| For the gamer guys...What are your favorite types of video games? Posted: 8/8/2008 12:55:01 PM | | So john, what would you suggest as possibly being the best MMORPG right now? Along the lines of WoW ... I mean I loved playing WoW and all, but I just kinda want something different. Well at least after the summer is over and I go back into winter hibernation mode. | |

| For the gamer guys...What are your favorite types of video games? Posted: 8/8/2008 1:03:21 PM | ^^ Well, WoW is pretty much the best one out there. And that isn't saying much to a lot of people.
There is Age of Conan, but I cancelled my sub. It's definately very darker than WoW, has boobies, and you can set people on fire/rip hearts out of people's chests and eat them(if you're a HoX). The Melee combo system, and spell-weaving features are interesting and much more enjoyable than the auto-attack system. Problem is that the game buggy as Hell, And no end-game content.
Warhammer Online is coming out in the next few months, and looks promising (especially if you liked WoW) with a heavy PVP Focus (or so they say). If WoW is your game, I'd stick with it, or cancell if you're bored and wait a little while.

I play a lot of LotRO, which is a lot like WoW. Whenever I get sick of it, I play some Conan since the gameplay between the two is almost diametrically opposed.

| For the gamer guys... Posted: 8/8/2008 3:00:46 PM | for me my favorite type of games are the rpgs, action/adventure and platformers. I just love a game that is just fun to play. you the kind of game where your just having fun playing the game whether you win or lose “mario kart is good example". I also enjoy games with compelling storylines that make you feel for the characters and what is happening to them. i prefer to play with other humans unless im playing an rpg.
It amazes me how creative and how good of an ability to tell a story some of these game makers are these days.

| For the gamer guys... Posted: 8/8/2008 3:21:24 PM | I played EQ2 and WoW for a bit. I quit them both when I got into Guild Wars. Guild Wars turned out to be more the type of online fantasy game I was after. GW PvP is probably my favourite fantasy based e-game out there. Probably spent more time making builds and testing them in the training isles, and in Observer mode just watching matches and ranked tournaments than actually playing. lol | |

| For the gamer guys... Posted: 8/8/2008 4:08:09 PM | Ehh.. Some of the more recent RPGs have been kind of saddening to me. Not that great IMO. I did not like Mass Effect. It was done well, but it felt like it was severely lacking in gameplay, and major plot development.
THough I loved both KOTORs. And The Witcher was a solid Gothic RPG with decent gameplay (in my opinion, THe Witcher combat is controversial), and good story.
Can't wait for Fallout 3 and Dragon Age.
God, I'm such a nerd. | |

| For the gamer guys... Posted: 8/8/2008 4:14:20 PM | I'm mostly into Golf games and Air combat . . I don't see the point of things like GTA and others that let you steal cars... kill pedestrians and cops...and destroy anything and Everything in sight. | |

| For the gamer guys... Posted: 8/8/2008 5:15:21 PM | I've played GTA, and sprees of anarchy are entertaining for about 10 mins. After getting arrested and losing all your inventory/money everytime, I become more motivated in playing the game's story. And the story is very cool.
There is a turn of events where Niko and his cousin hit rock bottom and are forced to go into hiding. Niko's cousin is kidnapped and held as bait to get Niko to surrender himself to an old war buddy with a vendetta. Niko loses it. Warehouse battle ensues, like something out of a Mafia flick. The emotion and ambient dialogue in that mission are both pretty intense. Don't mess with Niko's family. lol

| For the gamer guys... Posted: 8/8/2008 5:57:15 PM | I basically play the EA Sports NHL series, and most of the AAA first person shooters.... plus some of the cult classics!
My fave. gaming series is probably Half Life, and soon-to-be F.E.A.R (sequel looks better than the original, which rocked). I'm more of your nerdy PC gamer (though I own a 360). It's kinda stuck with me since highschool, but I don't play nearly as much as I did back then.

| For the gamer guys... Posted: 8/18/2008 7:12:17 AM | ^^ Akuma/Gouki is going to be in Street Fighter 4. I saw a video on youtube of it the other day. I was pretty Happy about it. Too bad SF4 is not going to have parry system that Street Fighter 3: Third Strike had.
Force Unleashed looks cool, but it's too flashy for my taste.
Fallout 3 is gonna be awesome. War never changes
Dead Space really does look good too, albeit a Resident Evil 4 rip-off IMO.
Warhammer Online is coming out next month, though I'm not sure if I wanna play it.

| For the gamer guys... Posted: 8/18/2008 11:08:18 AM | I love action games games with lots of shooting, and lots of explosions (a good story also helps) , currently playing Unreal tournament 3, Mass Effect, GTA 4 and oblivion These games let you act out every guy's fantasy of being a tough badass action hero the game still has to be fun to play (cool weapons cool settings good controls good gameplay mechanics etc.) Contrary to all the negative stigma GTA 4 recieves the game's storyline is actually very good (cool gunfights lots of car chases nice homage to movies like Heat and other action movies or mafia flicks) and the gameplay mechanics are very good. There is alot more to it then just stealing cars and killing cops I like games with lots of story (although a good storyline isn't a requirement A lot of action adventure games don't exactly have very interesting or particularly orginal storylines that doesnt mean they aren't fun to play)
There are so many interesting games coming out this fall Fable 2 Far Cry 2 Fallout 3 Dead Space Project Origin Gears of War 2 Saints Row 2
I doubt I'm gonna buy all of them though or even get to play all of them

| For the gamer guys... I heard that ID is working on a 'net version' of Quake III that you can download for free off the internet with some graphics and gameplay updates. | |

| For the gamer guys... Posted: 8/19/2008 11:21:04 AM | Gaming has always been a hug thign for me, starting with back in the day of the NES (sry not old enough for sega master or atari although i have gone back an played them, and enjoyed them).
What i pay generally depends on my mood like a few others have stated before me, but i generally play all sorts of games. Rangeing all genres and styles. Mostly waht i play are FPS', MMO's, Fighters, RPGs, RTS and TBS games( the Civ series pre 4 was amazing, 4 just kinda took away from it when they tried to make the game play fast pace for a TBS, its like playing speed chess where if your left with a time you might miss a crual move and screw yoruself over in the end.)

| For the gamer guys...What are your favorite types of video games? Posted: 8/19/2008 2:02:38 PM | Well, i play all sorts of games, i play these games at the moment.
1: Mass Effect (3rd Person RPG) 2: Medal of Honor - Airborne (FPS) 3: Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion (1st/3rd Person RPG) Very moddable!! 4: Master of Orion 2 - Turn Based 4X Strategy (no game of the same genre has yet to beat this old, but wonderful game.)
I am currently looking forward to Spore, now that game is gonna rule!!
I don't particularly have a favourite genre of games, some RPGs i hate, some i love, some FPS games i hate and some i love.
It depends on how they feel when you play.
