What does eating tofu have to do with one's quality of character??? ...strange.

As for other negative qualities, I've done a fair bit of traveling and I think it's unfair to apply such stereotypes to the women of California, or any other state for that matter. Really big cities in every state and around the world have their share of selfish people but they also have a lot of really nice, giving, smart, caring, good women too.

Maybe you need to pay more attention to the good people you want to meet and less to the bad ones you don't. Both kinds are everywhere.

Besides, prejudice is not an attractive quality.

Saw that other thread out there so I decided to make a parody.
California women are regarded as being gold-digging, tofu eating, self centered, and shallow than other women in the country (feel free to add stereotypes of your own).

Well, lesseeeeee here.....I was born in Brooklyn, lived in Nicaragua, landed in L.A....so I guess that makes me: Rude, Radical, and Redundant....

Wow, I completely missed this thread ::laughing:: well, rather I didn't see it before.

I have had a fairly succesful life, I own a home, have a double major out of Cal and a Masters out of UCLA (no loans, no debt, paid mostly cash while at Uni). Besides a mortgage and general household costs I have whatever debt is on my gas card this month. Overall, doing fairly well.

I own a big stupid plasma TV, paid cash for that too.

I am divorced (long since) and am good friends with my ex wife, who never received alimony and I have primary custody of our child, so she never got child support. Not that I was opposed to paying either, but I wanted primary custody, and we were not married long enough for her to get much of anything in alimony (and honestly, I bribed her to cooperate, I paid for her to complete university if she would not rake me over the coals in court).

I have met a few gold diggers, in my career field we are a bit of a target so it is natural, but the grand majority of women I have met are fairly nice and reasonable in their own fashion, I don't necessarily want to have a life-long commitment with any of them, but it does not make them bad people, just ones I am not interested in committing to.

I have lived primarily in california most of my life, granted I am an immigrant and spent my childhood in my birth country.

So what does my story do to the blanket claims.

Most the people have been saying "most women" or "All women" and you know what, I just personally blew those numbers out of the water. I am friends with/dated/whatever a few thousand women in my life, and of them all I know maybe 3 gold diggers. there goes the "most" and definately takes out the claim for "all women"

I know 2 people that regularly eat tofu out of the thousands I know. BOOM there goes another blanket claim.

What does it all have to say?

If you are really pissed off, you need to calm down before inserting your foot into your mouth.

Yes, there are bad people out there.
NO, they are not all out to get you.

California born and raised. I was raised equally in SoCal and NorCal. Southern Cali has Hollywood lifestyle and LA nightlife. Northern Cali has the Oakland Hills and Marin County (enough said). Of course these are only sterotypes, but I'd also add:

Plastic, bleached, not too swift, rude, opportunist, superficial....

But again, these are only stereotypes. The vast majority of California women are NOT any of these things. It's them mid-west girls, posing as Californians, looking to do what it takes to make it out here; in hopes of striking gold Another sterotype....

What about the self-centered, gold digging, shallow men? Unfortuantely for me, I have an education and make good money and (made the poor choice) have gotten stuck with 2 men who were more interested in their needs, wants, etc than they were in taking care of mine. I supported them both, along with 2 kids.... Can't honestly say WOMAN ONLY are that way. Put them both to the curb.

I have met some nice guys on this site and some real pieces of work... the guy I like the most I actually met entirely by chance at the dog beach. Does this site work? Depends on what your looking for and what you expect to get out of the experience. (The 2nd piece of work I met on this site... doesn't bode well at all...)

Geez I am a Cali native and am not a gold digger. I however think that far too many of the men here are metrosexual.

I can't believe how much I hate threads like this. And right now on the board, we have three in a row, all ragging on and making sweeping generalizations against ALL Cali women, Cali men, and "bad" girls.

Sheesh, people. When do we get away from the "poor me- it's all THEIR fault" (no matter who THEY are)?

We live in what is arguably the most beautiful, opportunity-filled, and FRIENDLY state in the nation. There are MILLIONS of single people in this state, of all ages and genders and intentions, and the majority of them are honest and real. What exactly is the problem???

My favorite was the girl who said native California girls are great, it's those b itches from the midwest that come in and screw up everything for the rest of us. Puh-lease.

Look around you. The very thing that makes our state so special is that we are a wonderful and exciting mixture of people from EVERYWHERE. How many people do you know that are actually native? We have gold diggers and bad boys and soccer moms and tree huggers and SUV drivers and posers and honest-to-God decent people and single parents and starlets and losers and body builders and CEOs with hearts of gold and EVERYBODY knows someone famous and nobody really cares because we know we are all PEOPLE.

I am native. Born, raised, and living all my life in California. I am not blonde, I don't have a tan, and I am not a gold digger.

Oh, and by the way? It does rain here...

I moved here from the East Coast when I was twelve. I drive an SUV and an economy car. I have been known to hug a tree once in a while. I was once a starlet. I am called a soccer mom although none of my children have ever been played soccer. I have dated unemployed surfers and IT guys and smog checkers and actors and big-time producers and salt-of-the-earth hippies and high-end contractors and almost-famous musicians.

Who gives a flying f***?

What it comes down to in the end is that you end up with a person in which YOU see quality, and they see quality in you.

I just don't see how where we live has anything to do with it.

The only thing I see in Women these days is fact....! Any Myth about them is in yesteryear.... as they are evolving each and every day...... a very large percentage of Men just do not know anymore then they did before, how to keep up.

Without them, oh woe is this world.

I had a friend from Boston that was very worried about that. Just who made up such an incredibly stupid rule?

Good one Cap! Am also grateful that I have currently have nothing in my mouth that can come out my nose.

I only wear white with black, otherwise I feel like a bride or an angel and we can't have that.

^^^ As soon as you tell me I can't do something, then that's exactly what I am going to want to do.

There is some crazy Back East logic that goes along with this practice. It's right up the with Cotillion Balls, Coming Out Parties, and joining the Junior Women's League.

Oh but you could consider purchasing a new one. A girl never knows when she may need one, and waders too. Especially around here.

OT- Alot of women are shallow, conceited, money grubbing biotches, but not all of us are.

^^^ Wow. How utterly charming.

Best of luck with your "hooking up with girls from other countries" plan. I hope they welcome you with open arms when you move overseas.
