The Trouble With Money......Page 2 of 2    (1, 2)
Instead of investing in the acquisition of "stuff", I made a choice to invest in my family. The best stuff ever, ever, ever! Remember that song "Cat's in the Cradle".

As I posted a week or so ago, having kids is the best investment you can make.

I think today we have forgotten about the value of investing in our families.

I remember not having half the stuff my kids do and we had tons of fun and were never saying, I am bored...

if you have a good and safe place for you and your children to live and money left over at the end of the month, that is a good feeling. and i wish it for all of you.

I ask that question but not about money. It's important for me to know that someone enjoys what she does. You can learn a lot by knowing where someone work/ed.

it don't make good tiles for wallpaper, the squares are too small!
Its got that treatment so it doesn't actually burn like paper, so its hard to light cigars with!
when you have a safe full of it, you cant actually dive into it like Scrooge McDuck and swim around!

But it has The Queen on it, so i guess we take the good with the bad!!

after re-reading my question, i found it inresting that all the people I talk to and meet on here, I never ask what they do...but when it does come up inconversation or they bring it up...it's ususally the way they do it that makes them likeable or not. I am not attracted to 'power seeking opportunists', but I love a man with 'integrity and kind ambition'.........

I have a saying......money isn't the most important thing but it does beat what's second!!!!!!

If you really want to find out about money google "fiat currency" and read up on the state of the dollar and what's been happening to it over the last few decades......it might just scare you!!!

Although I realize this thread is about the attitude people have about money and how it comes across in their personality....
I have to say Funhog makes a good and correct point.
We'd best be doing all we can to invest and put away for the future. When that time comes, it's not going to do you any good to keep saying "money isn't everything".
The trouble with money will be that there is none!

Again, I understand the OP was talking about general attitudes about money. Showing off, which is always a turn-off.

Money??

There's money out there that other people have??

While married, I lived with my bank account in the red ALL the time except pay day, now that I have been on my own for nearly 4 years, it has never been in the red. I give up 30% to my employer, and 40% to the ex. So I don't have a lot, but I have managed to make a comfortable living and even plan on a vacation soon, and I haven't had one of those in a very, very, very long time.

I have managed to provide myself the life style I am seekng: going out and having fun, meeting people and not worrying where the next meal is coming from, (that's what doggie bags are for) oops..........time to go for Ethnic night!!

We live in a province so full of money and sometimes it feels that so many people (not everyone) is extremely superficial. They forget that normal people don't always want or need material things to be happy or be succesful.

I am exactly one of those people. No matter what I buy or do someone else near me is better, prettier, thinner, and totally fake near me. I like to have some material things, but I would prefer having someone special near me. You kind of feel like a lost puppy in a kennel at times.

Has anyone encountered this and feel it affects the people they date?

I used to date a man who was completely fake, he lived at the gym and always all the mall buying expensive brand name things. It drove me nuts.

Do you feel that people have lost (their personality)themselves in the money?

I find that so many people now days put on a mask and do a play and tell always. They never let anyone in.
