Posted: 7/11/2005 1:27:27 PM | what browser are you using emma? it could be that perhaps you are out of date possibly on something. Perhaps Javascript might be disabled or something.
Suggestions off the top of my head suggest updating your browser to what ever its current version is if possible. Try deleting any temporary internet files or cookies you have. That might force the Im program to reload. | |

think you should have a cap at say 75, I have noticed that the cap is 120 years old.

First and foremost, I want to commend you guys for the comprehensive help given at this dating web-site and feel motivated to help others succeed... knowing the small amount of issues I've experienced.
Being considerably computer literate and compassionate toward new computer users (male or female), I would like to point out that very few PC or POF Newbies may be aware of Instant Messaging techinques used on POF. In the case of new PC newbies, very few understand the terminlogy behind the scenes of the internet, leave alone just beginning to know how to operate a computer.
Questions like, What is a popup? Why do my incoming messages disappear in a split second? "Forums", what are they? Where can I find the help?..... are valid and sometimes emotionally upsetting (especially on dating web-sites) upon not knowing the answers.
Upon purchasing their new computer, majority of peripherals (add-ons) and software is installed ready for use. So when the newbies experience the power of the internet they fail to read the user guides and tips for more happy/exciting journeys into the unknown. This of course may be a result of the user neglecting to read (in haste of; "I can't wait to have fun" syndrome) ... OR, poorly advertised helpful tips/links upon first entering a new web-site.
To conclude my message here, could I suggest inserting a tip below the sign-in box, to disable popups to receive IM's and possibly a help link.
