| What are you afraid of? Posted: 10/28/2006 8:13:45 PM | It is, whysper....hilarious, even! I spent a good part of today engaged in a rousing round of B*tch-Fu with last night's über-intelligent suitor. It started with him saying, "hi sexy, let's drink something"...and me replying, "liiiiike....maybe antifreeze?"...and progressed to him telling me, repeatedly, that I'm a "fat ass" because he couldn't think of anything better to say.
Online dating is a neverending source of amusement, isn't it?

You hang in there too...you'll find him!

| What are you afraid of? Posted: 10/31/2006 9:13:35 AM | Yall are too funny. But I get the same thing, within three sentences you can pretty much see where the conversation in going. It is more entertaining to sit and read what everyone is saying and try to guess what certain ones will say next. That's entertainment. | |

| What are you afraid of? Posted: 10/31/2006 1:10:56 PM | Ok...here it is..I wrote this to a friend, and after proof reading it, I then realized what it is I afraid of and why I shy away from so many, because he has to be the right one, and I am afraid, I will not find the one worthy of these things I want to give. Time after time, I have been asked what it is I am looking for, and time and after time, I would respond, first out loud to self, "I can tell you what I am not looking for easier than what I can say I am looking for".
But here it is, like it or not, in black and white;
And again you are right when it comes to being picky, and choosing that special someone, after all, forever is a long, long time. And oh yes, lots of adjusting, sacrificing and compromising, and it all has to stem from communication, not yelling, not clamming up, or even sitting on the great throne of self pity.
I really don't ask a whole lot of others, just from myself. I do have higher expectations of myself when it comes to Loving and fully giving of myself to others, be it friends, family, or that One out there somewhere. I hope whoever he is, will appreciate everything that I am, where I have come from, and willing to accept the unconditional love I will shower him with.
I want to give to him freely and fully and honor him with his deepest desires before he has to mention them, or sometimes even realizes that is what he wanted. I want to know him better than he knows himself. And look to be there on his best as well as worst days. And that when I speak of him, my eyes twinkle, and a glow surrounds my being as an almost heavenly presence around me, but because of him. I want to be his partner, bestfriend, stand beside him even if he is wrong, but willing to accept the wrong in him as well as the rights.
I want him in this huge circle, the world revolving around him, and me standing on the outer far edges making sure the world continues to revolve around him, because he will be my world, and nothing else will matter but Him. And to give up self for this man, he has to be extremely deserving!!
That's what I am afraid of!!

| What are you afraid of? Posted: 11/3/2006 5:57:08 PM | | why do people assume that over weight people are pigs when it comes to eating? I eat less food than my aunt whos a size 14. I have an ultra slow metabolism, and i make bad food choices, but i dont run around eating everything in site. Get over it people, sheesh! | |

| What are you afraid of? Posted: 11/4/2006 5:19:47 AM | This will not make any difference to say it, but I am gonna say it anyway. People who assume things about weight are STUPID!! They think overweight means pigs, dumb, lazy, sloppy, clumsy, and many other negative things. The fact is most are just bigger.....not dumb, lazy, sloppy, clumsy...etc.
Also, the double standard thing factors in. A man 20% over his ideal weight is considered, husky, "big man", strong, and in the normal range by most people, A woman 20% over her normal weight is thought of as all the negative adjectives above.
I have actually seen and heard men with huge guts hanging over their belts commenting on the "fat lady".
Come on people, this is discrimination just like any other. We have the right to have preferences, but we do not have the right to pass judgement.

| What are you afraid of? Posted: 11/4/2006 5:30:40 AM | No, Nomad, you are not the only one. Most of my fears are temporary. I had a scare this morning. There was a 3" scorpion in my kitchen floor. I HATE those!!! I was afraid he might get me before I could get my shoe off and squash him. Yes, I took my shoe off because it had open toes and I didn't want that whip of a tail to zap me.
I won. I usually do. I like to play Tootsie Wins in all games of skill and life. That is my strategy. I go into everything with the idea already in my head that Tootsie Wins. And so far, even with temporary setbacks, it has worked. I believe in a higher power so even when life leaves my body, my spirit will continue, and I will still win!
Thinking of life as a game helps me to not take things too seriously and the bad things as temporary. I can overcome....and will! This attitude has helped me through even the most serious and life altering events.

| What are you afraid of? Posted: 12/2/2006 9:25:34 AM | Have you ever been afraid of letting someone in, scared of maybe hurting them, not intentionally, not by any sense of the word.
But...scared of having people get close to you when you are about to endure the most pain physically that you could ever imagine. One that takes its toll on you, emotionally, and physically. And afraid to let the ones you love see this?
Running scared because you don't want them to love you just to possibly abandon them by means that are out of your control? Please someone tell me that this is a normal fear.
|
| What are you afraid of? Posted: 12/2/2006 4:46:33 PM | dream, are you saying that you are afraid that you will hurt someone? Afraid that if you let them get close and then you can not love them back enough? Afraid that you will abandon them and leave them alone?
I am not exactly sure I understand your fear, unless you are afraid of losing the love so you push it away first so they can be the one to push first.
It is easy to not get hurt by love. Just don't love or let it in. There is always a risk when you open yourself up. There are no guarantees in life. So if you are looking for a promise that you will never be hurt again, it isn't going to happen.
