| Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope Posted: 6/20/2007 3:22:03 AM | On the attact of liberty, you are wrong again he plaining stated he was against the patriot act, even before he was elected to the Senate (again re-check your facts), and as for the a national healthcare system, again he is totaly for a national healthcare system and he even gave some details on how this can be acheived, although they were not in depth. Let us understand this the whole election season has started early so there for you cannot pull all your cards out in the beganing.
And as for Isreal, i really do not know his position, but like many of Americans no one knows their position on Isreal. America is like alot of other countries in this feeling alot of guilt about how our inactions and ethnis racism effected our decision to not do anything about this. Funny though that you would bring this up, where is England and the rest of Europe on the totalchaos that colonialism has done to the continent of Africa. Lets be honest here those European counries that colonized Africa raped that continent and while it was convient for those countries they continued to do it. They took and took out of that continent and just to be fair America got in on it. But where are those countries now? So fraud and crook is not a word i would use to describe any politician who dares to try and change the word. And yes i belive and alot of other people belive Obama is America's best chance in repair our relationship with the world. Now please lets realy reserch the facts before you coment on anyone's post. I do enjoy teh honest and frank descusions but you cannot do it if all you rely on is second hand info, thats how we got George i want to be king Bush.

| Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope Posted: 6/20/2007 3:50:11 AM | He opposed the Iraq war because it was illegal and went against international laws, and it went against all common sense, i mean we invaded a country of 69 million, with 28 million controling power for well over 5o years, then teh 41 million suddenly gets control of power, money and weapons, and they are supposed to be civilized, come on.
and just to let you know i have met the man and i have litsened to what hye has to say, and i think iam a pretty good judge of peoples intent, and i believe taht this man does want to acheive good things and be a great leader for this country. Now may i ask you this what gives you the right to critize anyone who runs for office in this country where clearly England the farther of western modern civilization has fallen down on moral and peaceful solutions to the words problems. Now again can we move away from this subject unless you can say something with facts and state your facts. Cause i can.

| Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope Posted: 6/21/2007 11:46:01 AM | | "Wow...Obama he been my guy since I saw the keynote speech he gave at the Dem. Convention in '04"...Same here with me!.....That speech was electrifying,I sat on the sofa mesmerized by him....I felt hope for the first time that maybe moderates could see his appeal and strong reasoning...He is such a brilliant speaker...Clear headed and such a unifier of people.... A good business man as well as a caring humanitarian.....Like Montreal Guy says, I hope he can withstand temptation to sell out to corporate America and the right wingers and stay true to his course...Its going to be exciting to see what happens with him in 08 | |

| Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope Posted: 6/21/2007 3:27:02 PM | I'm not so sure yet. I held out hope for him when he was an up and coming rising star, but I fear that that the DLC (Democratic Leadership Council) is molding him for policies that I can't agree with, ex., neo-liberal exploitation of workers on foreign soil and more exportation of jobs overseas - for the benefit of the almighty corporation.
Maybe I'm wrong and I certainly hope so ... but there have been moments where I've seen that he may be going that route.

| Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope Posted: 6/21/2007 6:59:24 PM | No blackprince you check youre facts. Neither of the Democrat candidates have said they are going to change anything in the Patriot Act-Obama was criticised in the New York Times And left-wing paper the Nation precisely because he REFUSED to give a policy committment.on this because of his cowardice when it comes to the big issues. He also refused to answer questions several times in a magazine interview on the "taboo issue"of a national-healthcare system, the issue no U.S politician will touch because they wopuld lose the support of the pharmaceutical companies and private-insurance firms who oppose it even though, polls show, most Americans support the idea of a national healthcare system. They arent going to get one, or anything like it under Obama. Dont believe me?-then see if he changes a damn thing if he does get into power. He wont change anything to make healthcare freely available, the disgraceful current sytem will continue under an Obama administration. I guarantee it. Just like more people actually got poorer under Clinton despite his promises to the contrary. I don't rely on second-ahnd information-I have read left-wing columnists and many polciial writers and analysts much better-nformed than you wroting about Obama. And they are all profoundly dissapointed in his lack of substance and courage. And Blackprince, you are totally wrong about rape and abortion, you got the issue confused. Iwas talkin about partial-birth abortion. Not abortion in general. And partial-birth abortion is NEVER carried out because of rape-it would make no sense for it to be left that late. And I did not "over-blow" the issue-to say that displays a contempt for human life on youre part. This is a very important issue. 2'000 nearly-born babies were killed by partial-birth abortion in one year-( a small figure?) but that is 2'000 human beings. So i am not "over-blowing" the issue. Obama is a disgraceful hypocrite that he does not stand up for human life in the womb (even a partially-born child)-but pretends to be concerned about human life in Iraq. And NO child is killed at partial-birth because of "handicaps" So check youre facts. Obama said he OPPOSED the Supreme Court ban on partial-birth abortion (I have the quote if you want it) even though that ban INCLUDED AN EXEMPTION if the mothers life is at risk. So if he opposes partial-birth abortion as anyone humane, does it makes no sense that he said he opposes a ban-that includes an exception if the mothers life is at risk. And it is nonsesne to say it is "not youre place" to say partial-birth murder is wrong-let us get this straight. At partial-birth athere is no controversy that a child is a fully-developed human being-so partial-birth abortion is murdering a human being. So yes it is youre place to say that is wrong, just as it is youre place to say murder is wrong, for man or woman (i am talkiin specifically about partial-birth abortion here) . And i honestly cannot believe you have just posted that abortion is O.K if a child could grow up to be handi-capped. That is uterly disgraceful, Blackprince. Ask yourself how many handicapped children have gone on to succeeed in life and achieve great things despite their condition? They are as much human beiongs as you or I-and NO-ONE has the right to decide for a handicapped baby, whether it should live or die. Not a woman. And not a man. No-one should have that right. Ask yourself- of all the handicapped people who have gone on to become writers and lawyers and busionessmen and even those who managed small achievements in life-how many of them would turn around and say-you should have aborted me before birth? Not one. What human being has the right to decide for another human being, whether his or her quaity of life is going to be good enough to let them live or to kill them in advance?No-one has the right to decide for another human whether or not they should be allowed to live because they are handicapped. That is utterly despicable-human are such a beautiful race precisely because we are so diverse, we are not all perfect some of us have disabilites , and achieve great things despite them, and indeed because of those disabilites whioch motivate us to succeed against the odds, but to hear you suggest it is somehow "compasssionate" to kill an unborn child because he might grow up disabled or handicapped is frankly an insult to human dignity. And there are many things that can be done to help handicapped people have a better quality of life, not ideal-but certainly better than giving humans the power to take away another humans life. I suspected you were pro-abortion,I am, by the way, anti- abortion at ALL stages of human life- (unless the mothers life is at risk)and I would love to debate abortion, as a whole, with you but this isn't the thread to do it. But Obama had a chance to show he was humane (and agreed with the majority of the American population who supported the Supreme Court ban) but he chose instead to capitulate to radical feminists and OPPOSE the human decision by the Supreme Court to uphold Congress and the Senate's humane decision, to ban that barbaric practice.
And Blacprince, you have not stated any facts everyrthing you have said has been wrong-Obama is not for national-healthcare he has refused to give any committment to introduce it. I see you avoided the Israel question-you're beginning to sound like Obama avoiding tough questions lol. You say you "don't know where he stands on Israel" Sorry, I dont believe you, because Obama has said where he stands many times. He personally visited the war criminal Ariel Sharon and Benjamin Netanyahu (that shows you how immoral Obama is) and has publicly said he supported Israel's wholesale summer slaughter in leabanon. And he won the support of AIPAC for his presidential campaign when he agreed with the construction of more Israel settlements during his visit to Tel Aviv to meet Olmert. Abd the discussion is about Obama so don't bring up England which has nothing to do with it. It is a weak argument you have, if you can't defend it except by trying to deflect attention onto what England has or hasn't done. I have the right to criticise any country I like. And you also have the right to criticise England if you like. What Tony Blair has done isn't done in my name-so I don't have to keep silent or apologise on behalf of Tony Blair. I've never voted for that fraud and I never supported anything Blair has done. And, by the way, Blair and Obama are good friends. Which says alot.
Abd whether or not you have met Obama makes no difference- what matters is what he says in public, what he atnads for and his policies, and what you say about Israel is what most people think of Obama about everything, they dont know where he stands. Because he avoids going into detail. And avoids directly answering questions. And I also opposed the Iraq war. So you don't need to explain to me why it is wrong. I said Obama is a hypocrite because, although hecondemned the Iraq war , he supports Israel's murderous actions and hasnt condemned them ONCE-but has met the most extreme elements in Israel on his visits to enlist campaign support and supported them. Because he knows his support would dry up if he dared provoke the israel Lobby. So I don't care how moral he pretends to be. Now you think I am wrong and I am too quick to pre-judge Obama- Obama didnt give any solid proposals on heathcare, YET but, but, you say,its not yet election time. So you suggest he might give more policy ideas closer to election. Maybe I'm jumpig the gun? Well, O.K, in that case heres a little bet for you- and we'll see which of us is right about this come elction 2008. I am happy to bet you right now, that Obama wont promise a national healthcare sytem or any SIGNIFICANT CHANGES to the current woefully unjust system. I am happy to bet that Obama won't propose any major changes to the Patriot Act or a return of key civil liberties. And I'm happy to bet his unconditional financila support for Israel's illegal wall, illegal settlement-building etc, will be EXACTLY the same as Bush's. See if I'm wrong. As Alexander****urn put it, to express his dissapointment in Obama's lack of guts, after reading the Audacity of Hope, . "Franky I was hoping for a bit more audacity" Sums it up.

| Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope Posted: 6/21/2007 10:13:38 PM | First let get this start, i do not agree with partial-birth abortions and i clear stated that, as Obama did. I do however agree there extreme times when this may need to be done and should. But only as a last resort, but yes iam pro-choice, and that i will not back done.
Second do not critize anything about my countries domestic policies, i know where have some major issues that we need to take care of and we will. It will happejn in time when more US citizens stand up i believe this will happen. And do not think about me in that smug Europen attitude that most Europeans think about Americans, cause i can assure you that even though my spelling and punctuation is horrible i am a very intelligent person, and i do know whats going on my country and i never take anyone at face value. What i suggest you do is get involved in your country's domestic issues.
Third let me ask you this maybe you will reply or not i realy don't care, but are you a liberal or a conservative. For me a i admit freely i was a liberal far left democrat, no i concider myself a moderate democrat or a independt progressive person. But the way you talk about a man you know nothing about tells me two things and i could be wrong, one you are a right wing theology nut, and the second which is even worse a racist and if iam wrong i do appologize rather your man enough to except it, well thats up to you.
Oh last thing what happens internaly in this country is not your problem, but what happens internationaly is, now if Obama is a war monger then by all means degrade the man i could care less. But hey, he knew going into Iraq was wrong when Blair and all his educated people along with Bush and his PH.Ds were saying this had to be done.
So unless you can provide links to all you have typed here, get another horse cause the one you are riding is lame and quite watching Fox noise.

| Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope Posted: 6/22/2007 4:27:13 PM | I'd like to see him win. And I know what some of you are thinking already. "Aww, you are just biased and you want to see him in there because he a black man!" Honestly? That does have some appeal (which is why, sadly, I wonder if he'll even make it to be president). BUT... like other people said, when you read what he has to say and here him speak and realize that he wasn't always some rich prick born with a silver spoon in his mouth like many presidents, he just seems more down-to-earth and cool. Like he would do his best to be an honest.
To be honest, the world probably hasn't had a really cool and down president since JFK or somebody. Ya dig?

| Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope Posted: 6/22/2007 6:26:23 PM | | I have seen his voting record & if stats are indicators, His cabinet would have to be drafted ahead of the election as ultra-conservative for me to even look pass the ability to give a good speech. | |

"Aww, you are just biased and you want to see him in there because he a black man!"
What's the most encouraging thing to me, and a sign of how far we've really come as a society , just in my lifetime ?
The number of white people , on both sides of the political aisle, who see him not as a black man....but as potentially the best man.
|
| Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope Posted: 6/29/2007 12:17:11 PM | I am a WHITE person and I want Barack Obama to be our next President because he is the best man for the job.
I am so SICK of the abortion issue that I don't care what his views are on a subject that really should be left to medical personnel ONLY to decide whether in a given case it is ethical to do the procedure or not. I think the whole abortion thing should be moved out of politics and put into the hands of medical personnel. I am quite frankly sick and tired of hearing people rant about it on both sides. I am to the point that I don't care, period!!!!
With that aside, Sen. Obama is very well-spoken, intelligent and definitely the best one of all the candidates on both sides. He may not be as "experienced" as some of the other candidates, but look what "experience" has gotten us, the himself in****Cheney and its evil, twisted thinking! It's time for a breath of fresh air and new ideas to get this country going strong again.
Someone like Mitt the Nitwit Romney would be pushing hard to get a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage when he should be focusing on national security. He would cause Congress to be fiddling while Rome burns!!!!!!
We need a man with the intelligence to solve the problems that we are facing, and Senator Obama is the man for the job!
|
| Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope Posted: 6/29/2007 7:42:55 PM | I lost alot of respect for his "Quiet Riot" speech. The other issue he has danced around lately... that most won't even talk about is slave reperations. The race card does not fly with me at all.
If I was to chose today I would actually vote for Hillary. It is going to be an interesting time leading up to the next election.
