So i think we should all start emailing the admin team until they return the much wanted IM
please ask all your friends on the site to email "userplane" requesting the return of IM and get it back the more that emails the more chance we have

The way I see it is Marcus really doesn't have much to offer for a fee, I'm betting you'll see the return of the IM to upgraded members only. I'm sure you'll see other features go by way of this. The realization must be made that the popularity of this site is because IT IS FREE. I'd keep my eye's peeled another will come along soon! | |

Posted: 4/18/2009 12:17:32 PM | This is a free site, but there are those who have paid for their memberships. I haven't upgraded, but if I had and then within a month services such as IM were suddenly no longer available, I would probably be asking for my money back.
If the IM comes back in another form other than Userplane, I may consider paying for it. The only thing I have ever paid for online is my subscription to MLB.TV so I can watch my Red Sox games on the computer, so I'm not inclined to bringing out the credit card online at all. IF it comes back, it will be cave in and pay up or go someplace else. We will have to see what the cost would be and if I would consider it worth my while. | |

Posted: 4/18/2009 12:43:23 PM | Hi ... i understand all the things you have posted about IM .. but my problem is different ... within the past week i have stopped seeing the "instant messenger" or "IM" (in green) below or by people's profiles ... instead ... it just says "online" ... both, as i browse and on my favorite's list ... i am trying to find out why ... my settings are all correct and i have no pop-up blockers running ... and my flash is updated ... the site just doesn't give me the green option any more ... how can this have anything to do with my settings??? ... i am trying to find out what has changed with your site that is causing this ... the only thing i am seeing anymore in green below the profiles and by profile is the word "online" ... i want to be able to see "IM" ... or "instant messenger" ... as before so i can contact my friend through instant messenger directly like before ... if i can't get this fixed i might as well go back to some of the other sites where i can use IM properly ... i love your site and don't want to give up on it ... so ... please help !!!!! ... thanks ... As has been previously mentioned in numerous other threads, it has been discontinued because Userplane, the IM provider, is going to be discontinued by its owner, AOL in the near future and POF Admin chose to scrap it here. | |

Posted: 4/18/2009 12:49:16 PM | | i just noticed your post ... and i disagree that usage will increase without IM feature ... i believe the usage at Plentyoffish is the result of word of mouth about how great the site is and is only increased because of the IM feature ... i have seen this on other sites that eliminated it and had a huge drop off in traffic ... we are an instant gratification society ... we want to be connected "right now" ... with the other sites i have observed they brought back IM after realizing the traffic would go find somewhere (and believe me there are "plenty" of dating sites) where IM i still functioning ... so i will voice my humble opinion that Plentyoffish is making a huge mistake if they allow the IM feature to disappear ... here's hoping they are listening ... thanks ... And one more thing. why is some users in New Zealand having the gold feature and we could not have it as I was told by my friend that it was given to her for free of charge.

Now all it has is a text saying "Online Now" where you cannot click it and it has no link to open up the Instant Message window and I am a serious member so if I cant IM anybody why be a serious member and pay money for a site not working properly???/
