People who are lonely and seeking love can be very open to heartless people playing with your low self esteem and openess to being overtaken. i seen it done from a son-in-law to his in-laws ..
bottom line is .. it can be for anything ..
such helping them out of debt (profit making cons) gotta run

| They aren't kidding...be careful ladies Posted: 10/17/2006 4:40:06 PM | | I remember a woman posting a thread about him being a con man..he kept changing his name and taking off his pics. He even deleted his profile and reposted without pics. It was interesting to watch until admin deleted him for good. | |

| They aren't kidding...be careful ladies Posted: 10/17/2006 4:55:20 PM | I don't think it was cool for them to mention the site name like that ... The Fishmaster has signs up all over "DO NOT GIVE MONEY" to people ..
Who gives away money like that anyway? $20,000+ each. "Moreon" is a good choice of word.

| They aren't kidding...be careful ladies Posted: 10/17/2006 4:58:31 PM | Good thread NacarFan. Guess , it is a wake up call to all people seeking love on any dating websites that we should be cautious and watch out being conn.
@ Da69devil, I know what you mean. It happened to my friend's kids. His son & daughter found their " LOve one " from their church. Just before the weddings, both kids ' fiancee' disappeared and weddings were call off. Money was gone with their fiancee' .. sad eh

| They aren't kidding...be careful ladies Posted: 10/17/2006 6:09:55 PM | I work hard for my money, and it will forever stay in my pocket. I think that in the country that we live in, there is always a means to get cash legitimately. If he is that hard up for money ladies...tell him to get a paper route. | |

| They aren't kidding...be careful ladies Posted: 10/17/2006 6:32:12 PM | I think "dadevil69" has a very good point. This guy seemed good at patiently waiting for his marks to trust him. I don't get the sense that people were dishing out money immediately.
I'm also glad POF came up in the news item, just makes you feel more warned than if it had happened on some singles' site.

| They aren't kidding...be careful ladies Posted: 10/17/2006 7:47:54 PM | The things we give away just because we think or so called mate loves them ! Yep I know this is one darn nasty trick to pull on someone finances let alone to someones heart. Just to think you feel you've found that love of your life and then end up broke in more ways then just your heart!! Yep nasty lession to wake up too for anyone who gets taken in these types of scams . But a red alarm light should go off in everyones mind if someone your dating asking for money thats time to say sorry I don't loan or give my money away to anyone unless they are married to me or family members. And if they disappear because you won't loan them money count your lucky stars thats all that happens.Cause those who are more interested in what you have in the bank are not worth the interest on a sears discount coupon !! And yeah its not just guys who get scamed in these ways but women too ! So yep if they seem more interested in your money then kick em out the door with mega boot interest ! | |

| They aren't kidding...be careful ladies Posted: 10/17/2006 7:47:54 PM | I would hate to think that this type of thing will forever cause us to NOT help anyone who truly needs the help.... sure, we need to be cautious, no doubt we need to make sure it's legit. These types of things absolutely make us jaded......
However.....
If anyone ever does feel the need to help a "friend" with a financial matter, never EVER hand over the cash to that person directly. As a rule of thumb, they will make up some elaborate story to get the money into thier own hands, as was seen in the article, but if you insist on helping, make sure you pay any funds DIRECTLY to those to whom it is owed, on your "friend's" behalf ..... problem solved. He or she will either start back peddling or run for the hills cuz they've been found out if in fact it is a scam!
I feel bad for these women who thought they had a trustworthy man in their arms but I truly hope it won't stop them from being the good people we all are inside.
Just my .02 cents. | |

I couldn't even imagine asking to borrow that much money from someone...unless I'm sitting in a bank manager's office just before they laugh me right out of the bank!
