I almost felt the urge to defend K-town, but the truth is, it's not for everyone.
If you're looking for a vibrant social scene ... yeah. Not going to happen, unless you're under the age of 25.
I was there for 10 years, and loved it. Sure, it was a bit cliquey, but I made plenty of great friends there.
The rude, fast-driving, loud-mouth, tough-acting fools at the bar? If you look at the cars they drive, most have those bright red "ALBERTA" license plates on them. These are the same ones that crash their 40-foot cigarette boats on long weekends.

Good things about K-town:
- If you like the outdoors, it's your place. Three mountains within an hour drive for ski-board. Mbiking trails everywhere. A 100 different lakes for fishing or watersports. Golf, golf, golf.
- The beaches. Water you can actually swim in without worrying about your skin sloughing off.
- The weather - summer in Kelowna is legendary for a reason.
- You like wine? K-town (and the Okey-Dokey in general) can hang with the best valleys in the world.

Bad things about K-town:
- Hard place to break in socially. For some. It wasn't hard for me, though
- slow drivers like the OP.
- bridge traffic (though its gotten better)
- limited social evenings. You generally find yourself turning into Norm from cheers... going to the same place, where everyone knows your name. The clubs are... generic. And full of tourists on the weekend, and guys who like to fight.
- H.A.s, I.S., etc, etc. These guys, for the most part, aren't a problem. Even nice enough guys to have a drink with. But don't F with them. The ones that cause problems are generally the ones trying to impress the afore-mentioned ones. Or are down from the rigs partying.

In all, K-town is a great place to raise a family. I still own a place there and visit regularly.

haha, no kidding.
However compared to big cities like van kelowna may seem laid back. but from what ive experienced there everyone thinks theyre top shit. Most the peeps my age there are pretty stupid? The example ill give is some**** lil shit who was prolly older than me at the time just needed to race so bad, he put his 98 civic against my 98 mustang gt.
I dont care what youve done to your civic unless its pushin more than 300 horse. long story short, my slightly tuned 98 stang gt crushed him, so then i get harrased about a non existent nos system in my car. to top things offalot of guys there are arrogant enough they'll hit on your girlfriend even if your standing right beside her
