What else is there in life? Finding a great job? Owning expensive things? Having fun at an amusement park? Only reproduction matters in life. In fact, it IS life and the continuation of life. Arguably there is nothing more important. Please understand that humans are humans but we also have nature-given instincts that drive us to do one thing... mate and proliferate in life. Yes, it's great to get a back rub. Yes, it's fantastic to be told that you've done something good. And obviously it's wonderful to hear a compliment about yourself. But these are machinations of an underlying desire to produce children.
