cracked the seal of that weld
with a casual look while sipping her drink
backed the deal with hands held
no need for paper was what they both think

then twenty years have slipped on past
so much water under that bridge
when plenty of tears have dripped too fast
no touch for too long on the ridge

No touch for to long on the ridge
Nor down in the bottoms by the low water bridge
Up in the hills closer to the sky
Soaring like a redtail hawk on the fly

Long lonesome summer comes to an end
Nary a soul here calls me their friend
In the deep chill of autumn crying in the night
neath an October moon blood red and bright

neath an October moon blood red and bright
illusory mention of love's new horizons
lost in the fogs of the fringe of twilight
my heart and yours into the dark suns
artemis watches mere mortals hunting
for what can't be found in her lonely light
she draws back her bow and with cupid's blessing
lets one fly straight - may it find me in flight.

may it find me in flight when day turns to night
may I look down to see what we wrought
and may I return after the burn
to replant the fair seed of deep thought
and may it take root and push up a shoot
may fertility be its song
may it spread through the waste and not be replaced
by the weeds of past deeds gone so wrong

Hi CZD. Too quick for me

Da wolfman howls alone never risking his flight
and the children all shudder in the cold of the night
a dorsal shiver shoots straight to the cortex
and a funnel of fear creates a viral vortex

prayer for the sunrise to make haste its shine
fills the circle of youth with hands intertwined
'cept for one skeptic child deflecting the ire
who diligently rings the circle with a protective fire

who diligently rings the circle with a protective fire
saving friend & family from ire
eyes closing gently fighting the night
arms spreading readying for dawn's flight

showdown between night & day commences
as falling stars fly through twlight's gleam
drifting slowly through the skies
hearts & prayers unseen

hearts and prayers unseen
hidden neath the skirts of dawn
and rising through the clouds
the mists of hope are drawn
to hope let's drink top hope!
forlorn my cries and always be
forlorn until you offer me
your crucible availed and free!

your crucible availed and free
within the light shining brightly
alone this night sleepy yet happy
while all is quiet writing poetry

the weekend passed much too quickly
with services and colleagues sickly
today the equinox makes its mark
as balance comes of light and dark

as balance comes of light and dark
my sun glances over his shoulder
at paths declining in their season
the greens of life yet growing older
emerge as dawn or twilight beckons
streaks of warmth to mountain dress
to balance now the duns of autumn
persimmon and golden glow bedecks

persimmon and golden glow bedecks
lotus eaters prove who is the weaker sex
Gaia plays games her sex reflects
ovarian shape a cruel winter detects

Apollo, soaring high above the fray
wrestles with Demeter on equinox day
balanced blue nights and golden fray
to every season, turning on the way

to every season, turning on the way
looking for reason, giving in to sway
the hands on the clock scratch my back
as bands of golden locks hatch a pact
realizing a dream within a dream state
increasing what seems to be a cream take
the top expands through bobble heads
the bottom demands bug free beds

Personally, I'll take man who doesn't reek
and one that doesnt tend to over-speak
and perhaps regularly trims his beard
and definately isn't way too wierd
and isnt addicted to endless sports
and is watchful of making sarcastic retorts
and one who doesnt drink scotch in bed
perhaps I'll just get a vibrator instead

perhaps I'll just get a vibrator instead
it's gotta beat putting up with smack talk in bed
treat me like a prince although I am a goon
I'll treat you like a toad frog someone set loose in my room

Better than that is a state of mind
Be watchful & wary & for God's sake, be kind
Bigger downfalls come of rose colored blind
All things will come although we want them timed.

All things will come although we want them timed
we're lucky if we get out with our pants and pride and it rhymed
as a frog i would rock catching bugs with my tounge
so long as I dont need to climb past the low rung

treat all folks as equals, we're just here trading verse
let powers greater than me decide who's blessed and who's cursed
but it would be a cold day that I took smack in bed
I would rather sit writing and be alone instead

I would rather sit writing and be alone instead
While the ski boots are thumping on the boardwalk outside
And the reggae's still pumping from the loft overhead
I'll pull up my down comforter and hibernate in bed
I would rather you with me but leave me alone
For I've lots to catch up on as the weekend draws nigh
And could you please make some coffee and give me the phone
And sharpen my pencil...and set the hot tub a-foam!!!?

sharpen my pencil and set the hot tub a-foam
I've got the stencil now get off the phone
lay down beside me in this smack free zone
we've got a few minutes before you have to go home

the red lights are flashing through half closed blinds
some blues are now clashing with some things I don't mind
its time to stop bashing all the poor of our kind
share some of the rations with those left behind

share some of the rations with those left behind
some of them fish, give to none just the brine
all over the ice flow deranged and so starved
frozen fingers and toes and feet wrapped in tarps

fearsome survival terrible the cost
worry of others who may have been lost
yet faithfully hoping for rescue from him
braved hardship unending- hope succored within

braved hardship unending- hope succored within ...
do you remember him? i think of him often
head jerking, hands flailing as i buttoned his coat
and bertie would hand him breakfast-
the sight of him would soften the most stalwart
postures and he'd ride on that buggy of his
down through town...no matter how cold
no matter how old the travail, or how young his hope.

no matter how old his travail or how young his hope
this beautiful being always managed to cope
for nothing was ever beyond his scope
of hanging in like soap on a rope :)
carrying him and all who loved him
like a wolf running in the open
playing with his puppies and washing them often
so their fur would glisten and soften

so their fur would glisten and soften
we added some oil to their food
no, not that old stuff from a crank case
not black gold they sell as crude
it the vegetable type we always choose
good enough to use in a salad
or left over from frying fish at Joe's place
that would be a sad ballad

that would be a sad ballad indeed
of what happened to my trusted steed
how I left him in his time of need
then shot him and left him there to bleed
after crossing the desert bareback
with no water and dirty clothes in my sack
and the bloodhounds sniffing out my last track
its no wonder that all cowboys smoke crack

no wonder that all cowboys smoke
crack bad jokes while sharing tokes
them blokes are quite the cool bunch
ya won't find them in a café having brunch

Edward Munch isn't known by most of em
and fortunately them don't need to count over ten
but if they do then off come the boots
giving them a chance to stash some more loot

Then I opened my heart to the beads of kind chivalry
looking down as he wove a ladder of roses
with vines so fine I hoped he would be mine
the minute we could touch each other's noses

Then I decided to reach for the cream at the top
demure as she was up in her tower
you got to reach high and risk the fall
to pick the most beautiful flower

to pick the most beautiful flower
almost feels like a crime
though it may only last a few hours
nature's art does shine

Beyond the hopes and dreams of man
with any inklings of humble
soft coloured texture in your hand
could sting as well as bumble

hole-in-the-wall, rations to a tee
leaves in the fall, sharing baked brie
walking the puppy neath Orions belt
dreading the mornings i'll be watching snow melt
to the attic tomorrow in search of packed flannels
replacing sheer curtains with quilted pannels
the time has a-come for the fall cleaning
for the summer garden's final de-beaning
