| Anyone from East Texas area? Posted: 7/23/2006 1:13:15 PM | countrygirl, When did you live in Yantis? My father-in-law was the mayor there many years ago before he was killed in a car accident. I lived there for a while, then moved to Wills Point. My son and I moved to Georgia, where all my family is, just over two years ago. | |

| Anyone from East Texas area? Posted: 7/23/2006 3:34:35 PM | Howdy from the Tyler/Whitehouse area! Am fairly new to the area, and is it just me, or is there this real "if you weren't born here, you don't belong" feeling to the area? In all fairness though, did come here from a big city, so it my just be the culture shock. Happy fishing, all! | |

| Anyone from East Texas area? Posted: 7/23/2006 4:31:45 PM | Hey Nmbrsguy, I'm originally from Georgia, which, as you see, is where I live now, but when I lived in Texas, it was great! I moved home because my son wanted to be with family and his father's side is a total basket case! We lived in Wills Point, which is about an hour north of Tyler. The people there are some of the nicest I've ever met...when we left, it was as if we were leaving part of our family behind. Give yourself time...you'll meet the right people! If they don't embrace you in Tyler/Whitehouse, take 64 north to Wills Point. Tell them Susan sent you! | |

| Anyone from East Texas area? Posted: 7/23/2006 7:36:10 PM | LOL Susan - I went in the other direction...came here from a town near Atlanta. May think about going to Willis Point, because it's been an awfully quiet year around here. Thanks for the advice, and hope you're finding Georgia to be a great place as well! | |

| Anyone from East Texas area? Posted: 7/23/2006 9:55:39 PM | | Where near Atlanta did you live? It's great to be home again, but I still miss Wills Point (not Willis, but we get that a lot)! Let me know if you decide to go that way and I'll give you some people to look up. | |

| Anyone from East Texas area? Posted: 7/24/2006 5:58:59 AM | | I was born there, but got out as fast as I could. I lost that damned accent that sounds like from a foreign country, too. East Texas has a lot of history, maybe a some good people, but too many are prejudiced, ignorant redneck hicks I'm ashamed to say I'm related to. Those of us who are part American Indian still hid it (until my generartion) because they're even prejudiced against us - the very first Texans! I probably wouldn't date a man from there, because they are too old-fashioned and controlling about women. Women are humans too, not livestock. | |

| Anyone from East Texas area? Posted: 7/24/2006 8:14:05 AM | | I'm confused...where were you born? Your post here versus your profile is confusing. Luckily for me I was only married to a Texan, so I no longer have any ties to some of those redneck hicks you mentioned!! | |

| Anyone from East Texas area? Posted: 7/25/2006 3:56:12 PM | Hey Susan...Lived in Conyers for a couple of years, and Bainbridge for a few more, so have spent about 6 years in Georgia (originally from Massachusetts, but I've been just about everywhere...at least, it feels like it somedays.) Might take you up on the references, though. | |

| Anyone from East Texas area? Posted: 7/25/2006 3:58:24 PM | | Ha! I have a friend that lives in Conyers and works for the NAMB. Not sure if I know anybody from Bainbridge, but my brother lives in Loganville. | |

| Anyone from East Texas area? Posted: 7/26/2006 4:31:50 AM | | Well, some of the counties are dry around here. Panola county residents have to one of the neighboring counties to get our beer, lol.... | |
