Yes!!! Great idea!! Wish I'd thought of it. What a neat feature for a dating site and (duh) so obvious it has to be a resounding success (wish I'd thought of it). The flower company stands to make a killing.

I've used the feature and I'm waiting for the recipient to tell me what she thinks. I'm curious what condition the flowers arrive in (hopefully not dead).

Many thanks.

Now I stand to go broke sending flowers to the many beautiful friends I've made on this site. Can't think of a better way to bankrupt myself though. Thank you. I've sent flowers to one woman on this site already and she wrote me back to thank me warmly. Waiting with curiosity now to see in what condition they arrive.

Notice all the women on this thread already trolling for flowers?

It seems to bring out the greedy & needy in people.

For the same money value, I wonder if the women here will be this excited if it is not FLOWERS. Be it be Books from a Book Store or a Food Basket from a Supermarket, I don't think women will jump up and down and say, "send me the Books, send me the Food". Readers here, it is because it is REAL FRESH FLOWERS that charm our soul and we love them. The women who are "trolling" for flowers show their love for flowers. If you think they are greedy and needy, so let it be, for you won't be the one who send them flowers.

If you have to ask for someone to send you flowers, is it really worth it???

I hardly think women would email men directly asking for flowers. Those who said they want flowers are having fun in the Forum, and the statements bring out the "little girl" inside them; so use you humor, at least that's what I determine to interrupt without a hair of negative thoughts.

hah this cracks me up , all this fuss about flowers, if someone wants to use this feature and send you flowers, they will, it will be sweet and you will be happy and blah blah blah so no need to post about how badly you want flowers! If it's that bad head to the grocery store and pick up a 10 dollar bunch for yourself already!
and about the whole "I thought POF was free" dealie, yes it is , free to join , free to msg , free to chat etc , all the important stuff, the flower sending thing is an *OPTION* (one of a few - email , message, IM etc) to contact someone or show them you are interested!
now where are my flowers damnit!?? (kidding, kidding!)

^^^exactly, this new feature is designed for the one who wants to use it, so why is such a big fuss. Now never mind the flowers, you are welcome to send me sour grapes instead.

Hi all, Markus said it was okay if I posted some replies regarding the new flower option. I work for the flower company and I am willing to try and give you a hand if you are having any problems or have any questions.

First, a quick blurb about our company. We have been online since 1996 selling Grower Fresh products and we are also a grower. The owners have been in the flower growing business for over 50 years in Canada and we have a number of specially selected grower fresh providers we have partnered with in the US as well.

We offer a variety of products:
Grower Fresh Flowers - delivered via an overnight courier in a gift box direct from the grower.
Florist Arranged Flowers - delivered via a local florist through a wire service
Gift Baskets and other Unique Gifts - delivered via an overnight or two day courier (in the US only at this time).

Here is a list of what is available to different countries.

US Deliveries
Grower Fresh Flowers, Florist Arranged Flowers, Gift Baskets, Unique Gifts

CAD Deliveries
Grower Fresh Flowers, Florist Arranged Flowers

International Deliveries
Florist Arranged Flowers only

For International Deliveries we do offer products to over 80 Countries around the world. The link for International

Deliveries is on the far right hand side of the top menu bar. As we are based in the US and Canada, International Deliveries do cost a bit more on average. They are all Florist Arranged and everything depends on average pricing in the Country you select.

Currently the system works as follows:
1. A sender clicks on a link to send another POF user flowers. Nothing is charged to the sender at this point although a estimated total is provided (taxes are not figured out till the order accepted).
2. The recipient receives an email letting them know that a gift has been purchased for them. You obviously don't have to accept or enter your information if you don't want the gift.
3. Once the gift is accepted, the senders' card is charged. At this time an email goes out to the sender letting them know their gift has been accepted and the final charge on the credit card.

Our Customer Service Center does not release any information on any orders in accordance with the PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection & Electronic Documents Act) as a standing practice. In addition, for POF users, recipient info is blanked out and a huge warning pops up when one of the orders is accessed, letting the operator know that NO information for either the sender or receiver is to be given out ~ ever. It would take a court order for any info to be released.

Credit Card Security: All online credit card collections are fully secure. We have 1024 bit public key encyption and have been verified as secure by Ambrion Trust Wave (one of the companies certified by the credit card companies to perform this service). A copy of the sercurity certificate we have received as well as details regarding this can be found under the security link on our web site. Credit Card companies have very strict guidelines that all online companies are required to follow these in order to continue doing business.

Hope this helps answer most of the questions. Sorry for the length. I will keep an eye out for awhile on this forum and try to answer any other questions. You can also message me directly and I will try and get back to you asap. I'm only logged in during business hours so please have patience with me!

Hi Everyone
This is my first posting all the way from down under. I noticed that the site is in the majority of USA and English ppl's

I think the flower sending idea is original and unique, however it does promote trollin for ppl to spend money and for girls to ask and like someone stated if you have to ask is it really worth it?

It was also stated that the sender fills in the information, can they fill in deceiving or manipulative information? Is this area open to abuse?

I think precautions would naturally be taken to stop the freedom of personal information bein able to be obtained and because the receiver has the choice whether or not to accept then that's cool too.

As a female I think it is better to receive flowers on a subsequent date rather than from a stranger off the net. It shows that the person is interested in me and that we have a connection. No matter how well you get along with someone in chatting on the net the reality is the biter and I would prefer that the gift meant somethin I would cherish.

As much as this idea is original and unique, I would prefer to pass thanx

Markus a personal note to you. I have only been a member for about 2 weeks, I have been on many other sites and have been a net dater for approx 2 years now. I would love to say kudo's on the idea of this site and standing ovation for not feeding financially off others that are lonely or here for whatever reason. I appreciate the time and the effort that you put into this place to make other's smile...and if i find that one that I'm looking for I will let you know that I smiled... and thanx for the welcome note...nice touch

To everyone else...don't sweat the small stuff...everythin comes together in the end

..so the way I imagine this working is, after two people have established some sort of initial contact through here, exchanged a few messages maybe, or even been out on a date or two..THEN perhaps if one or the other or both felt compelled they would send flowers. I don't envision someone sending flowers right off the bat, unless it's one of those random acts of senseless kindness (even then, it would be risky.. the person may be allergic or not even like flowers) ... although as has been intimated in a previous post an anonymous "secret admirer" sort of scenario may have romantic appeal to some senders and receivers (me included). ...

I'm kind of confused about this. Are you talking about REAL flowers that we have to PAY FOR to send to strangers??

Oh ok yeah msgs 182 and 184 were what I had in mind when I posted the secret admirer thing.

Flowers are a gift. They are not an investment in someone with the idea that they will pay a dividend in the future, nor are they given with the expectation of receiving something in return. They come with no strings attached, no obligations and no expectations of reciprocity or anything else.

A person gives flowers and usually the person who receives them knows why he or she got them, whatever the reason may be. Maybe the sender just likes to send flowers... maybe it's because the receiver is simply a nice person and flowers are a visual "thank you" for just about anything.

Wow. This is super cool, but now just add some ways to earn points that convert to money to send flowers and you got it made! LOL . People are cheap especially to strangers! The conversion ratio could be realllly low too LIKE 100pts equal 1 dollar and chat for an hour and get 5 pts, post in forum get 1point, refer people, search etc... You'd get alot of activity and the cheapees would be working darn hard to send their special someone a bouquet! LOLOLOL!

But I LOVE the real flowers option. I know who Im sending some to first. Once I get her to respond to me quicker. ;)

Oh and also it would help if the flower site itself had some $10 flower options on sale! LOLOL (and they could conceal the price to the receiver!) LOLOLOL. Some people would be feeling REALLY special when they get a couple of dozen from their admirers.

10 bux a pop aint bad. $30 is almost 2 hours pay.

Okay, I will try to answer this.

Yes, this are REAL flowers, because it is Real, you have to PAY FOR it.
Yet, because this is REAL flowers, it still doesn't mean you have to PAY FOR it, for it is just like shopping, you don't have to shop everything that is available in the store for you.
Strangers are in no guarantee that they Will receive flowers from their Strangers in here.
Likely the sender and the receiver would know each other. They both can define the word "strangers"...I mean after the flowers are sent and received.

I'm kind of curious about this. Are you thinking about IMAGE flowers that we don't have to PAY FOR to send to friends ??
