He pulled into our carpark one day with a baby pink VL Commodore and we all looked at who was getting out of it. It was my workmate and he had rustproofed the car but ran out of paint so mixed it with normal wall undercoat (I never once thought about getting a car off him).
Or the other one was the rainbox mobile - we had been working alot of O/T with 18 hour shifts standard - only to have him com to work one day with a car with every different coloured panel possible (had not be been stripped and resprayed yet due to our work load). Eventually he got rid of it all and kept 3 show cars before getting married and being told he was only allowed to have 1 - his Brock Commodore.

It loved to rust, guzzled petrol, handled like a bucket of puss but was good fun on dirt roads. At 250,000 km I got rid of it after I'd hurt it like this: Local B&S Ball, rainy night, crissed-as-a-picket, slept in car, up for Rum/bacon/eggs breakfast, say hooroo and get car bogged. Wake up another drunk to help me push it out. Engage reverse and get wheels spinning with choke half on, open the door and push on B pillar while steering car through gap between post and another car. Didn't realise the post grazing past my shoulder would take out the open door behind me (oooh-ahh).
I said "oh dear", or words to that effect.

| What was the first car you ever owned. Posted: 6/24/2007 12:54:44 AM | My first car was ford laser a Blue 1982 model it went the distance for about 12 years. The mileage on the car was 340,000 km, it served me well and it was tough bugger for all the crap I put it through.
It died on me in ther middle of a busy intersection which could of been the worst place to crap it self. My current car that I have has quite a few mod cons on it, which I have grown to appreaciated and love. Particularly the air condition which is essential in the hot weather that QLD sometimes have in the summer season.

Artie
1974 Chevy Nova
Red, with rust accents
Bought it for $400, drove it for a year and a half. In that time I replaced a fan belt and a $29 muffler and drove it into a river (not my fault, really, the road collapsed). Once it was hauled out of the river I restarted it within about an hour.
Sold it for $600. Not too bad I think....

Only one colour - black. Shared my husband's first car in 1965 - an FJ ute with canopy after our fifth child arrived. He worked 3 jobs to pay for it. MY first car - *sigh* a small rear-window Volksy painted mid blue with a straw broom over layers of bog. First off at the lights in Melbourne but a little slower getting into top - until it began stopping in the middle of intersections. Ah to have her still.
