| What browser do you use? Posted: 12/22/2005 11:18:15 PM | Firefox usually.
I like the feel of it.
The pages don't jump and snap so fast, much smoother than internet explorer.
Also, I believe its more secure.

| What browser do you use? Posted: 12/29/2005 11:18:53 PM | Maxthon www.maxthon.com
I also occasionally use Firefox for a couple of the plugins.
|
| What browser do you use? Posted: 12/31/2005 7:01:31 AM | Well, I use firefox, and I think it's great. 99.9 percent of the pages loads without any issues. The other ones that I DO have issues with require a plugin that I don't have (or too lazy to look for).
As far as security issues, compared to IE, it's much more secure and isn't as vulnerable to the various cookies and macros that some websites try to throw at you.
It also helps that I run some anti-spy programs every couple of weeks. I havent' used the other browsers mentioned on here, but I might have to give them a try, but currently I'm absolutely content with what I have.

| What browser do you use? Posted: 12/31/2005 5:12:47 PM | I'ms till using firefox... and will continue to do so once I move over to Fedora (linux).
If Iw as tos tay on a windows platform I would be using Opera. it's fast as heck, takes IE out back and beats it witha stick as far as page laods go. But.... very very very immature javascript support. A lot of site use javascript for calling images, link behaviour and decoration now. Opera really makes for some igly pages hehe. but... it;s worth it.
I learned a hard lesson with firefox the other night. it's no where near as secure as people think it is. Some web developers have managed to cause firefox to download and install apps without you even knowing it until it's too late. I got hit so bad with a trojan the other night that trying to remove it caused the inability to boot into windows and forced me to reinstall windows. Not even the recovery console could help me. I know windows 2000 in and out.. and there was now ay this could be repaired aside from a recovery disk, which I never create due to my software environment changing almost daily due to my work.
Even if Opera got popular... theyw ould find ways to exploit that in no time at all.
So.. the best thing for me to do, but not for all.. due to the complexity of the operating system, is to move on over to linux and don't look back.

it's just as insecure as IE. Just not as exploited... yet. It's comming though. I'm hearing more and more poeple getting hit hard like I was.

You know, that immature java support is why opera does not suffer as much or often as most web browsers from the very type of attack you got hit with. Java is the main reason those things can affect web browsers so often.
I've only found 2 websites that the newest version of opera cannot display properly and I have no care nor want to visit either of them regularly.
As for switching to Linux. Tried it, hated it, switched back within 5 months. Its not so much that Linux is complex, because it really isn't any more complex than a workstation class OS under Windows. Its that it is not at all user friendly and has an inexcusably immature GUI (any of them). It looks pretty, but it can't do diddly squat.

| What browser do you use? Posted: 4/26/2006 12:07:51 PM | Maxthon, I will never use anything else. Oh hahahahaha, I have used all the others already. IMaxthon is the most secure feature packed browser I have found yet, not only does it not crash (on my system) if you're using IE and IE stops working, download Maxthon and it will work even though it uses the same engine (on steroids) as IE. www.maxthon.com (no I don't work for them). | |

| What browser do you use? Posted: 5/2/2006 10:40:08 PM | Internet Explorer.
Yes, I know people say it is buggy, unsecure, and an overall piece of crap. But I have never had a single issue with it, and it loads media much better than Firefox or Opera ever did for me.
Until someone can deliver a better browser, I'm sticking with it. Do use Firefox for banking though.

| What browser do you use? Posted: 5/3/2006 2:44:01 AM | I use firefox ... all the time ... where on Windows, or Linux, or Solaris. It's firefox.
I used IE7 for a few hrs after its beta version release. It's goodstuff, but its more of a RAM hog now than ever.

| What browser do you use? Posted: 5/23/2006 2:31:28 PM | | I use both IE and FF but lately I've noticed when I wanna start firefox, it takes like 15 seconds til it opens! yet internet explorer opens real quick! I've even uninstalled and reinstalled firefox but still same thing............anybody has any idea what could be the issue here? thanks. | |

| What browser do you use? Posted: 5/23/2006 7:28:45 PM | I have been using Opera since version 4. It keeps getting better and better. I like how it's possible to customize nearly everything by editing the various INI and CSS files. The filter.ini is very cool to block stuff. I even made my own icons that work as web page status loading indicators that take full advantage of the glow effect in version 8.
The only other browser I find useful is Off By One. A Google search for "off by one" will show you their home page.

When windows starts, it also starts explorer.exe, which is the main component of windows. Internet explorer and windows explorer use it and since it's already running, that's why it appears to be faster when you start it instead of firefox. Firefox isn't started in the background like IE, which is why it takes longer to load, or seems to.
I prefer Konqueror. It's the most functional browser and file manager I've ever seen. It can even do ftp like IE, but it also does sftp, which IE does not do. It also has tabs, adblock, split windows, extensions, etc. It's also much faster, especially with KDE.
I only use linux, so IE is not even an option.

| What browser do you use? Posted: 5/25/2006 1:53:25 PM | | Everybody I know that has Firefox has a back up browser. Speaks tons right there. I worked out my problems and got down to "Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar". The pop up blocker is the best, with some of the add-ons just fun. I just have to fight microsoft for control of the blocker sometimes. | |

| What browser do you use? Posted: 5/26/2006 12:13:50 AM | I use Firefox + extensions on Linux and wouldn't have it any other way. I have Opera as a backup browser, but rarely use it. I feel so limited and inefficient when using other browsers, or even Firefox without some of my favourite extensions. I used to have a few problems with older versions of Firefox on Windows, but since version 1.5 I haven't really had any problems with it. Firefox is great! | |
|
| What browser do you use? Posted: 5/31/2006 11:23:48 PM | I use Firefox 99% of the time. I only use Internet Explorer when forced to...ie, Windows Update.
I have tried Opera, Konqueror, Epiphany, and even Lynx. I don't really like them, to be honest, but I did discover Firefox before them, so perhaps I'm a bit biased in favour of it.
I do still remember Netscape Navigator, and I don't miss it. I much prefer it's open-sourced successors.

| What browser do you use? Posted: 6/1/2006 2:57:15 AM | There's an extension that'll let you use IE in a Firefox tab so you can technically do Windows Update in Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/ Or, if you only want to use Firefox... you may or may not be comfortable trusting a 3rd party site, but it works: http://windowsupdate.62nds.com/ | |

| What browser do you use? Posted: 6/4/2006 12:47:24 AM | | My Firefox is pretty slick with no net virus problems. I like all the different schemes. I preffer black and red. IE is always being recorded my Microsoft. I hate it when they pretend to be all anti-spy and then spy on you. | |

Yes. Firefox has a preloader. You can download it at https://sourceforge.net/projects/ffpreloader/

| What browser do you use? Posted: 6/10/2006 6:12:50 AM | I've used Opera for a while but i didn't see much different from Firefox... claims to be the fastest browser in the world but... yeah i don't see any difference. I use firefox because i like the pop-up block. I also love the fact that firefox sees transparancies the way the designer intended, unlike IE which shows it as white background....very irritating. I'v also used neoplanet for a while, but that browser is slow, possibly because the over-designed skins? I'v also used the new Netscape, it's supposed to be firefox and internet explorer combined into one (since they were able to sue microsoft haha...)
but i use firefox for everything except IRCSPY.com.... for that i use IE because other browsers wont open up irc directly

| What browser do you use? Posted: 6/10/2006 9:26:46 AM | If you don't see much difference between Firefox and Opera, you probably don't use (or know about) the extensions available for Firefox.
There are also optimized builds available for Firefox that are faster, in addition to tweaking settings to make it faster. The Fasterfox extension automates doing some of them.
