When she complained about the toilet seat, is it over ?.
Posted: 10/17/2006 1:24:11 PM
Having to deal with a seat "up" has never bothered me ...
........ but maybe because I choose to view it other than a lot of women ...

It reminds me that there is a man in my life ...
........ and then I just can't be bothered with feeling any disdain for that!!!.

If a woman has such a problem with the toilet, think of everything else she has to nitpick about.
Nah ... no nitpicking coming from me ...
That's too much like nagging and I just don't have the desire, the time, or the energy for that.

Well you have to give them credit for at least putting it up, nothing worse than a man that leaves it down and pee's all over the seat. I've always said "If it's that short, sit down to pee" LMAO

the solution here could of been his and her bathrooms, if being courteous to one another isn't an important part of maintaining your relationship. I have a feeling they would of found something else to **** about....like would you please replace the toilet roll tissue if there is only one or two sheets left on the roll...

Down is important!!

Once, trying to save my marrige, I purchased expensive relationship tapes thought the TV show - there was three very important matters listed and the toiled seat was one of them!

You can not go wrong by putting the toilet seat down

If a lady likes you she will not care that you leave the seat up. Even if you have a dirty bathroom, if she likes you and wants you. She will actually clean it and buy you nice things to make it pretty.

And even if they don't, is it not common sense to "use your hand to quickly see if the lid is down?

I mean the blind do it, duh.

Quite frankly it's not my fault if someone falls into the toilet at night.I don't just randomly start pissing in the dark without first checking to make sure the lid is "UP."

dont mean to be a traitor to my gender, but thats a damn good point. Exactly. Take responsibiity for the preparing as well as utlising the recepticle for your own bodily administrations any time of the day or night. Think yourself lucky we are not in the day of outhouses............ : )

that there is a SEAT and a LID, and if I have to lift and lower, SHE CAN TOO !

No she can't...that would require work and that's what men are for. Maybe she's old fashioned. That's code for doing things her way.

Geez, I'd hate to see if you had a more serious argument.....

It's just the frickin toilet seat. It's one of those day to day arguments that one doesn't even think about at the end of the day.

I keep the seat down because when you flush with it up, you are releasing particles of dirty toilet water into the air. If your toiletries are near the toilet, well, ick. So I have to lift the seat too when I go.

However you may want the seat, keep it consistent so that when you are half asleep you know whether to lift and put down. :)

Can't comment on whether it was the beginning of the end but would like to say that some woman just like to complain (as do some men) and this is an easy thing to complain about. I need it up, you need it down! If you put it up for me, I'll put it down for you OR we can both just look to see whether it needs to be put up or down when we use it and quit b*tching!

It isn't the toilet seat that's the problem.

It is the anger issues that need to be addressed.

The toilet seat issue should be part of all wedding vows from this day forth.

OP the clearest way to avoid this entire issue is to simply forego the toilet all together. Simply put in a Urinal instead. Trust me, when she sees how firm and strong her calves, thighs, and backside get from having to hover and squat instead of sit, she will love you all the more for it.

Have fun ;)!

Somehow I have never heard of a man 'falling in' because he left the seat up. I always look where I am about to sit whether it be a toilet or a chair. Even having lived solo for a long time I put the seat down at another's home.

Once I was yelled at as I was going #1 to make sure I put the seat down. This must have been a leftover from a previous man or maybe a son. Her tone irked me, rather shrill, and made me feel like I should get used to petty barking. So I did this: When I finished my biz I zipped up, put the seat down, washed my hands and before I dried them I shook off the excess water on the seat.

I'd be a lot more concerned about not hearing hand washing after someone uses the water closet.

Solve the problem. Sit down to pee. Where is it written that a man must stand to urinate? It would end the fights about toilet seats. Putting the toilet seat down is a simple thing called courtesy. It has nothing to do with the decline of a relationship. Only a symbol of a power struggle which can end a relationship.

WHAT is up with men who leave the seat up??
They can build houses, make planes, discuss world poverty, make millions of bucks... but God forbid they should move their arm 10 inches to PUT THE TOILET SEAT DOWN!!!
It's common courtesy, JUST LEAVE THE TOILET SEAT THE WAY YOU FOUND IT!!!!

I wish my relationship problems were this simple...

*sigh*

Seat's up and you want it down? Or vice versa? Use your hand. Takes a fraction of a second...

Yeah, it's probably why you are still single...if winning a pissing contest (forgive the pun) was more important than having her in your life, then YOU WIN!

And FYI recent studies have shown that it's best to put both seat and lid DOWN before flushing, because flushing with the lid up flings all kinds of lovely bacteria into the air, which you are breathing.

^^^^I agree, maybe I'm different but I always sit down to take a pee, saves a lot of splashing.

I have never had the complaint about the toilet seat but I am having minor problems with the shower. My current girlfriend always leaves the knob turned up that seperates the water from the shower and the bath tub and I always forget to look, therefore getting a stream of cold water down my back.. I have never said anything because I could just as easily look before and I should of learned my lesson by now but being single for twelve years I have learned doing things my way.. No big deal, because she does everything else so good and I would feel picky or uptight to complain. I try to compliment on the things she does well and not always look for what she doesn't as I make mistakes as well. If the toilet seat is that big of a deal I would think their is more going on.

Maybe you should get yourself one of them Japanese high-tech Auto-Flushing Auto-closing Toilets

Seriously though, I think what the OP is saying might be about how after a while you get settled and comfortable into a relationship and sometimes one or both people may began to annoy each other over dumb miniscule things. First the toilet seat, next not putting enough salt on the food, etc. etc.

During those times maybe one just needs to take a break away and read a book on your own time or something. You don't want to break up over things like that. These days here in the US, people seem to break up for the dumbest most smallest things sometimes and don't talk/communicate well.
