| Rush r@Wks Posted: 7/18/2008 8:12:43 AM | I love Rush, despite my uneasiness about Geddy's voice most of the time. Though being a drummer obviously cures that because Peart is one of the greatest, if not the greatest ever. All 3 musicians are so remarkably talented, it should leave any fellow musician in awe.

| Rush r@Wks Posted: 7/18/2008 10:53:09 AM | toons: "All The World's A Stage", was/is their best live album. ript:"Signals", was their last good album. ghost:What, only 16 favorite albums? There's gotta be 25!!!??? gary:"Xanadu", is from A Farewell To Kings, which no one answered. alien:UNDER-APPRECIATED? Fly By Night, is their second best album. That was their First big single. vine:HALLELULAH!!! Finally, after 25 posts, someone mentioned 2112! It's only their BEST album!!! Someone did quote;"The meek shall inherit the Earth"... But, since no one is familiar with 2112, it went without a hitch.
Hey, everyone has their own personal favorites.I understand. I'm not trying to come across as a snoot. But, 90% of you just know Rush after their big hit's came out, like;"Limelight","Tom Sawyer" and "Spirit Of Radio". Which is all well and good. I'm just taken aback by self-proclaimed Rush fans who aren't familiar with/or can't appreciate their Early Years. Please forgive me, I get so caught up in the,"Limelight". I let my passion and my compassion for the greatest power trio ever to get the best of me.If you like,"Something For Nothing" (not literally, figureatively) then you know where I'm coming from. It's called lust... 1.) 2112 2.) Fly By Night 3.) Hemispheres 4.) A Farewell To Kings 5.) Moving Pictures "My ship isn't coming, and I just can't pretend"... PEACE

| Rush r@Wks Posted: 3/25/2009 9:24:43 AM | | I really like some of their old stuff ....songs like "In The End","Here Again" and of course"Working Man".I guess you tend to go back to the music that played a big part in your life and usually that's in your teens.I would still like to see them again(seen them three times, last time '87)but it's been over twenty years since they have played in my part of the world.Oh well, fingers crossed. | |

| Rush r@Wks Posted: 3/25/2009 9:51:26 AM | Among the many things that drive me nuts is his self-proclaimed expertise on all matters of economics. The man is a college drop-out, and gets a feature length in Time on the economy.
I studied really hard, took lots of advanced math, computer science, and economics to graduate with honors with a degree in applied mathematical economics.
I can calculate SDs in my head and derive isoquants, but HE's der experte.
And... He's simply wrong. From his assumptions to his conclusions, the drop-put is wrong.
Obama and Geithner are wrong too, but that's an opinion. Bright economists can differ, but none support Rushianomics.

| Rush r@Wks Posted: 3/25/2009 10:25:12 AM | 70's Rush is the only Rush I really like. Whenever I see a live dvd of theirs I'll look to see how much 70's material is on it to determine whether it's worth it or not.
2112, Hemispheres, La Villa, Cygnus, Freewill, Xanadu... lots of good stuff from that decade !!!
|
| Rush r@Wks Posted: 3/25/2009 6:50:34 PM | My sincerest apologies. My mind's been on econ analyses recently.
Indeed they do. Got into them when I'm like 11? Tom Sawyer. Despite how my main focus of music changed from that type, they've always held a place in my heart, and at a jukebox, given the 10 or 12 choices my US$5.00 will give me, one choice will always be "Distant Early Warning". "Trees" would be choice too. See, economics even influences my music :-)

| Rush r@Wks Posted: 3/26/2009 5:55:46 AM | Rush r@Wks! Lifeson said the band will head back into the studio later this year.
| |
|
| Rush r@Wks Posted: 4/4/2009 5:34:33 PM | | John Rutsy left the band early on due to illness. Sadly, He passed away about a year or so ago. | |
|
| Rush r@Wks Posted: 4/6/2009 10:36:27 AM | For 3 men to create such lyrics and melodies? Well that's just amazing right there
And Neal Pert is by far the second best drummer to ever grace this earth!
|
| Rush r@Wks Posted: 4/6/2009 6:30:07 PM | | Second best?? By chance, Who is the first?? | |
|
| Rush r@Wks Posted: 4/6/2009 10:46:09 PM | 1.Neil Peart 2.Neil Peart 3.Neil Peart 4. who ever everybody else is | |

| Rush r@Wks Posted: 4/7/2009 5:47:30 AM | robh2008: Well..................JON BONHAM........... OF COURSE | |
|
| Rush r@Wks Posted: 4/7/2009 3:22:09 PM | Bonham was a good drummer in his time... Definately progressive for Zeppelin and the times.... But Neil Peart is probably the most progressive drummer alive today. His timing, power and the riffs he has written over the years are second to none... | |
|
| Rush r@Wks Posted: 4/7/2009 3:27:23 PM | And for the record, I love zep almost as much as Rush.... Growing up in a musical family all my life, Rush and Geddy/Niel were the reason I started playing bass..... There arent too many band mates that are that tight..... musically speaking | |

1.Neil Peart 2.Neil Peart 3.Neil Peart 4. who ever everybody else is
Buddy Rich Buddy Rich Buddy Rich
Even Peart worships at the shrine of Buddy Rich.
|
| Rush r@Wks Posted: 4/8/2009 4:42:47 AM | Everyones gotta worship someone ,so if Peart worships Rich , then Rich must be OK.
LOL just kidding Rich is a god!
I fondly remember as an eight year old kid from Canada first listening to Rush on vinyl, played on a krappy phonograph-they captivated my imagination-in a good way
Vive Le Rush!

|
| Rush r@Wks Posted: 5/2/2009 12:53:05 PM | | It's criminal they have not been inducted into the Rock Hall. When induction ideas come up, these guys are among the first to pop into my head. Seen them live a few times, all were great shows. "Limelight" & "Spirit of Radio" are favorites, also "Working Man," one of the greatest guitar intro riffs ever! | |
|
| Rush r@Wks Posted: 6/20/2009 7:45:37 PM | | Rush is amazing. I wish I was old enough to see them in the early 80s when they were regarded as being at their peak. | |

| All The World's a Stage (Massey Hall Live) Posted: 6/21/2009 12:13:53 AM | No other Rush album compares to the sound on All the World's a Stage (recorded live at Massey Hall).
Lifeson's guitar sound is so "thick" on that recording it's incredible ! .. And it was a REAL heavy metal sound, not the tinny / super trebly sound he had at the recent concert here at Downsview Park in Toronto.
Geddy's bass sounds like hugely amplified piano strings ! (the low end strings) !
And of course Peart's drums are also awesome on that recording.
Listening to the "studio version" albums of those songs (2112, Bytor& Snowdog, In The End, Working Man), sounds like listening to a cheap A.M. radio.
If you haven't heard A.T.W.a.S., run to your nearest record .. uh CD store !
I've worn out / lost 3 copies of it, and have to go buy another one !
