| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 5/13/2007 11:55:20 AM | The ELBO ROOM in TOLEDO.OHIO........When i moved to the south i used to litterally dream about this place, a thin "PASTRY" crust that rumor has it DOMINOE'S offered the owner a couple of mil for the recipe and he declined it. There is a NYC food critic that roamed the world for 2 yr's looking for the pirfect pizza, said he found it in TUCSON,AZ.....but he also blasted pizza made in NAPLES,ITL as well as CHICAGO deep dish which he declared was nothing more than a casserol......i guess it's all subjective. | |

| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 5/13/2007 2:17:51 PM | I almost feel bad for everyone in these forums because they haven't tried Frank Pepe's or Sally's in Connecticut !!!! It only takes one visit and you will agree that its the best pizza in the country | |

| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 5/14/2007 7:01:30 PM | | The best pizza place in my hometown is Mario's on 61st Street. The one on the Seawall is not nearly as good. My favorite is Italian sausage and mushroom. My hometown is Galveston , Texas. | |

In my little neck of the woods of Markham, i always go for Double Double pizza. For those cheese lovers out here.. you don't need to order extra or double cheese... i swear they put 2 lbs of mozza on every medium they sell ..
the dough is soft and yummy, the ingredients are fresh and flavorfull, the suace is tangy and sweet....

| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 5/15/2007 6:33:52 PM | The best pizza I have ever eaten was from Mama Mia Pizza, it was owned by a Greek family and was open for years. Unfortunately the children did not take over the business and the owner wanted to retire. I have not found any pizza to equal it yet. He would always say "I'm a know you come back". Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 5/15/2007 7:17:18 PM | The Melting Pot in Front Royal, Virginia. They make this really crispy crust and there's not any crust around the edges all the topping go right up to the edge. This place does not skimp on toppings either. No matter what topping you order it's just piled on by the handfulls.
Then if your the type that likes to put the crushed red pepper on your pizza, like me, then order a pie with their Pizzaz sauce. It has red pepper and olive oil already in it, YUM!!! It has a real nice 'kick' to it. It kicks the proverbial ass!!
It's one of those places that has been around forever and always crowded, but can sling out pizza like crazy. If you love a great crispy crust pizza, cold pitchers of beer, and don't mind eating off of little tiny plastic plates then this is your pizza place.

| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 5/15/2007 7:25:08 PM | | Best pizza anywhere: Pizzeria Uno's/Due's in Chicago. Take it from a fat slob like me, I know food. It don't get any better than Uno's. Lou Malnotti's runs a close second. | |

For thin crust pizza I like Monical's. They were the only pizzeria in my hometown of Robinson, IL (also home of Heath candy bars, I grew up with kids from the Heath family) until Pizza Hut came in in the eighties. They recently opened a Monical's on the westside of Indianapolis (in Avon) but I haven't been there yet.
For wholesale club pizza Sam's is not bad but I think Costco's is better (they make fresh crust while Sam's is premade).
I loved Godfather's thick pizza in the eighties (with sauerkraut) but I went to one recently, and like some someone else said, it's now very generic thin crust pizza.
I was in NY recently and went to Ray's Original Pizza but I wasn't impressed but then I had reheated slices, which I hate! We have a great NY style pizzeria here in Indiana called Pizza, Pasta, Etc.
As for chains, Marco's and Bellacino's are really good.
If you make homemade pizza, make the dough in a breadmaker but remove it before it bakes into a loaf.

| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 6/2/2007 8:58:41 AM | | I"m from Toledo and The Elbo Room is still around and does have pretty good pizza. However, I think the best pizza in Toledo is Ginos. They've been around for years. When my brother and I were little my parents would wait for us to go to bed and then get Ginos for themselves. It was considered an "adult treat". LOL ( Yes it was that good and shouldn't be wasted on children! hahahaha) They also have the best feta cheese and tomato bread and spaghetti. | |

| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 6/2/2007 9:01:53 AM | I'm a transplant, too, and haven't found good pizza in Ottawa yet.
In Winnipeg: Giovanni's in Little Italy [Corydon], and they deliver: thick or thin, as you like it, and truly excellent meat and veggies. We'd get one medium Canadian on a thick crust [pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms] and a veg on thin [including asparagus!]
Enjoy! | |

| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 6/3/2007 4:38:49 PM | | The best pizza in Athens GA was at the Mellow Mushroom. They had an absolutely fabulous whole wheat crust and yum. Sadly, they went out of business in Athens, but I think there are still a few around in the South. | |

The pizza in Athens, GA may be good... but for some reason, I think the pizza in Rome, GA would be better.

| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 6/5/2007 7:05:35 AM | | There are no good pizza places in St. Louis.............gimme a break, argue with me all you want. When you're from Chicago there is NO comparison. Hey Byrd, have to agree with ya, Little Ceasars isn't bad, I like those breadstick thingees. | |

| Best Pizza Place in Your Hometown Posted: 6/5/2007 7:45:07 AM | | I'm originally from you NYC where the best pizza is but I now live in Port Orange, Florida. To get the best NY/NJ style pizza you would have to go to Pagano's. Its thin, crispy and comes with whatever topping you wish. The rest of their Italian food is excellent too. | |
