| Yorkshire Posted: 10/20/2006 3:43:08 AM | Being a devout Lancastrian I've spent over 40 years denying the existance of Yarkshur, but reluctantly take trips along the cobbled section of the M62 occasionally to see the white rose teams getting stuffed at rugby. Especially to the yorkshire version of the Newcamp in Halifax, the shay stadium. Nice to see some other posters on here doing the same.
Last time I went to Yarkshur was for a 21st. A buffet of pies with a kiddies seaside bucket filled with brown sauce "fot dippin in" was the order of the day. I had a splendid time.
Oh by the way. Saddleworth id a great place to visit. It's just sometimes the kids tend to get under your feet.

| Yorkshire Posted: 10/21/2006 1:32:44 AM | A request to all the sickos - can you please keep the "jokes" about murdered children to an absolute minimum? Thank you!
MSG 31 I only hope that Paul hasn't been discouraged by all this talk from people who are totally unconnected with the thread title. We Yorkshire folk are wonderful friendly people, and I'm sure that such an event would be a success.

| Yorkshire Posted: 10/21/2006 1:39:29 AM | ^^^^ vin that's another thread .. most people use humour as a release, it's not a personal jibe towards those poor children, their deaths were horrific and not at all funny. We all have our own ways of dealing with it. It's just a natural reaction...........
OT has someone sorted a venue/date yet then????
|
| Yorkshire Posted: 10/21/2006 1:52:59 AM | | Well next year I could probably get one sorted in a camping barn or something but probably best to wait until the weather warms up a bit. It all depends really how big a meet you want to organise the largest camping barn the YHA have in Yorkshire only holds 18 . I would love to have a meet in Whitby or somewhere like that I only visited for the day but it looked like a good place for a night out also plenty of places to stay. | |

| Yorkshire Posted: 10/24/2006 4:53:28 PM | Pleased there was a response at all - well done one and all - although some a tad off topic! The idea was for folks to meet somewhere, chat socialise - we can all take laptops and have wireless links for those not ready for face to face encounters. How about those that are willing to meet take over a corner of a pub, I say Yorkshire 'cos it's where I live, and anyone with half a mind can come along, first time around, and then plot a bigger event? I don't mind saying a UK event, it was just to get people out n about locally.

a nice cup of yorkshire tea and slices of yorkshire parkin, curd tarts
As a yorkshireman in exile must say it is a long time since I had some curd tarts.
If we meet on the moors, there's a nice friendly pub called "The Slaughtered Lamb" - just be careful when walking home at night! Especially if the moon is full.
