factually, new skates, aren't good in the snow
so if you want to see them again
pick up the phone or even a pen
send off a quick note to the embassy down south
it will reach them much quicker than word of mouth
you know each winter from early in their youth

reminds me of many years ago
i was torn with which country to live in
crisis had come and moving back here was in question
and so i joined with close women friends in a meditation
and one said i would travel with the seasons like a snow goose......
i never forgot her vision that day and in fact it was a good prophecy
for i have fulfilled it twice now so far....turns out it wasn't just fantasy | |

naysayers, oil company inspired
it's not hard to educate yourself
about the perils of global warming
the science is pretty straightforward
and the evidence is overwhelming
(as an earth scientist, I am aware that glaciers covered Iowa. I am also aware of mass extinctions. I have read most of the peer reviewed articles on the subject of warming and our role in it, but don't take my word for it. Read some for yourselves. Knowledge is a powerful thing) | |

Posted: 9/3/2008 5:50:57 PM | The ice has been melting for 20000 years give or take, with periods of re-glaciation, and periods of more rapid melting. No doubt man is a contributing factor to more rapid melting. No Doubt. However, if we had never learned to walk upright and had not figured out that we can burn anything combustible, the ice would still melt as we are in the warming cycle of the present glaciacion cycle. The problem is there are WAAAAAAAY to many people on this earth, and, in order to simply maintain life, we are consuming natural resources, including oxygen, water, ozone, hydrocarbons, minerals etc. etc. etc. at alarming rates.
I don't have the answer, except that reason tells me that many things are going to change. Some of the things that we have done, like coastal cities, are going to be having even more problems eventually.
I did not know you were an earth scientist. I do know that you are a very good, and gifted, poet. I enjoy your writing very much | |
