Kept changing my home page, could not type messages, would skip or freeze the screen or word, kept wanting to scan the computer, and computer very slow. Microsoft techs tried to free up computer, but could not because of the malware program, had to reformat the hard drive and start over. Luckily nothing of real importance on computer, because I lost everything by reformating. Had heard that this malware invaded several virus and antispyware programs by posing as an update to that program. Once in the system trys to take over Microsoft Security anc even copies their shields. Passes as being recommended by Microsoft and a partner of Microsoft. No truth in the statememts.

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing, etc Posted: 8/25/2008 5:52:29 PM | We already talked about this. The best program out there is Spybot Search & Destroy. The best browser is Mozilla Firefox. If you clear the cache every day and shut your system from the Start (legally), there should be no problem. But you never know with those brainy hackers... Have a zipdrive at hand to save your important files or a CD writer. The problem is that users download dubious anti-malware programs that can actually harm the system by damaging the registry. So it's better to have just 1- maximum 2 proven programs and keep them updated on a weekly or monthly basis. If something happens you can always reformat the hard drive. And if you have to do it, right after it's done, just download the Spybot Search & Destroy software http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html and Mozilla Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ GL. | |

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing Posted: 8/27/2008 10:27:46 PM | | Year ago the government used www.webroot.com to catch spyware companies that claimed thier product worked but actually was the problem. I was so impressed by the article. What impressed me the most was that at no time did they promote themselves. I went to their site and ran the 30 day freebie. It found a notn loader on my comp where all other failed. I purchased online the program and a few days later they sent me a backup cd in the mail. Which was another impressive feat. It really easy to use. One last recommendation is to run it in safe mode as well. You get to safe mode by pressing the key F8 a few times on boot up. If run most good ant virus program in safe mode it can catch loaders your computer would normally think you allowed in the start up operation. which could be the reason it is running slow!!! | |

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing Posted: 9/3/2008 9:07:59 PM | How to remove specific users from searches? There is no Plentyoffish Function to remove Specific Users from View, be it Search, E-mail, Viewed Me, My Matches, etc.
You must be using the Firefox Browser to install the following Ad-Block Filters:
| Then simply "right-click" on any Image, "left-click" < Adblock Image > and/or < Remove This Permanently > as shown to the right:
And if you want Extra-Strength Anti- Spam Medicine, a super powerful Blocker safeguarding you from much of the Malware on the Net too, look no further than to:

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing Posted: 9/17/2008 5:28:47 PM | | Make sure it's spybot Search&Destroy, and get it from a TRUSTED site like download.com. Run windows updates weekly. Update spybot and run weekly. Install AVG Antivirus Free edition and ccleaner, both can be found on the above site, and update them and run weekly. Do you have a firewall? If you have kazaa or limewire, get rid of it! And if you get a link in your email, type it into the browser window rather than clicking on it, for this makes it harder for someone to attack your computer with a macro or virus. | |

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing Posted: 11/5/2008 6:57:45 AM | One site I have used in the past on at least 5 pc's and my laptops is www.majorgeeks.com it is free to use and gives step by step instructions.
Utilize the search feature that is located on the left side of the screen (you have to scroll down to find it) I always type in trojans there and it will take you to the forum area that will show you how to get rid of trojans and spyware.
you should keep your logs after running any of the programs and if you still can not get your pc to run right, upload the logs to their forum and one of the techies there will look at it and then tell you what needs to be done. I have not had any problems with any of the pc's after using them. and my sisters haven't either..
Hope this helps and happy surfing everyone.

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing, etc Posted: 1/4/2009 8:47:56 PM | use avast anti virus or AVG and with Malwarebytes you can avoid using my services at 95$ an hour here in Las Vegas. I am a PC Tech for over 25 years
Between them 2 programs you should be fine..
Spybot, and many others just do not work as well as they use to, and if you Have Norton or Mcafee Dump it, use Spysweeper with Antivirus or Trend Micros PC Cilling Internet Security Suite.

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing, etc Posted: 1/4/2009 8:54:40 PM | Use this program if your infected with Antivirus 2009
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Also get the Free AVG and
http://www.whatsrunning.net/whatsrunning/download.aspx
Whatsrunning version 2.2 and go to the start tab and Uncheck everything and restart after scan...
if this fails use One last program...
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
this is the best at removing some root kits.
Some infections do not let you download or run these programs.
so here is what you do...
get Avast Antivirus, install it from a FlashDrive when it is finished, let it run a scan on reboot...
this will help you out alot...
Let it Delete All it finds... you will still be infected somewhat, However you should be able to run combo fix now and the other programs..
I do this for a living....

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing, etc Posted: 1/7/2009 1:53:29 PM | | I have used Comodo firewall for quite some time now. I think its great. (BTW I'm a 25S in the army guard so I know a think ot two.. but thats it..haha) I also use the free version of Netwitness Investigator. Its a little complicated but it will show you where ALL your network connections are going in the world. The govt pays 20,000$ for the netwitness licence but YOU can get the free version... Run it before turning on Comodo and after and see a HUGE reduction in net trafic. | |

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing, etc Posted: 1/31/2009 7:38:53 PM | Anyone who gets malware in the form of viruses and spyware mostly asks for it without realizing it.
Using Windows is like moving into the ghetto. Yes, you can buy a $300 computer, just like you can buy a $50,000 house in the crappiest of neighborhoods.
Don't be surprised when your PC is infected regularly. Accordingly, don't be surprised when your house and car are broken into regularly.
And, your only rebuttal is, "Your house cost you $400,000. I got mine for $50,000. Who is the real fool?"
It's evident. The guy who paid $50,000 is the fool.
AT&T used to say, back in the day, you get what you pay for. Enjoy PAYING for the ghetto.

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing, etc Posted: 2/3/2009 11:21:26 PM | So what should you use http://free.avg.com/ or http://www.free-av.com/ Seems that antivir is winning this race=faster and less intrusive, but either one is a winner-you need it (one or the other)-install it yesterday. SB S&D and AD-AWARE-They are getting (and considered) outdated, but they serve their purpose. SB S&D-don't install TEATIMER-you really don't need it. AD-AWARE-let it run-not needed but it serves its purpose. SAS=superantispyware=stupid name but another must have http://www.superantispyware.com/ You put these 2 applications on your computer and you will be pretty well set. Add Scruffy http://www.winpatrol.com/ and http://www.sandboxie.com/ And there is nothing happening with out your knowledge. For basic internet stuff that 300$ computer will run as fast as the 4000$ computer. | |

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing, etc Posted: 2/3/2009 11:46:52 PM | Norton, Norton, Norton-Symanteech---here is a link to the correct uninstaller. Do you know why it takes 1.3 minutes for some of your stuff to run. http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039 Norton antivirus is a system hog--it's a known fact--google it. Until that is straightened out, use the free stuff. | |

| IMPORTANT --> Spyware - Popups, Homepage Changing Posted: 2/10/2009 2:59:13 AM | Admin, allow me to suggest something a bit more efficient than Ad-Aware as that seems to be getting compromised by every new Malware program out now.
Malware Bytes (http://malwarebytes.org/) - It's perfectly free(although there is a pay version). Malware Bytes is a well-known and legit company. Another known prog of theirs is Rogue Remover, another great program.
I have hundreds of utilities in my battle against Spyware.
A good tool to have in your arsenal is Process Explorer courtesy of Microsoft Sysinternals. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx You're going to want to know what's running.
