Hey Sounds like a plan, It's too bad that some people in this forum are so demanding as to when where and how the weather is going to be ....RELAX!!
Enjoy life dont worry about the finer details, bring a cooler, a phone, a sleeping bag and 20 bucks for a cab and you're all set, in terms of weather.....heck if its muddy its muddy..drink more and you won't notice!
HAHAHA
And thankyou Sir James for the invite
My house is in the country in Embro, so it would be nice to have one out here sometime too!
6 bedroom house, lots of land, 2 4 wheelers and lots of wood and single girls from Western University! LOL LOL 3 single girls...what more could you ask for!

If your comments were directed towards me let me state something.

First of all, I started this topic because I felt it was important to have a FUN get together that was different from what most other get togethers have been in the past. There are a lot of other folks, besides myself that are not very comfortable in a bar enviroment. I wanted something different and I don't feel that makes me demanding. I want to be able to hang out, chat and not feel pressured to be drinking. I just want to have a good time.

In the past, I have been to get togethers that have been held at bars, etc, and I am aware of the pros / cons of it. The whole reason I started this topic was to have something different - if you insist on calling that demanding so be it.

As for being concerned for the weather, to be blunt, I think asking if the property is dry enough at this time of year is only a practical question to ask. I have never been to Sir James property and I am unaware of the layout. All I know is that my backyard is currently a big mudpile. I step outside in my yard and my shoes go in 2 centimeters deep. Ugh. I feel it is REASONABLE to know if it will be dry enough or not at his place. Under no circumstances were my questions to Sir James meant as an insult or an attack. I am sure I am not the only one who wants to have a good time too. I want this to be a good event. Theres no rush to have an event so to me it really doesn't matter if its now or in the summer. Sir James had suggested a few different dates. I was just wondering out loud if one of the later dates might be more practical - thats ALL. I only want everyone to have a good time (including me). Under no circumstances was I insulting Sir James and if you took it that way, then I am sorry. My only concern was that this be a GOOD EVENT.

To me, it just seems that you have missed the purpose of me suggesting a get together. Of course I am concerned where a party will be. As previously stated it is IMPORTANT to me that it is somewhere that ANYONE can access without a car. I feel it is important that everyone be able to come and go as they please. I don't want to rely on strangers to drive me back and forth, especially out of town. Been there done that and as a single woman I feel it is important that I make sure I have an easy way of accessing any get together I attend. I also want to be able to leave when I wish. Once again I am sorry if you find this too demanding. As I have stated before, I feel it is important to have a get together in LONDON cause $20 certainly wont cover cab fare out of town (heck I dont think $20 would even cover me getting to Sir James house). Also as I have stated before I thought it would be an excellent idea to do BOTH. I have never said having a party at your place wouldn't be a cool idea. I think it would be great for you to host a party at your home in Embro but that it was not a party I was interested in due to lack of transportation for myself. Just to be clear, that was not an insult to you. Just a matter to me of what is practical and what isn't. I still encourage you to host a party. Its just not one that I am trying to organize. I am trying to host a LONDON party - in other words in London.

So in closing to anyone out there who thinks its "too bad" that I am trying to organize a successful event I'm sorry if my methods bother you. I was hoping to avoid any unnecessary hiccups. I am used to organizing large events (due to my employment history). The questions / concerns I have raised are the same I that I would raise at any potential event I was trying to organize. My only goal was for everyone to have a BLAST.

Sir James, although I haven't had a chance to contact you directly, I want you to know that I am sincerely grateful for your offer. It really means a lot to me that you've opened your home to all of us. Since this was my idea its been my intentions to contact you and arrange to help you with everything, be it financial costs (if there is any) and organization. I've been so busy with personal matters in the past few weeks I haven't had a chance to do so. What little time I have had, I have been spending passing the news of us having a get together. I just want you to know that I am grateful. I really hope that you have not felt attacked by me asking questions. My only goal was to help organize a successful event.

I would also like to thank everyone else who has shown SUPPORT in helping brainstorm for this event. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Allison

Well if anyone was trying to insult me they have to be really really blunt as I usually don't get most innuendos. Either I'm real lucky that way or I've greatly infalted my IQ level.
Seriously I don't get insulted easily.
My place is very dry as it is on a slight hill with a creek at the bottom. Now if you want to walk to the creek all bets are off. It's very dry right now. I've already had 2 bonfires this spring
As for distance I'll give away a hint of where I live. If you can get to Bellamere Farm Market on Gainsborough Rd just west of Hyde Park Rd. you have VERY little farther to go.
A $20 cab fare will get you to at least Adelaide and Dundas. Buses are a 10 to 15 min walk. and there are now sidewalks 2 minutes away Ok maybe 4
I'd also like to check out the Embro party if and when they get it going. 3 hot university chicks! Yeah I'm there. It's just my body thats this old, I can't put an age on my mind!
Financial Costs? Hmm hadn't thought of that one. Tell you what. If someone brings a tank of propane and some hotdogs or hamburgers and buns and maybe a few beers for me and we'll call it even OK?
As an aside I'm going to have a bonfire that night rain or shine anyways so if your out and about come on by.
Anyone can email me if they have any questions they don't want to see on the forum

P.S You can't see the fire from the road. actual address will be on the 25th

One thing I'd like to add is this...

The great thing with having it here at your place Sir James, is that worst case senerio, folks could walk home, bus home or even taxi home - sure I wouldn't want to walk it but still its doable.

I know personally, i am uncomfortable having to rely on a stranger driving me home.

Brings back bad flashbacks to my university days getting stuck at some country party with no way home - since then I have learned that its best to make sure that i hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. Nothing worse than going to a party on a blind date, finding out your date is a creep and then having no way home. Been there, done that. Since then, I always make sure I have a back up exit plan. Better safe than sorry.

I've been encouraged by many guys in my city to check out the scene in London. They have nothing but nice things to say about the people of London.

If I find someone to travel with, I'll be there.

I'll bring you a beer sir james - What kind?
What would like Miss Allison?
