1963 Chevy 2 with a 283 in it...that baby could fly...only good in the 1/4 mile though
a year later:
1970 Ford Torino with a 429, bought at auction in 1974...it had been an undercover police car, was built high performance right off the assembly line for that purpose...my only Ford ever...
...and don't even get me started on the rest, I was considered a 'piston head' in my day, lol (muscle car lover)
I could just about cry when I see what some of these cars are worth today! Oh, to only have kept one of them (probably my 2dr 69 Malibu SS/396....*sigh*)

Bought another body, transferred the engine with my dad and was off and running again. The memories created from having that car *sigh*. Finally sold it when the o/s travel bug bit. | |

I think the gene just showed up with my hormones when they kicked in, or could it be because those were the cars everyone was driving when I was a teenager? Barracudas, Dodge Dart Swingers, AMX, Challengers, Mustangs, Novas, Chevelles, etcetera. I'm an old gal, don't forget, lol.

on a side note, I miss the days when you could put $5 of gas in your car for the week ( @ $0.38 per gallon)... even more than the cars, I think, although their mpg was horrid by todays standards. (Torino was 6/city - 9/HWY)...yikes! | |

Posted: 3/17/2008 4:42:14 AM | | Mine was a white Escort panel van. I was young, active, I had my first wings. I was an asthma kid, suddenly I could go fast and stay out all nite in my wonderful van. I called her Kaboobie, after the flying camel in Shazam (cartoon). I painted the golden breed symbol across the back doors in turquoise. She was decked out with camping gear, and a total shit box, constantly breaking down. She also doubled as a shaggin wagon on occasions!! I spent 1/2 my income each week trying to keep her going!! Eventually mum burned her in a bonfire on the farm... while I was in Brisbane, 2 hours away!!! | |
