| why do people add you to their favorites and never contact you?
Posted: 10/30/2006 8:06:00 AM | | I chat with everyone who has me on thier favorites and I always add them to mine in turn.I feel like a stalker if I have had people on mine that don't talk to me anymore so I usually delete if theres no contact for awhile.It doesn't mean I don't like them but I don't see the point in watching someone login and out who you don't communicate with any longer. | |

If im added and not spoken to within a few days i just delete as well. I mean i dont think there is a prize for who has the most contacts...lol. I also agree about it not being that you dont like them, its just neither really took the time to discover that or not i guess. Personaly i think the one doing the adding should make the first move. | |

ya I always delete people who add me if they have never met me or talked to me...otherwise it sort of creeps me out to think why I am on there favs...easy access to pics...ewwwwwww
I like my favs just for keeping track of new friends and staying in contact with them after events | |

Sometimes, I decide to email them... a friendly note... and THEY DON'T REPLY. They don't remove themselves from my favorites list either.... what's up with that!?!  | |

I add people I want to contact on my favorites list.. but incase I don't have time at that moment to contact them I can go back and contact them later. | |

Posted: 2/10/2007 12:26:43 PM | here's an answer...who cares?....I have 3 people added as my favorites...one is 40, the other 2 are 30 and live in Edmonton...I suppose they just like reading my posts...but I could really care less why they added me...some people are just bored and play around with the functions, some people like to see what you write in your posts and in your profile....who knows...if it really matters to you....why don't you just write them a message and ask them, if not, there is a delete function that you can use  | |

well. when i look at the ones on the bottom, a few havent logged onto POF since september.
i would contact them but i am afraid to find out they might have passed away. that would be creepy.

For me, when I add someone and not message them it's all about intent. It means I'm obviously interested but maybe I don't quite have the time to write yet or am planning what to say. If someone adds me without saying anything I usually give it a few days and send them a message saying Hello. Or I'll just automtically add them to mine with the intent of writing them later. | |

I checked out his profile and he seemed safe enough (I wasn't actively seeking anyone, just testing the waters) so I sent him a message to say "Hi, noticed you added me, thanx". Turned out he had seen my profile and really liked it but at the time didn't have the time to message me. We started chatting back and forth and before you know it we were hooked. We met so I could look in his eyes and we haven't looked back since, love is grand
I deleted my profile and after we had been together for 6 months I signed back on to write a testimonial. Now I remain with a hidden, empty profile to stalk forums, sometimes express a view and keep in touch with a couple of friends I've made. If you see someone has added you say Hi, you never know what may happen | |

Posted: 2/10/2007 12:50:07 PM | I add people to my favs for different reasons: they have become my friends, I am interested in them romatically, I foresee a possible friendship down the road, I want to check faces out before I attend an event, I am interested in chatting at some point, I like what they post so I like to know when they are on line, I am interested in meeting them someday, etc etc
When someone adds me to their favs, I figure it's for some reason or another but not necessarily for dating and if they want to contact me they will.
When I was first on here I used to clean out my favs and the list of people who added me to their favs every day or so cause it got hard to keep track of. I gave up on that cause people tend to keep adding you if you delete them from their favs.
I swear one guy must masterbate to my pic cause I've deleted my profile from his favs daily for five months and every day he adds me back on there. We've never had contact and I've never seen him on forums or at events ever and I'm not interested at all. Finally I just gave up and he's got me on his favs still.
Once I deleted my name from everyone who added me to their favs except maybe 5 people who were friends and within a month, I had more than I had before and lots were entirely different people. Now I just don't care - if someone wants to add me - who cares. | |

Posted: 2/12/2007 3:40:09 PM | I've only been here a week and a local lady added me to her favorites. So, taking it as a compliment I sent her a thankyou message and invited her to exchange some more info, or even call me.
She read the mesaage and deleted it.
End of contact.
I was all about to jump off the roof when another one added me to her favorites so here we go again....
I figure people simply have different reasons for adding you to their favourites but it is no big deal. I do think it makes sense, if a lady has added a man to her list, for him to write (if he's interested) since she must have seen something she likes in the first place. | |

Posted: 2/12/2007 3:56:13 PM | I actually use my favorites list as a "phonebook" of sorts..instead of trying to remember names, I find it easier to add to favorites...the handy dandy note section is great for making notes of IRL names or other tasty tidbits....
If someone that I have not met at a function adds me to their favs but does not contact me, I will email them.
I hadn't even thought that the guy that added me to his favs when I first joined up and I have never heard from may have met an "expidate demise" ! ewwww...Thanks for that, Bradley! | |

Whatever the original intention, it is clear the favorites are just being used as a kind of bookmark. All I'm doing is adding to it those who have already placed me in theirs so we can IM if the mood strikes, which it hasn't yet. | |
