length mirror either.

Obviously some women look scary (and some men).

Some older women think the Farah Fawcett look still works..other 45-50 year women think that pontails, pigtails, bangs , or spiked hair still work......go figure

Other older women may think school-girl ribbons in their hair looks 'cute'....lol

Some if not all women, say over 45-50 can look downright silly with styles obviously marketed and suited for much younger women...just like there are some 45 year old women that believe they look good in micro-mini skirts, lingeries halter tops, nose rings and butt tattoos. Most look downright silly in my opinion, but they are in denial about age and appropriateness.

Some women keep a 'style' for a man, or for 'what men like'....again, go figure

Some women are just lazy (just like some men)

Some women hate change...and hate aging, hence the ever-ending effort to find the right make-up, color, "age defying creams" lol...... boobjobs, tummy-tucks, tattoos, Junior Department clothing, etc....all the while knowing that they shall NEVER look like they did even 15 years earlier.......but they still hold on to futile efforts sometimes...

Yep, of course what matters is what 'they think'.......

.........well sorta......I'm sure they will keep having those flawed thoughts as well

I'll keep my own thoughts...looking and wondering and sometimes shaking my head
other times simply laughing my azz off in wonderment

Sherry, I'm with you.....long hair on older women to me looks tacky. When I was in my 20's I had shoulder length but now that I'm nearing 60......forgrt it. I like the get up and go hair .....just my opinion. Pam

OMG!! The thread that won't die!
Here's the thing I hate about long hair,, cleaning it out of the shower drain and off the roller brush of my vacuum. Oh, I also hate sitting on it when I'm driving, but I wear it in a long braid most of the time, so that's not usually an issue.
I have noticed the sagging some have referred to,, that's about my hair??? Silly of me,, I thought it might have been more about the 60 birthdays I've seen. Who knew....

Believe it or not that is another thread on here But that was funny

Fedzbureau, I always find my amusement when someone without the guts to post a picture feels to involved themselves in a conversation that is looks based and then expects others to find validity in their words, I would respect comments from you on the evils of the internet :P

funny, this person sounds remarkably like the dearly departed (booted??) sara****, complete with word-for-word verbiage of his "admiration" of the female population...........of course, i could be wrong.

Looks like hell and makes you look older, as gravity is against us so cut your hair and find a man that appreciates you as you are and age is wonderful if you handle it with grace.
